  1. Find a buddy with a Reverb and your favorite module and make up your mind at his place. Everything you hear from people who love/hate VR is biased by the time and money invested in VR. I went from a 1080p monitor to SO+ and the first time I tried VR I said "Oh Hell Yeah".
  2. Cool - glad I could help... :)
  3. Inside the mission Esc Adjust Controls Axis Assign scroll down to wheel brake left and click it Axis Tune and turn on Slider and click Invert same for the wheel brake right click OK return to mission and hit R-Ctrl+Enter to see effect
  4. Retreating blade stall, mast bumping, rotor collisions... Not the way man was meant to fly - helicopters should be illegal - they're just wrong :megalol:
  5. If you enjoyed Boyd's bio here is an interview with the author https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/podcast-101-the-fighter-pilot-who-changed-the-art-of-war-with-robert-coram/ The Airforce hates Boyd and the Marines love him...
  6. The low price was $300 so $150 + shipping sounds about right. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Reverb but I need to find a surgeon to change my IPD to 63. Probably have to remove 4mm from the part of the brain connecting the two halves but I don't think that'll have any effect on my flight simming. I usually donate old computer gear to the high school computer instructor but in this case I'll keep the Samsung controllers after making sure they can pair with the Reverb.
  7. Thanks Fenrir - that cockpit looks like it was designed by a locomotive manufacturer. The landing gear hydraulic manifold must weigh thrity pounds by itself.

    Offline updates

I've seen civilization - you can keep it. :megalol: My only internet option is satellite. A grand total of 25 Gb per month with a free period between midnight and 5 AM. If updates take more than five hours I stop the download and restart at midnight.

Skunk, Sorry to hear about your health problems - life is cruel sometimes. Have you read Chuck's guide to the F-18? He explains things in a straight forward way. Not as in-depth as the manual that comes with the jet but he hits the high points without prolix verbulations. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135765 Maybe it would help you figure the beast out a bit more and get some use out of it. Oddly enough, I spend most of my time in the TF-51 just sight-seeing and trying to keep my landings down below 2G.

Another retired guy here... I gave up motorcycles for just the reasons you mention - too many consequences for a slow decision. The F-18 does have a lot of clicks to get where you want. Last night I flew around for an hour just enjoying the view and was setting up to land when I noticed the velocity vector was stuck above the horizon. Flew an entire flight without moving the knob to NAV - felt like I'd left the turn signal on the whole time. That being said I find the jets simpler to fly once you get over the clickage part. An F-18 landing is a 120 knot crash onto concrete. If you want really easy flight get the Christen Eagle II or the L-39. They are both a kick in the butt and a bunch of fun. I'm looking forward to the 190 A-8 next month but it's still harder to fly than my F-18 - except for all the clicks... :smilewink: Edit - if money is tight wait until the Christmas sales but new modules are rarely on sale so it might take a while.
  11. Biography of John Boyd - father of the F-16 https://www.amazon.com/Boyd-Fighter-Pilot-Who-Changed-ebook/dp/B000FA5UEG
  12. Willie, start here for settings. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=229510 Harlikwin has since built a better system. I'm not psychic but I see a computer upgrade in your future. VR is amazing isn't it?
  13. Turn up your side lamps - rheostats on the right side of the cockpit. RUFO-45... :book: Took a while for me to find it too.
  14. You can download Windows Mixed Reality from Steam. No need for the M$ store... I'm running Win10 1803 17134.590 - WMR works fine with it.
  15. The Odyssey has a knob that adjusts IPD physically and shows the current IPD onscreen. Much better than software IPD adjustment...
