  1. I'll deny everything, my report doesn't reflect what you said!
  2. Once more, I'd like to watch out for my fellow fans and their mental health and point out that lack of progress pictures doesn't mean lack of progress. It literally just allows one conclusion: Nobody posted more pictures. That's the only definitive statement that can be drawn out of it. HB is very transparent about everything they do And if you follow their posts, you'll find out that they are actually very busy people, and it seems that a lot of the things they do is also furthering the production of other aircraft. Background stuff we don't care about. That's the problem, they still have to do that background stuff, precisely so we don't have to care about it. But it's invisible work. Feels frustrating if you're hawking for progress. But that's my take on it, so I work on managing my expectations. So, Typhoon is creeping along while they get the Phantom into a state that's not entirely embarrassing (which I assume is their actual metric "Let's not embarrass ourselves at least, alright?" for Early Access haha, j/k). On the flip side, speculating about 3 or 4 years until release... that's just torturing oneself. Personally - I'm not going to tell you how to manage your expectations - but I like to just go by "stuff has to happen before Typhoon" and that's the only state I need to know for now. Nothing that happens in this thread or any other thread posted by users will make the Typhoon come faster or slower. /ramble
  3. @Victory205 Thank you for that video. Nothing as infectious as children laughing and having fun! @IronMike You're doing good, Jester's fine. A lot of man hours went into recording him and I think Graywolf did a good job at voice acting. Sometimes Jester is a little too motivated (Dude, we're still 50 ft above ground, stop talking about your wife, dang! And I know the basket is a little bit to the right. I can see that, what do you think I'm looking at! :P) but it could be so so much worse. Been playing since release, still not getting boring. And honestly, having a two ship with a full crew, that's a level of multiplayer that other people just won't get. Strike Eagle will have the same awesome experience, it's a special breed that sits in the back and directs the action like a quarterback with the baddest, meanest assortment of weaponry available.
  4. Luckily, you can't turn your engines on without your crew chief telling you to, so hopefully he's paying attention to random people walking near the intake or exhaust.
  5. Just using the opportunity to thank you for all the time and effort you put into your posts. It's interesting to see your perspective and putting yourself out there is not something many SMEs like to do. I greatly appreciate the simultaneously entertaining nature and the inside scoop of your posts. People like me are always hunting for those nuggets of wisdom gold that people like you tend to (acceidentally) hide in half-sentences and as afterthoughts, because it's all obvious to you. This post confirmed my suspicion that when a fellow simmer took me to a flat scissors at 80-100 knots, it felt unnatural. Sure I was excited that the plane was still controllable (what with zero risk to my life as well), but the bastard in the back of my head went "We shouldn't be doing this, this feels all kinds of wrong and not the most efficient way to handle this situation" all the while he kept telling me how fun it is to scare Hornet drivers by being even slower than they dare! Luckily, I don't PvP a lot, so it's inconsequential to me and at the same time an interesting experience. But as you pointed out, it's a bit too bold for the real world. And thus my interest in that particular flight regime dropped below "Well, I guess technically you can do it... and now I know what to avoid doing."
  6. If this disappoints you incredibly, it is a pretty decent sign that you are not managing your expectations properly. When thinking about the EF Typhoon, think in years, not weeks or months. Patience, it will take a while to get here. Having more news doesn't make it go any faster.
  7. Nowhere, presumably? They have a bit more on their plate than picking pictures because we are curious. Curiousity doesn't put food on their table.
  8. Can confirm. Only time I broke the hook was when I went up 4-2-2 and gas up to the brim and immediately returned for a landing. Was pleasantly surprised by a gentle reminder of the aircraft that I'm about 15k lbs too heavy with a subtle *plink* when the hook broke off. Now all we need is barricades to finish that experience... oh and well, basically everything else on the SC. But at least we have a daytime platcam and 4 wires. Worth the 40 bucks.
  9. Hey, thanks for dropping in. That's a whole lot of experience. Not flying the A-4 myself, but there are a lot of fans around here!
  12. Thanks, very helpful input in a very long history of useful nuggets of knowledge. I'm curious, when you say the wingman's lights are enough to paint lead, it doesn't seem to work out quite the same way in DCS. Is it just me? Also, the external lights seem to be very dim. Assuming a sort of half-moon lighting, how far out would you comfortably spot the anti-collision lights? When would you see the green nav light? How far would you see the slime lights? They don't look very bright on the Tomcat in DCS, but night vision is hard to simulate in games, of course. They just switch off at anything beyond cruise. In a no-moon illuminated night, it's a pain to maintain mutual support visually. Did you guys mainly rely on TACAN? How much comms was required? I'm also assuming that star light helps a lot more irl than in the game...
