  1. For my franken force fx I used 1/2" copper tubing, 45 degree fittings and epoxy to avoid any bending or hot work. I slotted the copper tubing to match the keys on the gimbal stud on the base. Then I used hose clamps to secure it in place. This has proved secure, easily adjustable and quick to breakdown for transport.
  2. Thanks its been a while since I looked @ that screen in a while. I totally ignored the download page.
  3. Ive had to reinstall my OS and DCS:BS. When I try to activate my copy of BS the activation program tells me that my serial number is invalid. I contacted Star-Force tech support and after verifying that I am running the most recent copy protection software they told me to contact the publisher because "Serial number management is fully up to them." I tried to send an email to support & webmaster @DigitalCombatsimulator.com but both got bounced back. Do I contact The Fighter Collection or Eagle Dynamics about this problem?? Ive searched on the forums for a resolution but all the post say that I should contact Star-Force which hasnt really worked out.
  4. Yeah i have a Logitech Wingman Force 3D in my franken force. I think all i did was disable the centering force. I did notice when i used the stick in its stock configuration it was way to jumpy and the twist rudder caused allot of control issues. But after the conversion to franken force with a 14" extension the logitech FFB has proven itself. In the end Logitech gets a bad rap on their sticks cause the gimbals, the pots are low quality and the twist rudder issue i mentioned. But their force feed back circuitry is on par with whats available and a good base for a FFB stick mod. Dont use the logitech pots, they are complete junk in comparison to CH pots. I followed the tutorial on the CH forums and it was very easy to follow. Im now working on rudder pedals using a logitech momo wheel. Ill have some pictures of that in the thread i started awhile ago about my franken force. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36248
  5. Now there is a man in need of a copy of DCS:Black shark. For the safety of his neighbors and himself.
  6. That thing is awesome!! Its got the cutest lil cyclic. I could totally land that thing on my roof. -op4
  7. you can take advantage of affinity trick you just have to do it manually every time you load a mission. we dont get the advantage of a script. -op4
  8. Cool my uncle flew one of those in Vietnam. When I visited him and his fam when I was a kid he let me try on his flight suit and helmet. I heard they had a bunch in Thailand as well. Apparently there is a night fighting version (yes I know its an Observation plane) with a 20mm cannon sounds like sweetness. I know they have a OV-10 for FSX but its just not the same when you dont have to dodge the AAA. -op4
  9. What OS are you using? I have an EVGA 8800GTS 640, I use WinXP 32 with the latest nvidia drivers no problems unless I do allot of alt-tabbing w/ pauses to start other applications. -op4
  10. I bought a G.skill 128gb SSD (not the TITAN) in january, Im not really happy with it so I RMA'd it and will be reselling the new one when it arrives. Basically it boils down to this -WinXP stutters and hangs (I did notice faster loadtimes but that doesnt mean squat if it hangs for a couple of minutes after loading WinXp really quickly) -G.skill marketed and sold it as a HDD replacement -G.skill provides no compatibility lists and poor customer support (they actually recommend you go to the OCZ forums) -It is a non-returnable item But Newegg did me a solid and let me RMA it after my 30 days were up. -Ive actually notice an improvement in frames since I went back to my Raptor. And before everyone jumps on me saying you have to align partitions, etc... I followed the guides on the OCZ forum to the T and had no luck:mad:. Im pretty sure that my older NF4 Mobo and the SSD are not 100% compatible. G.skill has been so useless Im glad I never patronized them before cause I sure as hell wont again. -op4
  11. Yeah im sure it will catch on with the FPS crowd like wildfire like every other FPS specific controller released in the last 10 years..... :music_whistling:. -op4
  12. yeah ive got no deadzone or special setting for my collective, I use a CH pro throttle. Early on I thought I had to adjust it becuse it did not seem to move smoothly, but I soon realized to use the collective brake when I adjust the collective and it removed any jumpiness. -op4
  13. Isnt force feedback part of the whole DirectX package? The other thing that is peculiar is the fact that they have chosen a system that isnt 100% sealed and has a sump! Sounds very interesting though. -op4
  14. delevero, You mention your OS is vista, what else you got under the hood? Your in game graphics settings would help us evaluate the effectiveness of this program. I personally have noticed an improvement using the manual method of setting affinity in WinXP32 but it is a PITA to have to do every mission. The biggest improvement came with a simple OC to 2.8ghz on my cpu. -op4
  15. @GG You are correct, Sir:music_whistling:. I just look down at my tach and when I see its past the 6 ( I was just assuming it was by thousands) I switch over to the right engine. Sorry for the erroneous info  -op4
  16. I believe the turbine Idle RPM is around 6k, the needle (numbered 1) will stop climbing on the tachometer. Each turbines RPM is indicated by its own numbered needle. -op4
  17. Purely out of curiosity,I was wondering if anyone had any schematics of the KA-50 avionics system. Something similar to the ones featured on the homepage that cover the fuel, power plant and electrical systems. Something like this But detailing the avionics linkages and controls. -op4
  18. Well most of the time in the campaign your wingmen are just waxing poetic about the canals and the countryside so it not like your missing out on allot of tactical info. All the other voice messages regarding missile launches and their position are in Russian-accented English. -op4
  19. Sounds interesting i will have to check this out. I was noticing that as well, But I wasnt sure if it was my new SSD or something else. -op4
  20. If you look in the Cockpits and Hotas section HERE you will find a plethora of threads ranging from simpit builds to joystick flame wars. It may take a bit of reading but you will definitely get allot of info from them. -op4
  21. Yeah, I don't expect the FFB to keep me from manipulating the pedals just to give me enough resistance to simulate the mechanical resistance in the system. The motors in my franken force look to be about 3x the size of the ones in the logitech wingman 3d and I have extended the joystick with a 12" length of tubeing. They are plenty strong enough to overpower the lever (12" extension) so I hope that the 2 motors in most FFB wheels will be strong enough to give the required resistance. -op4
  22. @trigger No problem, I understand wanting to make sure they stay together and being sure of the geometry. I have also been thinking about how to implement FFB on the pedals as well, my solution involves the the sacrifice of a USB FFB steering wheel on the Altar of DIY. As for the construction of the pedals I noticed you used screws to hold all the parts together, did you use glue as well? I have a pin nailer, so nails plus glue should be more than enough to keep it all together. -op4
  23. lol thats pretty damn cool. Also a potential canidate for the Darwin Awards, dont forget to buckle up!!
