  1. Welcome back Gadroc, we messaged a bit a few years ago but I have been away myself since we had a little boy (2.5 years ago). As I recall I live near you, so if your pit comes up missing, you definitely don't need to come to my house to get it back.......lol. Message me sometime if you feel like flying. I just got back into it last night, and I gotta tell you, the Huey is one unforgiving beast when you have been away for a while. I am a complete noob again. There are at least 3 guys I know local that fly DCS though. So maybe we can get in the air sometime after I finish setting up my profile for A-10
  2. Excellent! Thank you kind sir!
  3. I purchased BS1 years ago as well, then upgraded to BS2 but haven't played a sim in a couple of years. I would like to jump in the shark again but now I can not find a link to DL BS1 so I can install BS2. I double-checked my profile and both serial numbers still show up. The installer gives the BS1 must be installed and activated message. Any idea how I can get my hands on the original download so I can play? Thanks for any help!
  4. When you are driving an Embraer 170 to the hangar and wonder how many Avenger rounds and mavericks you could fit on it. (I am a mechanic so I get to drive them around the airport ;) )
  5. I agree with tommy on this, I have the X65 which is single trigger as well. Kind of a pain to find another button to substitute in for the PAC function, if that is a concern. Not impossible though. If you are not playing A10C or Black shark though, that need not be a worry, as from what I know, they are the only modules that use the dual stage. I started with the X52 non pro. Served me well for several years other than a button on the hat dying on me. That is what made me upgrade. Probably gonna sell my X65 in the next few months to get the warthog though. Not positive yet.
  6. 4K is EXTREMELY brutal on video cards. Unless you have one of the top end current gen cards, I would stay away from it for now. Unless of course you are going to upgrade video cards =) I am currently running @1920x1080 on a 52 inch tv, which I upgraded from a 27" monitor. The monitor gave an excellent image, but wasn't big enough (that's what she said, before any of you sick gits jump on that one.....lol). To sum up, you should be fine with a 27" if you are sitting close. Will definitely be easier on the eyes than your current setup.
  7. For $100ish, I would say an x52 or maybe try to find a used x55
  8. For you helo fans http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sikorsky-Sea-CH-53-Stallion-Control-Stick-Grip-Simulator-65401-02415-102P-IAF-/271139156117?pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&hash=item3f21273095&vxp=mtr
  9. No eyeroll here, I am a newbie with these devices. I really appreciate the info, looks like I will be shopping on google in the next couple of days. Although I found what appears to be a decent site for a lot of arduino/pi stuff (a few folks on one of the arduino sites use this one for parts). http://www.dx.com/ As for getting a kit vs. buying individual bits, what you said is exactly what they were indicating on the forums I was poking around in last night. I figure I will make a list of what is in a starter kit and then compile and customize from there. =)
  10. Based on what you guys have said and other stuff I have read, the bar dunno is the route I should take. Any recommendations to start as far as brand or type? Stuff I will need other than the board, maybe a breadboard? I am trying to keep it as cheap as possible for now, but don't want to have to replace a lot if parts once I get the hang of it. Thanks again =) EDIT: Ise I should give you an idea as to what I am going to build. ..lol. i am going to build a generic pit, kind of a conglomeration of several aircraft. Basically a catch all. I want to set it up with most of the switches and knobs that you would find in most military aircraft, but they will be not be arranged in accordance with a specific plane or helo.
  11. Hey all, I need to buy either a raspberry pi or an arduino for a computer class I am taking, and I figure it is a good excuse to pick up something for some I/O for the beginning of a home pit. What are the differences between the 2 for this application and which would you recommend I pick up? Thanks in advance!
  12. Hey Boarder, quick question for you. I downloaded the free version (android) and think I made an error in setup. The MFD's on my tablet show a view of what looks like the view of the area behind where I placed the MFD's on my monitors. Is there a specific place I need to set up the server mfd's? I am running 5760x1200 resolution (3 24in monitors at 1920x1200). If what I said doesn't make sense, let me know and I will post a picture. Thanks and I love the functionality so far, I just need to get it setup right. Also, what is the max number of devices that can connect? I would like to use a couple of my older android devices for other functions of the program, as I plan on buying it once I get this resolved =D
  13. On topic though, have you considered mounting the keyboard on a swing arm so you could have it in different positions based on what you are doing?
  14. I know the feeling man, I am going thru the same thing. Although I am almost finished with my associates degree and just finished A&P school. Hopefully I will find a job soon. I wish I would hear back from the folks I just sent a resume to. The job was "flight simulator technician". My wife would end up pretty upset though. God knows I would end up with a fullmotion sim in the house somewhere...LOL
  15. Hey here boarder, i was wondering what features are not availableon the android platform that are available in the ipad. And if the was an eta on the additonal functionality? Thanks for any info =)
