  1. We have also noticed, that as soon as I join the server, my wingmans mic input registration also stops.
  2. We are trying to use DCS Radio. All of the input/output devices are appearing in DCS Settings > Audio, and we've selected everything. Nothing strange, I use a Kingston 3.5mm wired headset/mic. On the server side, everything is working with UPNP (seemingly anyway). We are able to connect to the server, I can open the Radio panel, I see my colleague in the correct room. We both see the green indicator for transmitting. This works both ways, but no audio is heard by either of us. My colleague is able to see his mic input level registering in the 'Gear' menu, but I cannot see this at all. I am not able to hear my colleague, and he is not able to hear me. I think we have two issues, but from what I can tell, this is not really supported in any real way. Is there any actual recent documentation on this from ED? Obviously mic/headset is working in all other apps, it's detected fine in DCS but it doesn't appear that DCS actually tries to use the Mic (it doesn't appear in Windows 10 list of recent apps using the Mic).
  3. Just wanted to chime in and say that you are making a good choice. I went with an AMD GPU and FreeSync display last year and I have no regrets at all. It was $300 dollars CAD cheaper to buy Asus Strix Vega 64 and a 35" 21:9 3440 x 1440 curved FreeSync display from Asus than it was to buy an Asus GTX 1080 and Asus G-Sync monitor. I used that saved money to move to 32GB RAM in my system and get drunk. Since you already have the 1080, I might suggest the X35 would be a good value, or you can spend more on an IPS panel if you are concerned about colour accuracy. I believe that X35 Omen is a VA panel, very similar to my Asus XG35VQ, which is FreeSync. IPS has better colour, but VA has inky blacks that I suggest viewing in person. They also tend not to suffer from Black Light Bleed, as expensive IPS panels do. In general, I would just make sure you are dealing with a place that will accept a return if you have dead pixels, or bad black light bleed. I hate the idea of ordering something for $1500 dollars and then being told 'those dead pixels are within industry standard' so I would try to buy local if that makes it any easier. Oh and your CPU should be fine but a bit longer. 32GB RAM really helped with the Hornet module, and adding nice wide monitor makes everything better.
  4. I'm on an Asus XG35VQ, 35", 1800R curvature. For flying helis, being able to look further into your turns is literally a life saver, especially in combat. It's just more immersion in every craft of course. With track IR it really becomes a great thing. This is where you wanna make sure you can get 60-100FPS at your resolution of choice and have variable refresh rate (Freesync or Gsync). I moved to Vega 64 from RX 580 when I went to 21:9 3440 x 1440. The other thing that is great, this is a VA panel. Everyone wants IPS, and I've always used IPS screens as I'm a consultant in the publishing industry (at times) but VA offers great colours, and the blacks are deep and inky. This makes a huge difference when you are trying to see something. A darker thing in a dark sky for example. IPS is great for colour accurate reproduction, viewing angle, but I found this VA panel to be ideal for gaming. VA traditionally sucks in grey to grey refresh rate, but I haven't found it to be problematic at all. If you were flying in snow 24/7 maybe not the perfect screen but if you don't want to spend money on IPS, Gsync and 144Hz, this Asus is 100Hz, FreeSync and is bright and colourful for about 30% less than a competing IPS panel. If you have unlimited budget, buy a 4K, IPS, G-Sync display and a GPU that can drive it at least 60FPS you might have a better system, but if you have a somewhat limited budget, I decided that 2K @ 100Hz on a 35" curved display was much nicer than 4K @ 60Hz on a 27", for the same type of money.
  5. Just in case this helps somehow, I am having this in the SA342 but not in the A10C or Hornet. Intel CPU, AMD GPU, tested with FreeSync on and off. EDIT: tested with Water low and medium, no change. Tried various Lens Flare settings, Depth of Field settings, Shadows off...no change... in the Gazelle as soon as you hit the batt switch it's flickertown
  6. Really looking forward to seeing DCS with Vulkan on my 8GB Vega 64. It beats the GTX 1080 and below at everything else under Vulkan so I am very hopeful to see that on DCS.
  7. I went with an Asus XG35VQ and Asus Strix Vega 64. Best combination of good performance now, FreeSync and Vulkan support for later. I'm sure an Nvidia solution would be better for DX11 but to get Variable Refresh Rate on Nvidia will cost an extra 200-300 USD for the display.
  8. just wanted to chime into say the Smooth preset in TrackIR software works well for me, if its too sensitive its hard to click sometimes. Trackclip pro is considered active IR as it emits IR light. trackIR hat clip is passive and just reflects light emitted by the camera and is considered less accurate. in my experience. it was a giant pain in the ass to use the trackclip pro and it's assembly is just about the cheapest you can possibly imagine. i use the hat option and it's much better, hat and headphones is better than headphones and a power cord and clip thingy that is made like crap.
  9. get well soon cap. I'll do what I can
  10. I am using Asus Strix Vega 64 8GB. It's a great card, and I think you'll be just fine on it. It's still 200 CAD cheaper than a 1080 Ti. I've always used Nvidia but the RX 580 was the only sane upgrade from a 770 SLI rig I could find (didn't want to go from 2 x 2GB x 256-bit cards to 1 x 192 bit 6GB 1060 so I bought an 8GB RX 580 with excellent DX12 support) so I ended up with a FreeSync display too. Now here I am on Vega it seems. No regrets, FreeSync is beautiful. I undervolt my Vega 64, it runs faster/cooler and uses less a tiny bit less juice that way.
  11. This cd38 to cd13 worked for my machine also.
  12. For what it's worth I am running with the system below and it's beautiful.
  13. Got my first DCS Hornet A-A kills tonight. 1. My setup is in sig. Ultrawide 35" panel kicks ass with Track IR. I find it very easy to judge aspect etc. Try Smooth setting in TrackIR software. It's in the little drop down menu that says Default. 2. What are you panning on a hat switch? What range are you talking about? I think one of the biggest things is to make sure you are using the radar properly. The NWS button also cancel the STT mode and returns to RWS. It's important to be able to switch to your 9Ms and guns because that will adjust your radar according. I believe there may be a gun acquisition mode which will work best in a dogfight to keep a target locked. I would suggest making sure that you are well aware of the position you are in when you are merging. Who has more speed? Vc in the HUD is the close rate, make note of their speed and alt when you are merging so you know exactly what is going to happen in the merge. And don't be afraid to fire a missile to make someone turn away from you. Don't be afraid to run or crank hard to make them turn. Much easier engaging with a wingman also.
  14. I just upgraded to the monitor in my sig. I was on 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz. It was fine but needed/wanted something better for work and after much research, I'd really recommend looking at something like a 34" ultrawide with G-Sync or FreeSync. It's much easier to drive a 2K display than 4K and ultrawide with FreeSync is so immersive with track IR. I happened to get an AMD card recently, so fortunately FreeSync is a bit cheaper than G-Sync. Variable refresh rate is definitely a great feature if you can get it, and silky smooth 48-100Hz is what my panel does. My RX 580 overclocks pretty well, but I basically get 65-75FPS in most situations and usually it's a bit higher than that. That's 3440 x 1440px, 8x Ansiotropic, low shadows, low civ traffic, medium water, everything else is on max. Hope that helps.
