Hey, so, kind of don't know how to approach this to be honest. I have been creating skins for over 5 years now I think and in that time period I got to work with some of the most amazing livery creators for DCS, even help some to learn ( while I learned myself ) and watch them grow as artists and become the best for the specific module they are working on. for me personally I love working on the viper, I enjoy painting it, researching for months about the panels and decals and trying to make each livery as real as possible down to the last detail, either by myself or as a Collab with other amazing artists such as my good friend @Roughmaster, all of us who are passionate about creating highly realistic liveries for the viper, do it not only for growing as artists but also to make the community better, to make DCS look amazing, and always appreciate the fact we have this platform to work on. this is why this is difficult for us to understand, its a feeling of being unnoticed when clearly so many people put so much effort out of their free time to create new content. content that brings more people towards DCS (and the viper module specifically in this case), content that already exists in very high quality, so why did you chose to ignore it? most of us don't want to annoy the ED staff with requests to put their specific skin in game so we wait, for opportunities like competitions, so when we pour our heart out into a livery knowing there wont ever be an opportunity...its kind of disappointing and honestly brings the wind out of our sails. I think all of us would like ED to consider to use some of those user created liveries, and not just by one specific creator. but ultimately we will of course respect any decision you guys make, I know there are a lot of things to consider also that we as livery creators are not aware of when implementing new skins in the sim. thank you.

ok moved my base layers to the albedo folder of the new template took forever to save cause the file is huge, it changed my color space as soon as i moved my files there and now i dont know to what color space to change back, the template is in 16 bit while we were workin in 8. and than tried to save as dds and this is the result, colors are much darker and still cant seperate the roughness metallic layers in the lua. in short i'll be taking all the line art from the template but wont be workin on it not at least someone figures out how to work with it without it breaking the skins.
-
hey folks, regarding the new official template. just went through it and cant figure some stuff out, 1. how are we saving roughness and metallic maps now ? is it still separate files or are the roughness, metallic and albedo all saved to one dds file ? 2. will it affect the lua file descriptions ? 3. how many of you planning on migrating their skins to the new template ? 4. do you think that by releasing the template we can consider the model of the f16 finished ? at least for the textures ? 5. since almost half a year passed since the EA release of the f16 and so many skins were made, do you think ED will be open to implementing some skins as official ?

does anyone know of a way to relocate bort numbers to different location on the jet ? say i want to relocate them to a different place on the tail and on the side of the air intake and can we control the spacing of the numbers ?
-
thank you both for the solution! saved my skins from this mess :)

thanks ! :)

sorry to say man, but i just checked with these two skins that were already in my liveries folder and they were fine. the lua file is also correct. just to triple check i deleted the ones i had installed, downloaded the ones from the link and installed them, they were also fine. also if the lua file was'nt right it would show other stuff as wrong for the Main_01.dds file and roughmet file. it also was ok for my friends who helped me test this in the first place before i uploaded the skins. have no idea why its like that for you. did you install them in the right place ? "C:\Users\*User Name*\Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\F-16C_50" ? did you change something in the lua file ? or the texture files ? maybe its a steam vs standalone stuff or version number, open beta vs stable...have no idea. might wanna run a repair.
