Since every time you start a mission you get an aircraft fresh from the factory. So in that little time you fly the airplane and overstress it just a bit you it won't matter because as soon as you land and end the mission, the airframe gets scrapped and next time you have another factory fresh plane. If you abuse it in that little time you will get damage in all sorts of modules. The airframe will not break because someone pulled 12g for a couple of seconds, but if you pull those 12g another 20 times it will break sooner or later. Engine overspeed is already modeled in the game and you also get certain warnings in certain frames if you are going to fast. And also flameouts can occur in pretty much all models which have an emergency airstart procedure. And honestly you have time for so many extra posts but you were not able to look up Divertless supersonic inlet on wikipedia which states: But you guess a lot and write a lot about it, instead of taking a couple of minutes to do a simple google search and bring some facts to your discussion.

Finally my Frankenwinder comes alive!
erniedaoage posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Since a lot of people already done it here is my attempt on a Microsoft Frankenwinder Forcefeedback 2. Got my hands on 2 other msffb2 sticks and a ch fighterstick, so the experiment had to begin. Managed to do it in a couple of hours, but see for yourself. I'm not totally happy with it since i wanted to do an extension, but haven't got the right idea so far and i wanna enjoy my 16 new buttons already. :D -
Everything Seems to be Out of Stock
erniedaoage replied to tmansteve's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Oh man i am so happy i was able to grab 2 microsoft ffb2 and a ch figherstick for under 35€ each in the last 2 weeks. But i saw some really ridiculous prices in that time. Like 300€ for the old TM FCLS system, the plastic cougar as i call it. That thing has a gameport plug. -
You haven't read anything about the development of the new damage model in the last 4 years it seems. First the sabre and mig are pretty "old" modules which both could need a cockpit upgrade, which they will hopefully get when they also implement everything for the new DM. The DM is all about damage on the plane and not about the weapons which are used. Which part of the plane gets damaged, which systems are affected, could be the airframe, loss of some controls, or internal damage on oilpump, engine, anything. Since all WW2 warbirds are prop planes (sofar and i think the me262 will come when the mig and sabre get the dmg model) and their systems are similar to each other, where there is quite a difference to a jetfighter. It will come for all aircraft, vehicles and ships but time will tell how long it's gonna take.

Possibility to play DLC campaigns in multiplayer in the near future?!
erniedaoage replied to erniedaoage's topic in DCS 2.9
No i don't mean a campaign running, it would be enough to copy the missions into the multiplayer folder and just host it with a little edit. But the campaign maker could do it within the mission and you would get also all multiplayer missions with it. And if you don't have the object mod which comes with the campaign you certainly cannot enter the multiplayer. Like with servers running mods. If you don't have the mod you cannot join. I mean it's certainly meant for something where a few people gather and run the mission instead of running a 24/7 campaign server. There is no need for progression since you could choose any mission from within the campaign or just do it one after the other. Everything else they should consider with the dynamic campaign, but that would be a quick fix so people could enjoy the campaigns which they bought together. One is host the other one joins and now you fly with your buddy instead of the lazy wingman who doesn't understand your radio calls or is unable to do so. ;) -
As soon as this one is available its bought from me! Hurry up ED the F5 needs more campaigns!! Also a couple of other modules but that is a different story.
-
I was reading quite a lot about DLC campaigns and people wanna have the opportunity to play it with a buddy or a squadron. I thought about it and the protection and than there was an idea. Wouldn't it be possible to add a small object for every campaign like something really small like a barrel or even smaller like a can or something. The campaignbuilder place it somewhere in his missions and everybody who doesn't own the campaign, also doesn't own that object and cannot join the server. So every DLC campaign gets its own little object, it's placed in every mission in the campaign and with a small couple of changes every singleplayer mission should be playable for a whole squadron if the designer intends to do it. So if there are different sorties happening like a SEAD, CAS and CAP in the mission you could play it with a lot more people. Would that be possible for ED to implement or is it a stupid idea because i forgot to think about something fundamental?

If this will ever happen, i am going to frame that quote put it up on my wall and treat it like a mysterious shrine. Where people from all over the world can pay a visit to the mysterious miracle that happens just one time every 2000 years. :notworthy:

Just give it another 2 weeks...

why don't you just change the fov for the module instead?
-
I have only gifted 3 modules so far to a friend because i bought some bundle deals but already had some of the modules. As long as the license is not activated on an account you can give them to another account. You need to visit the support page and do it with an official ticket and it will take some time (couple of hours to a couple of days) till the license is transferred. If it's ok for you that the people receive it couple of days before or after christmas i see no problem at all. It's just that i don't know how the holidays will interfere with the support workflow.

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators

Don't worry mi-24p should be inbound in Q1 2021. :D Another suggestion on my side is try older airframes which are not fly by wire. If maybe ED does a freeweek or even freemonth again to try out some modules, hop into the f14, f86, mig-15, mig-21, f5, viggen and the warbirds, those are all modules where you really have to get up close to your target. Except for the aim-54 in the cat i mean that should be obvious :D I don't know but a successful hit with a dumb bomb and an historic aiming device gets me way more satisfaction than a quadruple release of weapons where i don't even have to maneuver the plane at all. Because FC dates back way before the ka50. Everything after the ka50 were full fidelity modules, they just made lomac compatible with dcsworld. At the beginning you could only fly FC, or Ka50 or A10c in multiplayer, at a later stage in development ED created DCS and merged them all together. They are going to do MAC and seperate it from DCS because MAC is gonna be like all FC modules. Maybe they add the choppers also in there i don't know there hasn't been much information for MAC where the last info was that it would release somewhere last year and than it got postponed because they wanna release a AAA title and need more polishing.

My last information about the production order was like f18, f16, mi24, ah-1 and than the phantom. I think they are using the 2 helos as a testbed for the Ai-copilot of things so they have a proper structure before they are going to do the rio in the f4. But its just an assumption on my side. I think after the F4 and Eds own ai-rio there are alot of opportunities for a lot of 2 seater modules. Even for 3rd parties if they are allowed to use EDs ai to be implemented and changed for their projects. Damn i really want that f4 :D

Force feedback vs spring loaded cams ?
erniedaoage replied to karel88l's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry but english is not my first language but i haven't said anything negative about it except that spring loaded gimbals are more precise because the force doesn't change. -
Force feedback vs spring loaded cams ?
erniedaoage replied to karel88l's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you look for immersion get a forcefeedback stick it's harder to be precise with it because the stick moves on its own. If you ever tried a racing simulation with forcefeedback wheel imagine playing the same game without it. It really is the same for flight sims. Just a couple of examples. If you fly a helicopter and you trim your stick it will physically stay there. Same goes for fixed wing modules, if i trim my stick it moves with the ingame stick and stays at position. Another one is that you can feel it in the stick if you loose a control surface in ww2 warbirds or feel the stick deflection limiter in the f5. It's also quite immersive if you get shot up in a warbird and everything starts to shake in the cockpit and also your stick rattles. -
Yeah you are right the stick would get heavier the faster you are. But if you move the real stick in the plane for 2-3mm around in the center it wouldn't be the same force you have to overcome as you would move the stick 5-7cm around. That's why iam using a deadzone of 5 and a curve of +15 so the zero feedback zone in the middle is dead. As soon as i feel resistance i know i am in the controllable area of the stick. I also found another ffb2 which i try to get my hands on and 2 older ffb pro models. If i get all of them i have enough parts to maybe do my own ffb stick with extension and grip :)
-
I was flying on the server with the new DM and as usual i got shot up pretty bad, the dash in my 109 was shaking so bad i had the feeling it would bail out before i do and my stick was shaking like mc hammer on meth. Immersion beats precision on my scale. And for the lack of forces in the middle i set a deadzone of 5 for everyplane, because every machine i handled in real life has a bit of clearance before something actually happens, some have more others less thats what i try to simulate with the 5% deadzone in the middle. I'm not a pilot nor did i have the chance so far to get in a real cockpit, but i believe there is some kind of clearance. There is also the point that all simulated sticks and cyclics are simulated to real life stick travel. So if you don't use an extension as close as possible to the real life counterpart, it doesn't make sense for me if you don't use a curve to flatten and dampen your input. I am trying to get another msffb to mod a better stick to it, because i am to afraid to break mine in some way and than i have to go back to a dead stick :D

DirectX adapter for Brunner FFB Joystick ready
erniedaoage replied to Chuls's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes it does, but for the MS FFB2 you have to swap the ffb axis but else there is native ffb support with most modules. -
Usability in the training missions is just horrible
erniedaoage replied to Deny777's topic in New User Briefing Room
I have to say i don't know for sure, it was 2-3 years ago when i messed around with it. BUT i still have a user made campaign in my m-2000 folder there since 2018 and i believe i have at least done one repair in 2 years. :) Updates don't do anything to the campaign so far, except if you have downloaded updated campaigns from maddoc-ic from the userfiles and overwrite the original campaign files. I believe they get updated when ED fix those missions themselves. Another idea to sort your campaigns in the my campaigns icon would be that you edit every .cmp file from every campaign you have and give it a suitable naming. Module-Campaign title whatever but its a bit of a task because you have to edit every .cmp file and change the name there. -
Usability in the training missions is just horrible
erniedaoage replied to Deny777's topic in New User Briefing Room
The module icons on the left point directly into the module mission folder, so if you want to sort your campaigns through the icons you have to place the downloaded missions and campaigns directly into the specified module folder. The My Campaigns icon just lists everything you downloaded into the saved games folder. I created a folder for every campaign which starts with the module title and then the campaign name as a workaround. Just a tip if you download some updated original campaigns from MadDog-IC put it in the My Campaigns folder because if you put it in the module folder you have 2 identical campaign names and can't really figure out which ones the updated one. ;) -
For rearming and refueling you need to contact the ground crew and not the ATC. ATC is only for startup, taxi, takeoff, landing and getting directions to the requested airfield. Super Carrier has more ATC options and ED said they are going to overhaul the whole system for communication.

Someone Please Invent a BETTER Headtracker
erniedaoage replied to Cpt Cuckoo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@cpt cuckoo: Why don't you just use the aruco marker? It's a printed piece of paper and it works with every webcam. Only thing you need is opentrack software. https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/wiki/Aruco-tracker
