  1. Continuing to work on adding DirectInput compatibility. I'll post updates as they occur. Update: Plugin is now on DirectInput and accepts joystick/key combos as you care to define them. Working on setting up the configuration tool to make combos.
  2. Perhaps if that sort of thing were suggested in the thread for TARS it would've been taken into consideration. But I am not going to copy ACRE--there are numerous excellent reasons for not doing that, since doing so would kill immersion for multiple-channel flights. The current plan is to have an option for those people to be heard on GUARD, which is a fair tradeoff. EDIT: Mods, please move this to the TARS thread where it belongs.
  3. I should have some additional spare time over the next three weeks to hopefully add directinput capability so that the plugin won't need Joy2Key anymore if you want to use it with your joysticks. I'll know more in the next few weeks.
  4. Recently did the same. I think you made a wise decision waiting two generation cycles to do so.
  5. I recommend the Saitek as an inexpensive but quality brand. I had an x45 that I used for nearly eight years until I switched to a more advanced HOTAS. I still use their rudder pedals.
  6. Easy comms shouldn't affect anything either way. TARS hooks into the flight instruments in the sim, not your user interface. Now, there is an issue (trivial fix) in the Black Shark 2 version of TARS where the KA-50's VHF-1 radio (the R828) thinks it's on AM. I'll be releasing a new TARS this weekend that fixes that. So maybe that's where the problem is. The best way to fix a TARS problem is always to check out the logs it produces. I will always look at them for you if you need me to (time permitting of course!). Distance masking, but not terrain masking, is currently what is implemented. It assumes a perfectly spherical Earth at this point (sorry to kill your suspension of disbelief). Terrain masking will go in once I figure out the most efficient way to pull terrain data into the TARS plugin from DCS.
  7. If you are running TARS, your frequencies are visible in your info page in Teamspeak 3. The R-828 operates on a number of preset frequencies. You will be able to see what ones using that method.
  8. Thank you! But, TARS and TacView work fine together. Edit: On second thought, I probably can tell you what's going on. Certain units were removed from a file that TacView uses in the latest release, so TacView will break with 1.1.1.0 (until the next release). This will cause the execution of the entire Export.lua to fail, so it will naturally stop TARS and whatever Export mods are in there as well. If you don't want to wait, you can apply a temporary patch to your TacView here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81459.
  9. The newest TARS uses API version 14, not 8. Something is definitely wrong. Please uninstall TARS, make sure your Teamspeak 3 plugins folder is free of TARS dlls, and try reinstalling TARS again.
  10. This was on the Popular Mechanics website: Personally it sounds kind of hokey, but there is a use for it. I wonder if the gun will remain attached to the aircraft or not--my understanding is that it will absolutely have to be in order to maintain CG, unless they install equipment in the front of the plane of equal weight (good luck with that).
  11. No problem. It would be helpful if players could test A-10C and Black Shark 2 in MP to vet out any hidden issues that I haven't caught in the lab setup.
  12. I created a new version. Don't forget to update to Teamspeak 3.0.2 before you test it. Please submit bugs you find through the TARS website bug tool. Thanks!
  13. Indeed. Faux electronica produced by emaciated French teenagers has nothing on 80s metal.
  14. The process is documented in the manual that everyone has--the one that gets installed with TARS. If you have TARS you already have the instructions. The issue is with the config program not recognizing versions of TS3 it doesn't "know." Future versions will recognize unknown ones, but say they're unknown. Move the plugin (the DLL in the tars deploy folder) to the Teamspeak 3 plugins folder. Edit: Instructions are also at http://www.excessiveheadspace.com/tars/user-manual/advanced/
  15. I was going to mention that a few units had been changed in the wsUnit script file, but someone already figured that out.
  16. This is getting moved to a user-local folder.
  17. I wrote an update about the upcoming patch on the TARS site. It won't be long now--hopefully this weekend!
  18. Would people prefer a slider bar for balance, or just a set of checkboxes for each radio to come out of each earphone? I'm leaning toward the latter, although it's really just about the same amount of work to implement either way.
  19. Nice work Speed. You have really dug deep into the mission layer.
  20. They did. As you can see, BS2 has a bunch of new features and content that was made possible during the time that WH was being worked on. That is why another release was made in so short a time. Would people rather have waited another entire year for both to be finalized? Are you seriously suggesting that Mr. Humphries didn't know exactly what he was getting into?
  21. ED isn't contractually obligated to sell games to people at a fixed price. At one point, it was said that it was "hoped" that they'd be able to make the two compatible within a reasonable timeframe. That doesn't equal a contract. Things happen. That analogy doesn't make any sense. They're the ones doing the work, they are entitled to set their pricing depending on the amount of work that was done. It never ceases to amaze me the intellectual leaps people will take to justify why they feel they're entitled to something for free.
  22. Is there any clear evidence that Black Shark 2 was announced to the Russian forum in official capacity?
  23. Current TARS changes being worked on (now that Black Shark 2 is out) include compatibility with BS2 and the very latest Teamspeak 3. Adjusting channel balance based on the transmitting radio was something I was thinking about doing for awhile. It would probably work best if I made this a customizable feature. That way people could turn it off if they wanted to. What does everyone think?
  24. Seconded. A ton of work went into this, and I am surprised that ED were able to produce as much content as they did in so short a time.
