If they get the gameplay right, a la DI I'm sold. A GR3 would be ideal, but any Tornado would get my money. Happy days.:thumbup:

I got a rift 6 months ago and it totally blew me away. Once you take the jump and get one, only then will you get it.

I have it all updated and while 2.1 will fly in Nevada, Normandy, everytime you try to generate a flight, simply drops back to the main screen. The map doesn't come up in advanced planning and fails to generate any mission. Seriously disappointed. I can get into it with Hawk missions. FPS 6, looks nothing like the videos we have been shown. I'll keep an open mind while I play and tweak. First impressions are not good.

I can get 2.1 working with Nevada but Normandy refuses to work. What a disappointment that is.

Has anyone got it working yet. First attempt was a crash. Just updating drivers and restarting. 2.1 has a new look.

Thanks for that mrsteel, That also led me to JGSME, still waiting for the update to finish, but I think these tools with help immensely expand the experience. I don't get to play often enough to mess around with mods, but this makes it pretty simple. Thanks.

I'm assuming thats how it works Jack. Assets pack is supposed to work in 1.5, but it is not yet available that I can see. Maybe the update and later today the servers will have Normandy and the Assets pack. Comments seem to point at a time around 10am Pacific time, maybe in an hour. Patience is a virtue today I guess.:thumbup:

Good point, logic says yes, but lets see. A good job its Friday :music_whistling: Just read the press release and updating it seems installs the map. "To install the new map, please update your DCS World 2 Open Alpha, or download from DCS site."

Go to Eagle Dynamics in the start menu, and there should be an option to update 1.5 and a separate one for 2.

Just hit update and downloading now. I'm in Netherlands 2.5 mbs.

4am on the Pacific coast, another 6 hours or so, I reckon.

While there is a huge amount of inertia in a 206 rotor system, there is not nearly enough to lift off and do a 180. Somebody has been reading too much Chickenhawk. ;)

I can auto rotate a real helicopter. I've not flown a real Huey, closest is a 207 or 109, both have huge blade inertia. You can autorotate a 206 and have time to spare for a coffee. Never managed one in DCS. Probably me being a crap pilot :O
