  1. Profiles Requested I'm looking for profiles for FC3. I don't even care if it's only for one plane. I have been away from flight sims for a while, and I seem to have forgotten just about everything. I expected a lot of profiles on here for FC3, but it seems like most are for BS or A10 (both of which I own, but are way too difficult for me to start back with). I have an X52 Pro. I have the standard 3 piece CH setup. I have track IR 4. Any FC3 profiles, for any of those, would be greatly appreciated. I won't judge you if it isn't perfect for my expectations, but I need at least some sort of a base line to start from. I remember there were tons of people that posted profiles in Lomac and FC2, but FC3 seems to be rather quiet in that regard. Thanks! --bb
  2. All it would need is an option to lock it in place, and disable the input. You would still get what you want, and it would cost next to nothing to implement (compared to what they charge for it already). Then the OP could get one and upgrade to pedals later, considering he said that he didn't have enough for them in his budget from the start. He sounded to me like someone that is looking for a first time setup, and dropping $450 on a HOTAS that has no rudder control, and not getting pedals, is pretty much stating that he probably has not done a flight sim since joysticks came with a single button on the top of the stick. There's a good chance he'll use it once, and put it back in the box, when he realizes he can't even taxi. He'd be better off with a used x52 pro, and selling it later if he decides he needs to upgrade. Dropping $600 (WH and pedals) is serious overkill for a beginner setup, vs. $80 for a used x52 pro.
  3. It's a shame the Warthog Stick doesn't have a twist option. I love my CH setup, but I have to revert to my x52 pro if I feel like kicking my feet up. I was really hoping the WH stick would allow for rudder control, but I'd rather have a sloppy x52 pro with no pedals, or stick to CH gear and have the real deal. I'm sure the WH HOTAS is nice, but I just can't see replacing CH gear unless it offers a twist rudder (because I can't be arsed to have pedals in front of my PC very often). I dunno. Nifty looking switches don't mean much if they're collecting dust in the attic, and sitting right next to my nice looking logitech car wheel/pedal setup, which is also no longer used (g25 or something).
  4. Thank you for all of the responses! That summed up exactly what I was looking for. I went ahead and picked everything up, and am looking forward to finding some good online servers to hook up on. Regards, --bb
  5. Ok, so I just got an email today about FC3 being available for purchase. I didn't even realize such a thing was in the works, so I apologize for the questions that probably everyone else already knows. 1. This is primarily FC2 with new missions, DCS environment, a bunch of nice tweaks, and the 6DOF Eagle? 2. It's online capable with all other forms of DCS, in the sense that I don't need to buy any other DCS product to play with all of the fast movers and such? 3. There's an online community again, of people doing ATA combat again, and it's not like one server of 4 people at best? Is there a server run by ED that will be the primary server, in order to get a whole lot of action going on? 4. Is it Win 8 compatible, or will it be by release time? 5. When I install it, I install Lock On, then FC, then FC3 and world? 6. Does DCS: combined arms fit into this at all, and if so does that include online play? I wouldn't mind controlling a SAM, or Shilka, or some such, but I haven't tried DCS:CA before and I'm not grasping how it really plays out from the description. Thanks for your time! --bb
  6. Well, that is good news. I'm sort of on the fence then. Thanks for clarifying that. --bb
  7. I won't be purchasing anything more unless that's changed, in that case. I just don't want to bother finding out ten years down the road that the company is defunct and there's no support to contact when I dust off an old game and want to install it. I'm not the kind of person that will remember to do deactivations when I reformat a drive/OS (which I do pretty regularly), and I'm not interested in paying money to make life more difficult. Maybe they'll release these on Steam some day, and I'll grab them then. Thanks for the response! --bb
  8. Is the series still using the same style DRM as it used in the original Black Shark? I was thinking about picking up Combined Arms, as well as the P51, but if the same DRM is in place with a fixed number of installs, I'll pass and move on to simulations from another company. Thanks! --bb
  9. I'm waiting to hear about a release date as well. An update on the time frame would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm going to pick one up.
  11. Thanks for the response? Does the non-pro version not have the twist rudder action?
  12. I currently have the CH fighterstick, pro throttle, pro pedals setup, and it has functioned without flaw for two years now. I have absolutely zero complaints about it, aside from my laziness. Yes, I'm a very lazy person, and you can feel free to flame me all you like for that :smartass:. So, I currently use a lazy-boy recliner as my computer chair, and was considering picking up an X52 Pro, for times where I just want to put my feet up and grab the HOTAS, without the need for pedals, and have the ease of simple programming software. I have a hard time getting my head around the CH software, and while I can do it, and have done so for LOMAC, IL2, Black Shark, and so on, it takes me a long time to get it set up, and by the end I've forgotten the setup completely. I'm somewhere in the semi-serious simmer range. I don't put on a flight jacket when I load up LOMAC, but I'm into sims enough to own most of the important ones, and appreciate good hardware. Soooo... How bad is the X52 stick, in comparison to the CH fighterstick? Should I just shut my mouth and be happy that I have a great setup in the CH line, and sort out a way to do the rudder without the pedals, when I want to kick my feet up (though I haven't come up with any ideas on how). I really like the idea that you can swap profiles easily, that you can visually check what a button will do, before pressing it "live", and that you can use the stick as a rudder. Oh, and there are lots of profiles for games, for the x52 pro, which means I can fire up a game/sim, and be training within minutes, rather than days of sorting what buttons I really need, and where to put them, and alt tabbing to check what went where. Right, so there you have it. How bad is the stick compared to the CH, then? Is it worth buying a used or new x52 HOTAS, or am I completely insane, and deserve to be punched in the eye by the sim'ing community?
  13. Where are the ongoing campaign progress files saved to? I run a dual boot setup of Win7, one for gaming, and one for general use, and sometimes when I'm doing mass batch conversions of video files, or I'm running automated photo batch processes, I'd like to hop into a mission on the non-gaming partition. The thought of doing all the campaign missions again to where I'm at, would be pretty darn annoying, to say the least. If I could just copy the file over, it would be really handy. Thanks, bb /just to clarify, this is for lock on 2
  14. Will do. I will record the track next time, as well, and try to see if I can spot what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for the help!
  15. Thanks for the reply. I've met up with the C17 just fine, and never used the option to increase game time. I've kept him in visual range the whole way, and can stay pretty much right on his butt, all the way until he goes to land. I can keep within 100meters or even sit right on him, for pretty much the whole trip. Sometimes I lose him in the clouds for a second or two, but then I get right back to him. I don't get the fail message until after he's on final approach, and I'm circling the airport closely. He sends all the other messages just fine, including "final approach", but then nothing after, and it's only after a couple minutes that I get the fail for not being in range (without a warning prior).
