  1. The Eurofighter seems capable but not superior in the low level dogfight regime. An upgrade was propose (AMK) to increase the maneuverability, but to my knowledge, no nation has yet picked it up. Here’s a video which may be of interest: The video shows a Danish F-16AM dogfighting a Eurofighter. The commentary is done by an RDAF F-16AM fighter pilot, but he is not the one flying in any of the clips. He mentions that at low speeds, they still have a “really good chance” against the Eurofighters, take that as you will. If you need any particular part of the video translated, just ask!
  2. Super cool picture, if it's possible to figure out the exact variant of this I would love to know it. Also, any clue what the text on the note says? Looks like it's an exhibit in a museum (clean walls, no tools or anything close by) so potentially not one of the very newest variants.
  3. Yeah that would be perfect, the J-8F and JH-7 were personally at the top of my list since I thought the J-10 to be impossible. Now that it seems those are very unlikely too, a Q-5 would definitely be the best-case scenario, especially if it is a modern variant.
  4. Do you reckon that's possible? It seems to me that the domestic chinese hardware is what is preventing them from making a lot of the modules. Uboats even stated it wasn't possible to do the simultaneous version of the J-8 that was developed from the J-8PP, even though they looked into it.
  5. If the issue is as described by the Engima’s team, a solution is sorely needed
  6. @uboats Will we get more pictures of the J-8 PP specifically at some point? The amount of images of the real thing is not very high, and I get the impression you took some pictures of it yourselves. Would love to see some pictures both of the cockpit and the outside of the J-8PP if possible! Edit: Seems my prayers were almost immediately answered in this QnA thread
  7. Very curious if Deka's interested in expanding the J-8 after the Peace Pearl is complete. Moving into other J-8 variants and using the PP as a baseline could be awesome, though it may be the case that it isn't possible at all. I know uboats wasn't keen to answer such a question last I asked, but it is still fun to speculate.
  8. Can't wait to see what this turns out to be. Would be a lie to say I'm not slightly disappointed that they went for the version with western avionics, but if that's where Deka can get verifiable data and reliable documentation, that's understandable enough. In the end, it's better to have this than to have none at all, and it will still be on my wishlist for sure.
  9. Issue with an odd texture overlay that seems to be "dragging" along certain surfaces when SSAO is enabled. This occurs in multiple, if not all modules. Specifically noticed in: JF-17, F-16, MiG-21, Mirage 2000, F-14 and Viggen Probably occurs in all modules, but have not flown others enough to have noticed as of late. Clip of the bug attached as MP4, sampled from the JF-17. The texture dragging can be spotted on the grey/shadowed metal part just below the canopy seal. It seemes to be a reoccuring theme that it happens in shaowed areas. The "smudge" will precisely follow the camera movements, both with zoom, mouse movements or TrackIR use. It will also move between textures/surfaces and still be the same pattern. Also attached is a picture of my settings page. This issue occurs regardless of the Secondary Shadows setting and seems to be solely affected by SSAO. Texture bug 2.mp4
  10. Maybe you could make it on something like a tennis cap, if you feel like an all-head cap would be too much? Also just FYI, the TrackIR software seems to have to settings, one for the hat which looks for reflectors, and then one for the clip which looks for LEDs in the position of the clip, but there might be some way to change that in the settings.
  11. Seems like the ideal solution, sadly just not possible on my headset, as it almost from the top to the tip of the ear. I endud up attaching it with two velcro stickers, one in the middle and one at the top, to the ear cup of my headset. It's not concealed behind the cup but still not too visible from my own perspective, and seems to stay somewhat straight in the camera. For I got tired of the hat, as it felt kind of... constrictive? It felt uncomfortable to have the hat on, and then a headset on top, but I know some people play like that anyway. I had a lot of problems with looking upwards with the hat, as it lost track of the reflectors really easily. The clip does the same, but has a little more wiggleroom, and as long as I'm not looking directly straight, it barely seems to lose track. The reflectors are just reflectors too, which means that the camera would sometimes pick up my glasses or even just a closet handle or anything reflective in the background, which would result in having to do small head jiggles for the camera to pick them up as primary again.
  12. I got my DelanClip, pulled it out the box, slapped the velcro's on my headset and tried it out. I have the TrackIR camera along with the hat, but opted for buying the actual clip from DelanClip, as the hat gave me headaches after a while. Now, I find it pretty tough to align it when attaching it to the headset. It's either at an angle (which makes it so that, if I look to my left or right, TrackIR thinks I'm tilting my head, even though im not), or clicking against the side of the headset, which is very audible on the inside. How have people attached it to their headset? Any suggestions welcome.
  13. Hey all I've been flying the F-16 for ~2 months now, and I've come to the conclusion that it isn't just me being weird. I feel like the throttle is curved in a weird way. I've checked everywhere, all the settings menues in DCS and on my HOTAS and all, but there are no curves to be found. The afterburner is around about the same place as on the F-18, but all the space below the afterburner detent is kinda scaled weirdly? I feel like I have basically no low-speed control, but a LOT of control just below and above the afterburner. I've flown a lot of the modules in DCS and I haven't felt like the throttle has had this weird curve before, is it just me, is it intentional or is it maybe a bug?
