Not to beat a dead horse but I bought a broken thrustmaster throttle with the purpose of gutting and rebuilding with another controller. Plugged throttle in 5 lights solid green at top doesn't recognize in the USB. I ran across the bootloader trick reloading firmware I guess. So for 50bucks broken throttle bought off ebay. Used the "Boot Loader Method" brought back to life the throttle. Just a thought if you have not tried it.

I also just bought one on eBay as a bargain, which was sold as defective (device is not recognized). But all attempts to reload the firmware (bootloader method) failed. I have tried 3 different computers, different USB hubs, tested the Cable etc.
What was noticeable, however, was that it was recognized at least with an unpowered USB HUB, but with the error message that windows could not start the device and it didn't appear in the Firmware Loader.

What finally brought the throttle back to life was to soak the pins of the Chip and the USB section (resistors and capacitors next to where the usb-cable is soldered to the board) in soldering grease and then simply heat them up with an SMD rework station (250°C) for about 3-4 minutes. Now it runs again without any problems. The rework station is a cheap china one (858D) for about 35€ from Amazon.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Let's hope this thread can stay open for longer than 2 days thanks to Razbam haters only being able to attack and not move on....

    But welcome Elmo!!

Though it seems some of those have already replied on this thread..

...Says the one who went from whiteknight to hater and back to whiteknight in less than a week. Congratulations, this might be new world record! Expect a call from the Guiness foundation in the next few days.

  4. ... because of a minority of people who used the forum to practice their spelling of 'grown up words'.

There's something wrong with this place anyway, where people that just hold on their criticism and don't fall into an endlessly grateful submissive attitude every time they do, being denounced as toxic, hateful and badly behaved people. That someone used such words in the whole discussion of the last week was extremely rare.

  5. Could this also be finally addressed (or at least on the list) and be connected with this issue:

...Furthermore the spool down sound is audible during flight which shouldn't be the case as the fast deceleration solenoid is only activated with weight on wheels, if I'm correctly informed.

The fast deceleration solenoid was removed and the cannon plug tied off almost 15 years ago. The spool down sound I believe you are referring to can be heard anytime that you retract the throttle from high RPM location to idle quickly. I will agree that the sounds are now horrible in the cockpit as they used to be pretty darn spot on. The only time you should hear the spool down sound is as the RPM comes down rapidly, like from max to idle in <2 secs. but it seems like any rapid retraction causes that spool down sound to play and mixed with the normal sound of the motor it sounds like a dying cat.

As I understand it now you have to be on the ground to hear that sound, while in vertical flight it would mean that you are in free fall before you are able to hear it. In horizontal flight, the air which enters the engine will prevent a rapid reduction of the RPM anyway.

But, in this case I've no idea how a trackfile would be of any help...

Okay. Thanks for clarification. Unfortunately i can't find any useful translation or explanation about what a cannon plug is* :)

In my opinion this should be addressed together with the Engine Spool time and responsiveness and then probably get it's own bug report...

  7. He is making an effort to reach out to you now, be it late, or whatever, the point is, try to be nice and respectful, if you have concerns, ask them in a constructive manner, if you are not going to try and open a decent dialogue, then there is no use commenting here.

I understand what you are getting at and I've played the game with Razbam before. Just be happy that someone answers. Not one more time! However, I Just keep quiet now.

  8. Currently the spool down sound is not audible

    • when the canopy is open

    • in the F2 exterior view

    • probably in Multiplayer from other players (could not test)

    Hi folks!

The F-14B guide is finally here. Enjoy!

    Link: https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs-f-14b-tomcat/

As stated in the disclaimer, please take note that this document has been created for recreative purposes only and cannot be used for training or real life flying. All the information within this document is taken from public documentation (i.e. Heatblur F-14 Wiki) and non-official tutorials (player-made videos on Youtube) only.

I wanted to thank the Heatblur team for their awesometacular work; the Tomcat is nothing short of a stellar product and their F-14 wiki has to be one of the best sources of public information I have ever seen. I also wanted to thank Jabbers in particular for the incredible amount of effort he put to create his video tutorials. The incredible amount of research and effort that went into it is self-evident and being the “first” to come up with detailed tutorials is always a hard and tedious task.

  10. Decoy, please don't forget the primary reason you were hired in the first place. Something to do with Prowler having an outburst and threatening legal action against redditors?

Please do not try to tell the community that the "new coder" Razbam hired was for any other reason than to pull the Harrier kicking and screaming out of EA. I actually worked with one in a side channel for a few months in 2019, because you guys told him to talk to me, to parse through bugs and inaccurate systems modeling (GPWS, Navigation, etc.) that needed to get fixed for certain tutorials to be able to get released.

Not any of the long list of outstanding bugs from 2017. No, those weren't high priority enough to even put on the list.

Just the ones that were needed to be able to finally get Harrier "done", and the only time Zeus wanted to hear about anything else was when enough people went unheard on the forums for so long about issues like the ASL or CCIP-to-AUTO modes that it suddenly warranted correction (and if I recall correctly, people were banned for complaining about those, too).

I still remember when Zeus said in May 2018 that he wanted the Harrier out of early access by June, and was happy if only half the training missions would be done by then. Does anyone remember how many features were missing in June 2018? That was the standard they wanted to ship with.

Seems to be a pattern here, and you can't lay it solely at the feet of the behavior of the people on this forum in the past 6 months...

I'm afraid your little history excursion won't change his mind. But thanks for these insights! It fits

    perfectly into the picture.

  11. Razbam did, i made it and guess what it got met with nothing but hostility on a weekly basis. no mater what was posted on it, someone will always complain.

Same as everything else Razbam related. it doesn't matter what they do they get nothing but grief and everything posted gets twisted one way or another.

Does Razbam modules still have bugs - YES but guess what so does every other module in DCS. they recently employed a new coder to help relieve the bugs and yet no one cared about that great news.

I own every module in DCS and proud to do so. it means newer and better modules can be made in the future. No dev is perfect, hell ED has its issues and heatblur still havent given us the F14a or the carrier they promised. but you know what its OK .. we paid for a EA product.

This is why i stepped down as the Razbam CM, this forum has turned toxic over the last 6 months and its got to STOP !

Yes, that's exactly what it was! Everyone was hostile and toxic, otherwise there were no problems

  12. From what I have seen, I would tend to agree, and we have been discussing that as well. I felt some of it yesterday myself. I have also seen a few individuals be over the top as well. You may suggest a paying customer can act however they want, I would disagree. But I think, for the most part, most everyone here has been open and willing to work forward, I hope that continues on both sides.

It's really sad, that people always had to loose their temper, before someone felt obligated to answer and their concerns where addressed. There have always been quiet voices saying that something is wrong here, but they were labeled toxic or hater, remember?

Now that the full extent of the situation has come to light, got extra inflamed on discord instead of taking a stand here, and the ED management just didn't say anything about it, are you surprised that people got mad?

  13. Thanks, I wasn’t sick or anything, I was just stuck at home and unable to work on the manual. I am not going to comment on the EA thing, because I am not positioned to do so. I just thought that you guys deserved explanation why the manual is not ready yet and an apology that it isn’t. And I am not using covid as an excuse, just stating bare facts why I did not deliver the manual yet.

I have never accused you of using covid as an excuse.

  14. Hey guys, I took the time to read the whole thread. Wow.

As the manual and my (nick)name has been mentioned several times, please let me comment on that. The lack of full manual to date is on me: I agreed to write one and am doing so. However, when covid struck and I was stuck at home for several months, I was simply unable to work on it with three small kids, normal daily job and other DCS commitments. Nevertheless, if anyone is to be blamed for lack of full manual, it is me.

Having said that, I am working on it, going step by step and I assure you that I will report all the issues I may find along the way to RAZBAM (both missing features and things that don’t work as they should). I was promised these all will be looked at and taken care of.

To my mind the training missions may be treated as temporary substitute to the manual (especially it you look at the documentation provided there) - at least until I finish writing it. Mind you, Harrier is a very complex aircraft (much more than, say, M-2K) and requires a lot more attention when preparing the text.

Oh, and someone mentioned the campaign. I am finishing the free, 5 mission one as we speak. Couldn’t have done it before due to some bugs with the AI behaviour on Tarawa, which has recently been fixed by ED. So we’re back on track there too :)

it is very honorable that you are defending your contractor and we can all be very grateful for your content, but this is not about why the manual is not there, but amongst other things, why the module could go out of early access without the manual.I also don't like the fact that your problem with covid is being used as an excuse. If someone falls out due to illness or other reasons you have to find another way to do it, or delay it or whatever...

Hope that covid thing didn't hit you too hard.
