  1. Hi, Nineline. This week I performed 2 more long distance flights after a long time. Following yours and others` advice, plus studying Chuck`s Flight manual for DCS [ summer 2023 update ]. 1. Loaded 100% internal fuel plus 2x 100 galls external tanks. 2. In flight I depleted outer tanks almost dry [ less than 5 galls per tank following Chuck`s Flight manual ]. 3. Switched external tanks fuel transfer cock to ON position. Did not switch tank pressurization cock ON as I flew at 6 km altitude. Fuel boiling was not an issue. 4. Outer tanks got sloooowly filled...... peaking at 30 galls per tank.....then staying there for about 5 minutes and then beginning to get depleted all the way to empty. I was able to run on externals duration comparable to only 50 galls per engine which was about 45 mins. 100 gallons per engine would definitely need to last way longer than this at 2400 rpm, 7psi. 5. After dropping externals I switched external tanks fuel transfer cock to close position and continued for the rest of the flight on inner tanks. This confirms my past concern that there definitely is something going on with 100 gals external fuel tanks. They don`t last 2x as long in flight as 50 galls tanks.
  2. Hi! Found out today that when repairing on Forrestal, Su-33 gets lifted of the deck, but does not move with the ship. If there is another plane in the way, Sukhoi will just crash into. Same happened to one more player flying the plane today on Aerobatics Caucasus multiplayer server.
  3. Hmmmm, that`s unfortunate. Maybe one day. Still hoping, haha.
  4. Vertical Speed Indicator, Airspeed Indicator and Altimeter continue to freeze at high altitudes during long flights even when Pilot Tube heater and onboard generator are turned ON. Without these vital gauges P-51 can`t be flown in its intended role, which is long distance high altitude escort or just high altitude cruising. Once gauges start to freeze, a pilot is unable to keep the plane is stable level flight. Horizont and clouds [ if there are any ] don`t serve as precise visual point of reference. The plane is then flown on vertical oscillating trajectory wasting kinetic energy which should be invested purely on sustaining achieved speed. Only remedy to frozen gauges is to descent below 2 km altitude...remaining there for 3-5 minutes and then climb back to 6-8 km altitude until gauges start to freeze after 30-60 minutes again. This did not use to be the case in past, thereafter reporting the issue. Thanks.
  5. Since the plane was released, Vertical Speed Indicator, Airspeed Indicator and Altimeter continue to freeze at high altitudes during long flights even when Pilot Tube heater and onboard generator are turned ON. Without these vital gauges P-47 can`t be flown in its intended role, which is long distance high altitude escort or just high altitude cruising. Once gauges start to freeze, a pilot is unable to keep the plane is stable level flight. Horizont and clouds [ if there are any ] don`t server as precise visual point of reference. P-51 has now the same issue. That did not use to be the case in past. I raised this issue 3 or 4 years ago either here or on STEAM in section Bugs and Problems.
  6. Thank you. Will test it one day following your advise.
  7. No. Did not know that there could be any excessively spilling fuel. It actually does not make logic as fuel leaks is serious thing which does not sound like a standard allowable operational practice. Not going to argue about it, though, since I am not aircraft engineer.
  8. The reason behind engine overheating might be actual speed you are flying with this settings. At different speeds radiator cools engine with different efficiency. At high speeds cooling is adequate and one does not need to think about max. continuous engine settings and radiators in auto position. If you are constantly maneuvering and keeping the plane at low speeds then auto cooling may not be sufficient. Open radiator more manually. That`s why it is easy to seize Dora`s engine shortly after take off at take off engine settings and radiators left in auto position. Engine simply overheats before you manage to gain decent speed for radiator to become effective. Same applies to climbing. You can leave MW50 circuit breaker ON in same fashion as when you turn nav. light ON circuit breaker and forget about it for the rest of flight.
  9. Personalize differential brakes keybinds. To keep it simple I have them binded as Z and X. After 3 point landing tap them as needed to avoid plane uncontrolably turning left or right until reaching low speed. Simple as that. Good luck! Enjoy happy landings.
  10. Had same issue. Since last big update my Steam DCS kept validating and validating over and over and then when trying to play the game, installation process jamms and when trying to start again....... same end result. There was one corrupted file related to Su-25T. After I have just deleted that file, the installation process was after that without further issues. All good again.
  11. Tried to switch on electric fuel pump and it does work! Problem solved. Thank you very much for help Ala13 and Razo.
  12. Hello! For some reason Spitfire as only warbird in DCS has tendency to cut off engine as 5000 metres altitude is approached. The plane is set to Auto rich mixture, Ram air enabled, RPM and PSI in norm, supercharger in AUTO. According to manual the plane is equipped with automatic fuel pressurization at around 20 000 feet, so boiling fuel should not be the reason, too. Has anyone idea what is the issue? Thank you.
  13. Hi, Nineline. Sorry. haven`t noticed your reply from April 2022. I used in past Mossie for multi-hours cruising around the maps at constant engine settings - 2600rpm, 6-8 psi ] and constant altitude [ around 5000m ]. Was curios how long Mossie can stay in the air comparing to P-47 and P-51. That was how I found that there was no difference in elapsed time between 50 and 100 gal externals before fuel transfer cock had to be switched. 50 extra gals per engine at cruising settings should add +45 mins of flight endurance at higher altitude or so, but the time in air remained the same and so I wrote a post here. Thank you for starting an investigation. Much appreciated.
  14. Do historic research, read the flight manual and learn to fly Dora to its strenghts and avoid flying it where its weaknesses would put you into disadvantage. It is a standard tactic to disengage from an unfavourable fight or only to intercept enemy under favourable conditions for you.. As Obi Wan Kenobi wisely said in Star Wars: ,,Direct fight is not the only way to win".
  15. Try Aerobatic Online Caucasus server. It has people on it any hour of a day and there is good chance that you will find some Mossie pilot willing to let you jump into cockpit as navigator if you want to fiddle with Transmitter and receiver. I did that myself a few times. Just ask in chat and someone may respond. For example I am happy to be a pilot and let a navigation geek do calculations and way points for me during long flights so I don`t have to check F10 view, etc in the cabin. At the moment no autopilot assistance exist for Mosquito.
  16. Hello! I have noticed that there is no difference in fuel quantity between 50 gal and 100 gal external tanks. Both types take same amount of time to deplete before outer tanks get into play.. I checked flight manual- Fuel System section, Cruise Flight and Limitations section. Nothing mentioned there about it. Am I doing anything wrong, such as flying above certain altitude or is it just pending bug? Thank you for help.
  17. Check warm up procedure in flight manual. It`s all there. Don`t push the engine until it reaches optimal temperature and oil pressure is withing limits. All our warbirds` engines will seize mid air if you strain them without warming it up first. Another vital advise for a newbie: study the Flight manual in full. That will spare you of frustration and lost time in game.
  18. Read flight manual, check tutorials on Youtube [Grim Reapers, Spudnocker, Growling Sidewinder, etc. ] and in-game training missions. All guidance is already in existence. Delayed fuzes don't work in DCS and that eliminates precision bombing for now.
  19. Yes, our Mosquito needs to be flown as intruder, not as single engine fighter in combat missions. When I flown it on Channel server, was sneaking whenever possible under 50 metres over channel and French soil. Mosquito can be played on its strengths on servers or missions without AI fighters [ as they can see rather well ], with fog of war, no labels, no F5 view for human players and also precise bombing runs will be a reality once delayed fuzes will work again in DCS. A successful sortie is the one during which you avoid any contact with enemy fighters. Sneak in, do the job, sneak out and act like nothing happened until landing back home. As a cruiser on Aerobatic servers it`s great since they sorted elevation trim sensitivity.
  20. Yes, this Mosquito variant is not particularly a greyhound and its supercharger is tuned for low and mid altitudes up to 6 km. Even there it is just average comparing to other modules. Above that it looses breath quickly and it is between 6-8 km where speed tuned fighters like Mustang or Bf-109K shine. Regarding guidance to targets. You mean ships, ground units or fighters? Mosquito is not suited to stand toe to toe with single engine high performers. You have not enough thrust for sustained turns and it is less nimble and slow. You don`t dictate terms of fight. You can`t chase. You can`t run away. Once a decent pilot gets behind you, the fight is over quickly. One way to dodge bullets from ships and AA ground cannons is to wait for a burst to be shoot at you, then change altitude by a few metres so bullets miss you and approach and shoot at target during time windows between bursts which is about 10-20 secs. If there are more units firing at you at different moments, then it is better not to attempt an attack in a first place. You won`t win on your own unless there is at least 1 more ally with you to preoccupy AA gunners.
  21. It has been explained in past. Just dive into archive and you will find it somewhere the from 2020, or on Youtube during interview with Wag or Nick.
  22. Haha, that`s so funny! Haven`t have such a great laugh in months!
  23. True. I attacked only unarmed tankers so far. Would not go for armed vessel with Mossie on my own. One can fire from as far as one wishes. Pilots in DCS will each come with their own attack styles, guessing. I prefer close range to make sure that I actually tit something after spending time flying to target. Would be frustrating to fly 20 mins to target, fire and make 6 rockets out of 8 missing the ship/ target and fly back 20 mins home empty handed.
