  1. No, I did not find a source corroborating that. Tom Cooper & Farzard Bishop's two books (Iran-Iraq War in the Air, and Iranian F-14 Tomcat Units in Combat) only state the number of claimed downed Super Etandards by IRIAF, but do not mention anything about the said engagement on that day. Col. Mazandarani, however, is a decorated war veteran and an extremely reliable source for that matter (he even responded and corrected one of Showtime112 video's about the first Tomcat kill), so if there is a "video" interview of him claiming the kill, I'll take it with confidence. Having watched several of his interviewes (on YouTube) in the past, I don't immediately recall that recalled engagement. It takes time to search and rewatch his interviews so I can hear first hand about how the engagement and subsequent kill went down.
  2. I searched the Internet and there is nothing beyond what is known publicly about Fakour-90 (latest variant designated as AIMF-90B). Articles are somewhat high on propaganda (such as missile having higher performance than original AIM-54) and low on useful technical data that can be relied on to model it's performance accurately. Here is a link to a public article (https://www.tasnimnews.com/fa/news/1399/08/18/2385086/گزارش-تسنیم-از-تغییرات-در-مهمترین-موشک-هوابه-هوای-ایرانی-گام-های-بلند-برای-پرکردن-جای-فینیکس). 3. Good points on both sides. Now, R-73 would be an exception as its adaptation most likely does not require any change in the cockpit in terms of switchology. The techinical aspects such as weight and drag are also known, so adjusting module for its adaptation would be accurate and realistic. What remains is more proof that this missile is actually deployed in service as a standard weapon as opposed to a one-off experiment. Even if such evidence comes to light, I don't see HB jumping to support it. The problem with modding it, of course, is that it will breaks integrity checks and that limits its usage in DCS greatly.
  4. Obviously it would be great if HB supported that for IRIAF.
  5. I was also impatient and went ahead with removing openbeta from my directory names, both for the main install folder as well as Saved Games. One thing to add to the above steps is that after renaming the "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta" to "Saved Games\DCS", you need to edit the "dcs_variant.txt" file (under the main install folder) and remove the word "openbeta" and save it (essentially a blank file.) Without this step, DCS keeps looking for DCS.openbeta folder and when finds none, it creates its own empty one. I suppose this can apply for Stable release too which the file includes the word stable as oppose to openbeta.
  6. The livery for this SM variant has the following arguments: [619] = 0.5 , -- 0=Mk , 0.5=SM, 1=MKM [620] = 0.05, -- 0.05=SM , 0.05-0.15=MKI , 0.15=MKA [622] = 0.0, -- >0.5 Show Comparing to the arguments for one of the default SM liveries show small difference: [619] = 0.5,-- 0=Mk , 0.5=SM, 1=MKM [620] = 0.02, -- 0.05=SM , 0.05-0.15=MKI , 0.15=MKA <<<<< [622] = 0.0, -- >0.5 Show I will change the second line to 0.02 and see whether that makes a difference or not. Just to add that the pilot's head is not missing all the time. In fact, in many flights that I have had with this mod, I only noticed once that the head was disappearing and reappearing continuously. Edit: After several flights, the pilot head remains present over the body Hopefully problem is solved. Having said that, the notation clearly says "0.05=SM" so the value of 0.05 used was not incorrect.
  7. Not sure the issue of headless pilot has been reported or not, but I noticed pilot's head in the mirror keeps disappearing and reappearing. I took this screenshot from outside to show. It's a bit freaky.
  8. After a couple of days of trying this further, I've gotten better but in my opinion, flight model is not as much stable behind the tanker. Further back, plane is more stable but as I approach the tanker the oscillation due to turbulence increases and the basket just keeps going up and down with minimal or no input to throttle/pitch on my part. Connecting to basket has become a skill to time my slow approach to its up/down movement. I tank relatively easy with F-16, F-14, Su-33, etc. but at this point Su-30 is the only mod it's giving a challenge. Maybe it is a mental thing but maybe not. Good to know you can tank easily but I would like to hear from other folks as well on how they do. Regardless, I absolutely love this mod and fly with it frequently. Thanks for all the hard work and your continuing work on the FBW system to make it even more accurate. Already waiting for Su-35S when your work on this mod concludes.
  9. Thanks for the prompt reply (as usual). I tried all three modes (On, Off, and Auto) and only in Auto the plane seemed a little more stable, but still could not connect! I usually connect in first or second try but today I just struggled to connect to basket despite my many attempts. I am not sure I have a twitchy hand today so I would like to see what other fellow simmers experience with AAR. Hope they chime in and let us know. My question is was this modeled before in earlier releases or not? Again, I never had any issue tanking with Su-30 before and now it's become a struggle. Thanks,
  10. It may be that flight model has become too sensitive in 2.7.50 release. This shows itself in Air-to-Air refueling. Up until 2.7.43 release of this mod, I could tank rather easily but all of a sudden, plane pitches up and down constantly behind the tanker despite being trimmed and softly handled. Just to make sure it is not me, I went and did some tanking with Su-33, Tomcat and all was fine. I came back to Su-30 and again, drogue is going up and down constantly without any direct input on pitch from me. This leads me to believe that perhaps the flight model of the plane that has become too sensitive (or too good depending on how one sees it.) I generally don't mind a good challenge as long as it is realistic, so I would like to hear from others and get their experience regarding aerial tanking. Thanks!
  11. Great update but the pilot seat position for VR seems not to be fixed! In the previous release, I was able to modify the Views_SM.lua file and get the correct seat position that I wanted, but now putting the same numbers no longer work! What happened and how can I resolve this issue? This is definitely a simple fix and don't know why it was not addressed in this release! [14] = {--default view - VR viewAngle = 60.000000,--FOV viewAngleVertical= 0.000000,--VFOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = -0.04000, <<<<<<<<< y_trans = 0.015000, <<<<<<<<< z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, cockpit_version = 0, Thanks. Edit: Solved. There are two instances of "[14] = {--default view - VR " in the file and once I changed both of them, then the pilot seat position got fixed. Still, ideally this issue should have been addressed in this release.
  12. The northern part of Iraq is absolutely important and essential not only for the Mosul and fight against IS, but also because it was the focus of many Iran-Iraq war operations both air-to-ground (attack on army bases / oil installations of Kirkuk and Erbil) as well as air-to-air engagements. Many of the Iranian F-5Es took off from TFB-2 in Tabriz (just a tad north of the map provided above - which I truly wish it would extend further north to cover it.) This region is also where many MiG-23's were downed by Tomcats both in BVR and WVR combats (three in one engagement alone!) This map also provides us ability to enact the H3 Airstrike (https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/H3_airstrike), which remains one of the most daring and successful aerial attacks in the history (eights Phantoms performing multiple refueling at extremely low levels in total radio silence to reach H3 and inflicting heavy losses to the Iraqi air force.) I could not have asked for a better start to Iraq map than this. Once map is extended to the south, it would give us an amazing opportunity to cover so much. I personally cannot wait for the release of Phantom and the initial phase of Iraq map, to finally be able to fly at 50-100FT all the way from the Iranian border to the most heavily defended city of Baghdad and battle SAMs to attack the oil refinery there. Dreams are coming true! Thank you ED/Nick!
  13. This map was on the top of my wish list and I am so excited about it. Although, as stated, when it comes to air-to-air engagement, Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom are pale in comparison to the Iran/Iraq war. With the upcoming F-4E and MiG-23 in the works, we pretty much have everything we need to enact those engagements. Too bad this map is likely to exclude northern Iraq and Western Iran, specially the Tactical Fighter Base-3 in Hamedan where Phantoms were based and operated from (BTW, if I'm not mistaken Phantoms from this base were involved in operations against IS in Iraq as well.) I hope ED would at least consider including TFB-4 in Dezful (which is much closer to the Iraqi border in the south) where the F-5s were based. For this new map, we need at least one base inside Iran where we can operate from.
  14. The light probe still broken after all these months. See: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/320999-f-14-refueling-probe-light/
  15. I believe the culprit is the Space key assignment used for Trigger and Spacebar used in campaign to advance as part of controlling the progression of tasks. I reassigned the Trigger key and it launched without any issue. Since Space is the default key assigned by Heatblur, I don't understand why others are not running into this issue the way I did!? Since this campaign is my very first DCS campaign, I am not familiar with how this is supposed to be handled. At any case, I will reassign the Trigger until I finish this before going back to using Space as the default key. Edit: I clear my Hotas assignments for all modules inside DCS and use a program to manage the key bindings outside the DCS. Folks who did not run into this most likely are using Hotas with assignments managed inside DCS.
