I bought the leapmotion 2,  installed the software from their site, the demo apps run fine.

DCS however is totally unuseable. the hands move when I move my head, the fingers are spagetti

see video. same result with openXR on or off in the ultraleap app settings.

Leap2 works like a charm for me with the F18 and latest OB.
Very precise and 95% sucsess on inter and pushbuttons.
Rotary is more tricky. I suggest a solution to DCS. Who knows...

  2. Hi evryone,

I was running DCS on a old computer with about 300H as per the logbook.
I am now running DCS on a brand new computer with about 30H as per today in the new logbook.
Is it possible to merge the new with the old logbook ?

    Thanks

The "Y" height setting slider for the position of the pilot gloves in the Ultraleap tab is excellent.

It would be incredibly useful to also have a "Z" position slider, i.e. towards and away from the pilot's head datum.   I have built a 1:1 replica F18 cockpit, and my Leap-motion hands are always about 5" inside the UFC when my real-life head position is matching the virtual head position.

    Hi,

Excellent idea!! Z position slider would be vers usefull

To fix the right hand dissapearing enable the hand use stick option, it's best to make sure that you turn off the hand when not actively using it though; if you leap hands line up with the virtual stick at the same time your physical hand moves your physical stick much hilarity (and flames and death and terra firma) can ensue 😄

    Hi edmuss,

Thanks for the tips, I didn't know that both were related...
    Will give a try...
Yes I already experienced hilary things with landing gear, hoock and even ejection 🤪

Hope the rotaries problem can be fixed sooner (or later)

    Thanks again.

  5. Hi DCS developers,

The introduction of VR is an invaluable asset for the immersion of virtual flights, but the reliance on the mouse for interaction with the avionics substantially detracts from this. DCS offers native support for Leap Motion, and once we've got the hang of it, we are able to overcome this problem when it comes to interacting with buttons and switches. However, interaction with the rotators remains extremely difficult and random.
A simple and effective solution could be quickly implemented, however, using native recognition of thumb and index finger interaction with avionics, in particular rotators, as follows:
    -Thumb right hand: counter-clockwise rotation
    -Right-hand index finger: clockwise rotation
    -Thumb left hand: clockwise rotation
    -Left index finger: anti-clockwise rotation
This perfectly intuitive behavior would effectively solve the rotator problem with LeapMotion hands at low price coding development.

    What do you think ?
And if you could fix the right hand diseapearing problem this would be awesome.

    Thanks

  6. Hi everyone,

I am wondering if it's possible to freeze momentanary the VR headset view independently that you move your head ?

I'm also wondering if it's possible to parmetrise the travel of the virtual view (like for Track IR) so that, for example, when you look 3/4 back, the view is completely behind you ?

    Thanks

  7. Hi,

Could someone teach me how to set Snapviews...
I search on the internet and the procedure should be :
    1) go cockpit (2D)

    2) move to the desired position then press the snapview you want (assuming key binding LWIN+keypad 0 for snapview 0) and then save with RALT+keypad0.
    3) redo step 2 for any other snapview

    However it doesn't work...
What am I doing wrong ?

    Thanks

The keyboard commands, for each DCS flyable aircraft, are defined on a "default.lua" file located within its program folder, for example the one for the P-51 is located here:

    C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Input\P-51D\keyboard

I tried this tip and it does work, but it is impractical to maintain since every DCS update will erase our edits.

    Hi again,

    Looks for the F18.
The only file in keyboard is default.lua where I can't find those lua instructions..

I didn't found how to do this in game, but I've found how to manipulate the LUA file to obtain a toggling view without going in toggling mode (for anyone that may have the same question one day...).

This is the LUA part where it is controlled:

    {combos = {{key = 'Num0', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView0, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 0'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num1', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView1, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 1'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num2', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView2, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 2'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num3', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView3, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 3'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num4', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView4, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 4'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num5', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView5, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 5'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num6', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView6, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 6'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num7', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView7, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 7'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num8', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView8, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 8'), category = _('View Cockpit')},
    {combos = {{key = 'Num9', reformers = {'LWin'}}}, down = iCommandViewSnapView9, up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop, name = _('Custom Snap View 9'), category = _('View Cockpit')},

removing the "up = iCommandViewSnapViewStop" part, will make the snapview to stay.

    Hi,

Which lua file are you refering to ?

    Thanks

  10. Hi DCS developpers,

Following installation of the Ultraleap drivers and software (Ultraleap_Tracking_Installer_5.12.0.exe) and the latest DCS patch, I was unable to run DCS in VR mode. I have Investigated this problem on my side and I found the problem (I think).
It sounds that there is a conflict between the Leap dll installed by DCS...

    - Uninstalled Leap tracking : DCS runs fine in VR
    - Installed Leap tracking : No VR again

Solution : put the LeapC.dll and UltraleapHandTracking.dll in the DCS bin and bin-mt directories.

Would be nice if you could fix it for the next patch.
May be the opportunity to improve Leap hand tracking and to investigate the "right hand vanishing" problem in DCS because evrything run fine and smooth in the Leap tracking application so no doubt this is a DCS problem.

    Thanks

  11. Hello everybody,

As I had no luck in the VR room I try my luck here as many people play with the lua files for modding...

DCS currently offers 2 VR zoom levels, but these are hardly suitable because they are too powerful. The possibility of adjusting these zoom levels to one's liking would enable everyone to set it to their own liking, thus facilitating pilot/cockpit interraction with virtual hands.

I would like to know if someone knows if it's possible to change the VR zoom level and how to do.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Hi DCS guys,

Nowdays more and more people use VR headset that is a big step forward for flying immersion. Even if we can assign most of the commands to the hotas, pilots must interact with cockpit buttons/rotaries for some tasks. Howerver pilot/cockpit interaction is more touchy and using mouse is a step backward for immersion.

Thus using virtual hands (like with Leap motion or whatever) is another step forward for immersion but right now it's bit touchy to be efficient.  Easier interaction with the virtual avionics is facilitated by approaching the cockpit, but we are then confronted with the real environment (screen, chair), which makes impossible to reach certain buttons.

It seems to me that the ability to zoom in would solve this problem. DCS currently offers 2 zoom levels, but these are not at all suitable because they are too powerful. The possibility of adjusting these zoom levels to one's liking would enable everyone to set it to their own liking, thus facilitating pilot/cockpit interraction with virtual hands. Although I might be wrong it seems to me that allowing VR zooming levels should not be a big deal.

Thanks for reading and many thanks for this awasome combat flight simulator.

  13. Hi everyone,

Don't know where to put this as it is not a bug but a question...

In VR mode DCS allows two predined zoom levels but is there any possibility to change these VR zoom levels at our convenience ?
May be editing a .lua file ?
Does anybody know how to do that ?

    Thanhs

  14. Hi everyone,

I am running DCS in VR mode (Reverb G2) on a brand new computer (i5 13600 KF + RTX4080 + 64G Ram) with the old  (not the ultra controler 2 version) Leapmotion. I have installed the latest Gemini version (V5.12) and copy Ultraleap\OpenXR\LeapC.dll to the DCS directories as I was having this problem :in

My problem is that although the Leapmotion seems to properly work (I can see the virtual hands both in the leap and in the DCS VR interface) I am unable to interact with any cockpit buttons. Not even speaking about side rotary... Even not possible to push any front button like those of the DDI...

I have seen some video for exemple

where it seems to work like a charm, so I suppose I am doing something wrong...
    Any help/advises are welcome.

    - Could it be a problem because of the dll ?
    - by the way should we run some leap motion in the background or DCS manage thes things by itself ?

    Thanks

  15. Hi all

    Brand new computer (I5 13600KF + Gigabyte RTX4080 + 64G RAM) running W11 pro
DCS updated with the latest open-beta version.
No problem when running DCS classically (no VR)
Reverb G2 VR headset with only "Mixed Reality Portal" (no SteamVR)
Same symptom with DCS launched either in "normal" or "multi-threading" version.

At the launch of DCS the virtual reality window opens and I see correctly the Window VR interface.
Then comes DCS where I see the hangar, and the DCS interface below the Mig29 wing on the right.

Problem: the mouse remains confined in (approximately) the bottom 1/4 of the DCS window interface and therefore impossible to launch any menu except "Exit" which luckily is in the accessible region.
I tried to check/uncheck the option "mouse snapped to the game window" but it changes absolutely nothing.
I also saw on the forums to try to switch to full screen (Alt Enter) but no effect...

    Help is welcome,

    Thanks
