  1. Hello gents, Did anyone notice a performance drop in VR, using foveated rendition/Multi-threading + Varjo Aero, from the latest software update (2.8.6.41066.1) ? I was previously enjoying so much flying 90 frames/sec no something nor reprojection stuff. Multi-trheading + foveated rendition was the win win combo with no compromise and now I deplore the stutters fest comeback. I didn't finger at all my graphic settings and my rig is more than up to date to face power demand (I9 13900K + RTX 4090 + 32Gb RAM DDR5). Many thanks to share your own experiences Best regards
  2. Hi gents, Anyone please to outline his Varjo Aero settings to match latest DCS MT iteration. It's clearly confusing for newbies to understand how to set up adequately V sync/motion smoothing combo (fixed 45, 30 or automatic, enables if app supports it, etc..). Would appreciate as well if someone could post his DCS ingame system settings for a high end rig : I9 13900k + RTX 4090 + 64Gb RAM + SSD. I'm pretty sure I miss something... Many thanks in advance folks
  3. Hello Gents, Since the last openbeta update (2.7.11.21408.1) and Apache installation, I encounter VR issues as shown below : https://youtu.be/dl3vYuYBqE0 Despite my attempt to repair files (slow method), reinstallation of Steam VR app, Nvidia control Panel settings reset, nothing works. I fly the sim mainly in VR and it was running smoothly so far with my high end PC (RTX 3090/I9 9900K/ HP Reverb G2). Your help would be highly appreciated for troubleshooting. Thanks

  5. Sorry to hear about that Nozzle, what a disappointment indeed, especially if we consider how complicated it is to return the defective item to China. It looks like that company is not concerned by after sales services which is gonna be prejudicial to their expansion in western countries. tcheers
  6. Hi folks, I've been using my brand new Winwing supertaurus for just 2 months and the finger lifts on the throttle are no longer working. I mean no valid input in Simapp application and DCS F18 module. It looks like the internal mecanism or switch is dead. Any clue please for troubleshooting. It would be a nightmare to return the device to China as it took almost one month to be delivered the parcel when ordered online. What a frustration !! One more issue to ruin my experience, the radar elevation wheel on the grip is no longer recognized in DCS F18 with no explanation.... It was working perfectly one week ago. However, contrary to the fingerlifts, it is recognized in SimappPro. Any help highly appreciated gents
  7. Hi Speed-of-heat, thanks you for sharing your experience and tweaks. I'm a french simmer and got my G2 a couple of days ago. I was expecting a "Waouh" effect right out of the box on my high end rig (I9 9900K 32Gb RAM / RTX3090). So far I was simming in VR with Reverb G1 and was actually enjoying a lot the smoothness with all sliders maxed out and MSAA 4, Steam VR SS at 140%. Ghosting at very low altitude / high speed on F18 was barely noticeable when overflying the battlefield with numerous explosions smoke. Like many simmers, I was teased by the G2 ipd manual adjustment device and the promise of an unprecedented clarity, brightness. Eventually it's a tremendous disappointment as with no tweaking, right out of the box, unsustainable ghosting is spoiling my visual experience. Yes I can't deny a better clarity, an eye candy colorful image but at the expense of a smaller sweetspot and a laggy ghosting side effect when looking around with the same DCS / Steam VR setting as for the G1. I was thinking that the hardware design technology was pretty similar between the two generations. Infact I have to lower my settings and/or Steam VR SS at the point the compromise is not visually acceptable. So I gonna give a try to your recommendations. Hopefully it’s gonna help to convince me not to roll back to G1. Greetings

  9. One thing to add is that VULKAN API is involved in FS2 VR graphics rendition...
  10. I agree with you 100%, FS2 is in no way a competitor on the hardcore military flight simulation market. By mentionning FS2, I was just willing to give some pointers on this very topic related to the sensation of speed. My rig is up to date and is giving satisfaction (RTX3090/I9 9900K combo) with no stutters at all except when you overfly multiple ground explosions after a bombing run. I see no ghosting, and framerate is more than decent with STEAM supersampling at 140%, MSAA 4x. but definitely, sensation of speed is the frustating point on my side. Yeaaaah man !!! That's it... Thanks for showing the real life as it is and as it is missing in DCS VR. One day hopefully
  11. You are right about scaling and Syria map with regards to Caucasus. And I'm on the same page regarding the level of detail or ground clutter as a factor affecting highly the sensation of speed. But actually, the sensation of speed in VR is unfortunately not even close to reality. And surely for an optical limitation reason, this is the trade off for VR users compared to 2D monitors users...
  12. What do I want, Wilbur81 ? just a kind word of ED team, saying we know that and soon or later technology should be responding to that matter. Or something like, yes it is actually technically speaking feasible but not considered as it would be too costy or complex to workout the core software or whatever. Needless to be the spear head of ED, I just express my personal wish list, shared by many others. And by the way, DCS isn't only a video game anymore as they are targeting a professional market, my national Air Force being a client. regards
  13. I understand your point but persist to say the sensation of speed is unproperly rendered as you must achieve something like 600Kts to obtain this result. And flying that close to the ground at 500 or 600Kts would give you way much more sensation in real life for sure. The usual speed flown in real life as shown on the real footage is around 450Kts. Most of the time, if you pay attention to ED youtube ads, boasting a new scenery or module, very low altitude cities overflying is always shot at 700Kts in the HUD. So they know they have to boost the speed rendition to be more immersive, impressive and then realistic...
  14. See no offence buddy but this topic makes sense to me and is not as irrelevant as you think. Disregard the topic if it is bothering you in any way. I respect your opinion and therefore expect mine to be respected in return. One more time it is a true fact that the sensation of speed is realistically rendered flying Aerofly FS2 in VR, and this software it is way much less ambitious than DCS. And If you had read carefully my post, you would have noticed that I do not question the airspeed of the aircraft as a parameter itself... The sensation of speed is not properly rendered whatever the detail of clutter is displayed. And when I fly in VR with my HP reverb at a given FOV, with almost all sliders maxed out, boosted by my RTX3090/I9 9900K, I persist to say it is frustrating as we are so close to perfection. No doubt soon or later, computer technology will be matching expectations with no compromise, unless it is already feasible today. Now if you are satisfied as it is, perfect enjoy.
  15. Sorry guys, with all due respect, I don’t talk about any subjective feelings. It’s a matter of fact that speed sensation is like bottlenecked in DCS VR. Virtual pilots not convinced should investigate by inquiring any real military jet skipper. By the way I’m in touch with professional flight simulation imagery designers (THALES) and I’ve been given the opportunity to experience a private flight sim session. In one word, nothing to be compared with DCS. Common guys, look outside over your shoulder, flying at 600kts/500Ft, it’s a slideshow in DCS. The keyword for THALES simulation division is the sensation of speed a very low altitude to meet their worldwide customers demands. And believe me it’s a struggle for in house engineering. The only legitimate observation down here to close the debate would be to object the unsustainable development cost, out of reach for a ED. Moreover a professional flight simulation imagery is powered by a hardware suite costing tens of thousands USD, which is out of reach for a public consumer market as well. It could be the final point if some consumer market products were not doing better in VR. I refer to Aerofly FS2 for instance, undoubtedly bringing to my eyes a more convincing sensation of speed in 3D environment like Manhattan or downtown Chicago. That’s why I opened this topic as a desperate call to catch ED core development team attention on this subject. I mean, out of twelve, not even a single of my fellow fighter pilots experiencing DCS in VR at home was satisfied as they were overflying the carrier at 500kts. All of them were claiming this is a critical point to be focused on. And by the way I’m a daily flyer and from my Airbus A320 cockpit, what I visually sense at 250KTS/3000Ft in real world is matching what DCS bring to my eyes at 500KTS. This is the undeniable truth. I’d rather be explained by Waggs or Big Newy that unfortunately DCS aging source code is outdated and limited, than being fooled by some people pointing out a dumb subjective misperception. And once again I’m neither blindfolded nor narrow minded when I’m objected any kind of technical explanation pertaining FOV, GOPRO like shooting tending to exaggerate the speed perception and so on. I do not question time equation, matching perfectly the ration distance/speed in DCS. but between two geographical poins, the rate of visible images per second for a given speed is not matching reality. Just trust your eyes, fly for real and make truthfully an objective opinion. regards
  16. Hi ED, First and foremost congrats for bringing to military flight simulation enthusiasts such a high level product. The only thing I’d like to report is lack of realism regarding the sensation of speed in VR. I already read some related posts on this forum and some users were not sharing this point of view, pleading it’s a subjective opinion, depending on the FOV and bla bla bla... why such a denial about this true fact ? The point here is not to criticize, nor blame anyone... I guess that DCS community is willing to practice flight simulation in such a manner they are getting close to reality, otherwise video games are available on the market. Reading this forum let me think people are expecting if not a study level flight simulator, at least a very realistic weaponry and onboard systems rendering. Then the visual environment is part of the immersion and especially when it comes to the sensation of speed a low altitude. In real life I fly a liner, and when I’m cleared for a case I type visual approach, I can certify that my downwind leg at 220 knots/ 1500ft is showing something similar to 450kt in DCS. It’s quite a bit frustrating if it is something a good coder could modify in DCS. Some people could argue again it’s my personal opinion as they are amply satisfied as it is. But objectively, a great deal of my friends, actual fighter pilots, flying French Mirage 2000 and Rafale, are amazed by DCS and commonly say this software is unbelievably close to the real world, except for the sensation of speed totally underestimated. And to give a good point of reference, they say it should be doubled. Some of these fellow fighters are even part of a team using DCS in VR for professional training in the Air Force. I was just willing to humbly share my frustration, thinking DCS is so close to perfection... regards
  17. Yes, I already reactivated the reprojection by editing the SteamVR file… Indeed it was deactivated after the last update. That's why my head is aching cause with no further input on my side, noticeable ghosting appeared suddenly from nowhere. From the cockpit eyeview even a high speed roll is showing ghosting or lag on the terrain outside. Same graphics settings on DCS and everthing untouched on WMR, SteamVR, Nvidia Control Panel. SteamVR SS 180%, global setting 100%. Same configuration was working so finely one Week ago. Brainstorming draining out my enthusiasm. I suspect any kind of Windows update or my last Nvidia GPU driver update Killing Something. I can just add relevantly one thing I noticed, since that ghosting showed up,..., image clarity and crispness seem boosted. Once again without fingering anything from the settings on my side. Maybe Something is related to the last openbeta update. It looks like the graphics enhancement is at the expense of smoothness. I even tried to lower the SS at 120%, with MSAA 0 in DCS… Ghosting still there…
  18. Hi gents, I follow this post thorougly as I experience a smoothness disruption as well these days. Just one Week back my VR flying exprerience was silky smooth at a fixed 45FPS. And from a couple of days ago, I noticed an ugly ghosting emerging whatever the SS settings from SteamVR. I reviewed every single item from the Thud's VR4DCS check-list and so far no way to get rid of this ghosting spoiling definitely my gaming experience. The issue is only perceptible Inside the cockpit look at the flight instruments, F-18 (glass cockpit) or F-14 (dials) whatever. Reprojection is properly activated on the SteamVR "default settings" file. I didn't change anything from DCS in the meantime. Did anyone experience the same weird experience ? Any help higly appreciated please. I feel so frustrated.:helpsmilie: by the way my rig is up to date : I9 9900k, RAM 32GB, 500GB SSD, GPU NVIDIA RTX2080TI
  19. Salut les gars, Je suis intéressé par la proposition pour rejoindre le team...
  20. AGM-65F Slew control Hi gents, From the latest change log, it is mentioned that the AGM65F slew has been fixed ??? But still unable to slew properly for target designation using Warthog throttle grip TDC.. Anyone for a helping hand would be highly appreciated..
  21. Thanks David OC for your detailed return. Relevant information. Regards
  22. Thanks folks for your comments, As Wags said properly there is nothing to fix. My rig specs are high (ASUS ROG GX800VH VR ready with SLI GTX 1080, 64GB SDRAM, 1,5TB SSD,..). I fly mainly in VR (Oculus CV1).. Super Sampling 1,8 from Oculus Tray Tool. At this time I fly solo with an AI wingman in Persian Gulf and Caucasus map. I’m really amazed by the realism and the overall sense of flight in DCS world. But sorry for my persistance to say that the sense of speed at 500KTs/1000FT AGL is matching what I see in real life at a ground speed of 250Kts/1000FT AGL, overheading my destination airport in visual approach... Immersion in VR is moreover fantastic except when it comes to the landscape passing by at low altitude and high speed. To be fair enough DCS world landscape rendition is way much better than most of the pro sims I’ve tried so far (Dassault Mirage 2000 and Rafale). The point is that sense of speed is playing a great part of the immersion. All of my fellow French fighters experiencing VR flight with DCS world agree with my subjective opinion. We are very close to the perfection anyhow. I could add that the sense of speed is better in 2D with the cockpit view zoomed out than in VR. Frustration is coming most of the time when we have the feeling that only a tiny detail is missing to reach out the perfection. Regards
  23. Hi ED développeurs, I have no words to express my enthusiasm flying your military PC-based sim showcasing such a high realism . I have only one disappointment if I may say so : the feeling of speed at low altitude. Over the years I was expecting that critical immersion factor to be improved from the CPU and GPU technology fast growing. Unfortunately, it looks like this specific rendition of the simulated flight is impossible to reproduce faithfully. I fly liners (Airbus 320) and when I look outside flying DCS at 500Kts/3000FT, If have the feeling of 250Kts in real life. The sim would gain a lot with a better rendition of this criteria. It’s just a personal opinion from a sim enthusiast following up your products from SU-27 Flanker. Keep up the good job and happy new year Regards :pilotfly:
  24. Hey gents, Please where to find updates logs please ??
