  1. So you would rather get nothing? If ED didn't take over the project, it would have died and the backers would have received zilch.
  2. Just curious how DCS World will deal with controls and mapping for different aircraft? Since the options and control setup are in the main DCS world screen before selecting a plane. IE, if you have a HOTAS, BS2, A10C, and P51 how do you setup the controls through each? (EDIT: Just looked at it again and realized that you select the aircraft and then set your controls) Also (just thought about this) what about different video settings? (ie multi monitor for A10C, but not for P51, etc)
  3. Yes...downloading now. I even took my upload CAP limit off to help out others :) EDIT: Actually sort of depressing, I'm uploading at almost 1M, but only downloading at 700KB/s
  4. i take you mean the ones on the side of the engine cowlings. there are 2 default tga files used, depending on the skin. they are located in the Eagle Dynamics > Ka-50 > Bazar > TempTextures folder KA-50_Numbers22.tga and KA-50_Numbers23.tga
  5. The short answer, you don't. The skins are pre-selected when the mission is created. Once the mission is running, neither you nor the person hosting can change it.
  6. Cyb0rg, that just means that whoever is running the server is using custom skins. Same result, you're being told to look for skin 'x' which you don't have, result stealth helo.
  7. as nyxs said, you've prob mixed incompatible skins. A couple of the older skins one out there use custom db_countries files, which mess up the regular ones. The result is the game is told to look for file 'x' and can't find it, and you end up with a stealth helo. An easy way to check to see if one of your skins is messing up is to look to see what it installs in MODMAN. When you are at the install screen and you select the skin, it should list the files it installs in the lower right. (normally it will just be a cdds file) if you have any that are also installing a db_countries file that prob you're culprit.
  8. Hmmm. Maybe I missed something. I wasn't trying to mess around with anyone. What am I suppose to tell him??
  9. Thats the point, with the tools we have available, it can't be applied. (that I'm aware of) the skins are just bmp files compressed into a cdds file to save space and speed loading.
  10. Even better is the 740 model, same size, BUT touchscreen! only 199. So tempting.
  11. Exactly. You can simulate a chrome finish in photoshop using styles and filters, but it would not have dynamic reflections, etc. You would end up with an in game helo with a fixed reflection built into the texture that would look like crap. Too bad as a Chrome KA-50 would def be cool to look at, not to mention blinding anyone trying to lock onto you :)
  12. Ah, you rock Skypat. I was playing around with it trying to get it work with MODMAN and just wouldn't cooperate. This will make it MUCH easier for people. Moose
  13. Nope, you're right. Don't know how I missed that. I'll have to add it into the next release.
  14. Soup, I have no issues with it :)
  15. Laivynas, The hinges and rotors shafts were known issues that I simpy haven't gotten around to fixing. The jet intake labels are where they are because I didn't want to overlap with the sidenumbers :) I'll have to look into the lack of shadows for the engine covers though, that one is a mystery at the moment. Along with Skypats tips for filtering (thanks) it looks like I'll have to do some tweaking and reissuing :)
  16. Hey Skypat, what sort of filter did you use? (I'm assuming you were using PS)
  17. Looks good Skypat. :) For those asking, the original is avail at Lockonfiles. Although I have to say now, looking at that beautiful closeup, there are a few hinges that I forgot to adjust color wise........Ah Layers upon layers upon layers
  18. Wow, what a PITA... Anyway it's def in Paint2. And it's not where it should be. I still have locked down the exact location, but I can narrow it down alot for you. It's the upper right hand corner, where the engine inlet covers are and you have those three rectangles. Unfortunately, it is not a labels piece, but it looks like its picking up some overscan from those pieces.
  19. I know it's on the Paint2 file, not sure where exactly at the moment, but I'll take a look when I get home from work.
  20. No problem. Adding skins for IL2 this definitely isn't.
  21. Joey, if you need any help just ask :) There's plenty of people on the board that are more than willing to help out those just starting.
  22. I have posted a modified db_countries file at lockonfiles This file adds the KA-50 Standard skin to all countries. In order to use it you need to uninstall all MOD's with MODMAN, replace the db_countries files, then reinstall all your MODS. (always back up any files you change!) Once you have this installed, you can install skins with MODMAN that use a different country code in the skin.lma7. This will have no impact on MODMAN compliant skins (as long as they don't use a custom db_countries file themselves) It simply allows you to make a skin for any country by changing the country ID in the skin.lma7 file
  23. Version 1.1 is up at Lockonfiles Changes for Version 1.1 -Fixes a couple of typos -Adds information for the multiple skin files for correct damage textures -Adds additional photos to assist with color schemes (courtesy of MadTommy) -Amplifies section on adding KA-50 to other countries
