  1. Yeah, I wouldn't know that, as I don't speak German! It's a shame, because I'm pretty sure they used to a while ago (few months maybe a year?) I can get the DME to work, in all of them actually, but without a direction to follow is like "hot"...."hot"...."hot".....no, "cold"...."cold"...."cold"....
  2. Thank you @71st_AH Rob!!! I'll have a look into that with more detail and consider using it for myself. The only "problem" is that, I was planning to make a campaign to post in the User Files section and I think if I make it too complicated with mods having to be added, people will not like it. I don't know, I might be wrong, but unfortunately people tend to want "the easiest" way of things without complicating it too much, so my idea, was to try and keep everything as "vanilla as possible", making only the WWII Assets Pack to be necessary. (Does that german radar work as an EWR? Sorry I actually never tried as I just found out about it's existence! But then, what I'm gonna use for the Allies?) What I really wanted, was a way to introduce a .lua file, which I think is what is used by some people that make missions and campaigns, where you have that dark box on the top right of the screen, showing some kind of "BRA" but in a very "old fashion", with only things like "near" and "far"... or "low" and "high", without actually giving exactly directions and altitude of the enemies. I hope you know what I mean and if you know how this can be done, please! I'll appreciate! @Northstar98 sorry, I don't own the Channel map and I don't plan to use it or buy it anytime soon. Thanks.
  3. We're getting the Corsair soon... and now with the Marianas here.... my vote goes to: A6M5 Zero! Come on, you have to admit, it's such a nice looking and powerful plane!!! But I think if we had the Yak-3, I'd vote for it first.
  4. This has been working for a long time. Here's an example, on the BF-109K-4: AFN -2 Homing: 1) AFN-2 Frequency must be set via Mission Editor prior to flight 2) Set FuG 16ZY Power Switch (F135 ) ON . 3) Select Preset Channel II 4) Select “Y -ZF” (Zwischenfrequenz = Intermediate Frequency) Homing Mode 5) Track beacon using the indicator by centering the AFN - 2 Indicator’s vertical needle (direction of beacon) . Your distance to the beacon can be determined by watching the horizontal needle (Signal Intensity/Beacon Distance : Low = FAR, High = NEAR) (From Chuck's Guide) EDIT: My bad, I just tried all german planes, could only get the DME to work, showing distance but no direction at all... shame, because I'm sure it was working at some point in the past.
  5. Hi, I've been trying to put a campaign together, based on the Battle of Britain... although many airfields are not on Normandy Map, which is the only one I have for now, I've been reading and learning more and more about this battle. I managed to make a start, the right weather, the right date, the right amount of planes on the German and English side, etc, etc.... And then I stump upon a big problem: the radar. At the moment, I've got an E2-D flying very high ( so it "can't be seen") and set to invisible on the map... it kind of "does the job", but I was wondering if there's any .lua file that could provide some EWR, like we have in some missions I've seen around, with the black box on the top right of the screen giving direction and distance, at least!... But the real deal, and what I really would looooove to have, would be a proper radar, on the ground, either giving only direction and distance or a full EWR warning, like the AWACS gives. Is there any plans to make such a thing? Could this be done? ED? please?! Thanks.
  6. Oh well... so that's good news then!!! Thank you for your reply Silver_Dragon and thanks to Ugra Media too!!! I'm sure that many of us will be looking forward to that!
  7. Hi there, So do we have any news on Normandy map, from UGRA or ED at this point? I started using the Normandy map again the other day, after a few months without touching it and upon making a mission I noticed 2 things straight away: -Tangmere Airfield in England STILL has no radio communication. When you try to contact them, you see "Funtington" being called instead and nothing happens, no response at all. It looks like all other airfields are working correctly, from the ones I tried. -The English side still has some "holes" on the ground or massive "walls" coming out of nowhere, making the terrain look very awkward. Now, speaking of terrain, I know... I know... ED kind of fixed the map a while ago, remaking a lot of stuff, we had the speed trees introduced, places were revisited, new historical building were placed, etc, etc... I know, because I remember how the map was when it was first launched and we can see the improvements that were done after that and they do look great! Thanks ED for that!!! But.... Now that the Syria map is finished, or pretty much "launched in the right direction", will UGRA revisit Normandy and make it good, once and for all? Please don't take me wrong on what I'm about to say: I know that the name of the map is "Normandy" because it was focused on the French side, coastline and territory. Good. Then after the community requested a few airfields on the English side, a few airfields were placed on the English side, great! But to me, it looks like everything was made in a "rush" way, with not much attention given. Don't take me wrong but if you gonna make something to look better and want to improve it, then make it good enough so everybody is happy and there's not much left for people to complain about. I don't expect to see the entire English coast made exactly as it was in 1940, no!... (my FPS will be even lower than now) but AT LEAST some of the major cities and places along the coast, could've been done a little bit better!!! Places like Portsmouth, Brighton and Hove area, Dover... this places were attacked, harassed, etc... people watched many dogfights over the channel from this places, making a huge part of the history during The Battle of Britain or the D-Day landings for example and so many other occasions and periods during the second world war...the list goes on and on. Please take this as a costumer's perspective/point of view, that truly wants to see the Normandy map come to the same level as all other maps. And I truly hope that UGRA get back to Normandy and (re)make an amazing job, like they did with the Syria map!!!
  8. Thanks @Wychmaster!!! I'm gonna put all back together in the paragraph and try to make sense of everything now... Thanks @AlphaOneSix too! So as far as I can tell, if we're able to swap seats, then technically is possible to fly and employ weapons... so I guess the question now becomes, can we? Apparently you can't on the HIND, in multiplayer...but what about single player? Is it possible? And the Apache, will follow the same rules??? Too many questions, I know... Man, I can't wait for this helicopter to come out!!! Even if I can't swap seats and do everything, I think I'll still buy it anyway... haha
  9. Hi there, While trying to build a mission I found out that the airfield in England, Tangmere, has no radio like the others. Upon trying to call and request a start-up, you can see "Funtington" being called instead and no matter what I tried to do, Tangemere never replies back. All the others seem to be working fine. Thanks.
  10. @DaemonPhobos Okay..... What is CPG? ... and CMWS? ... and TEDAC? ... and TADS? and FCR? ..."hellfires" I guess is the missiles, but what RF stands for? and SAL? ... and what the heck is TADS LRFD??? Sorry those were the only things I didn't understand very well. So the conclusion is that you can't do everything on your own? But you can, if you switch to the other seat...? I'm totally confused now...
  11. So what's the conclusion about this thread? Coz I'm really interested in buying the Apache straight away, even if is missing half of the features, I don't care! lol Will be possible to fly and use all the weapons on your own? Is there really an AI called Burt that will help you? (I don't care about his name, as long as he knows what he's doing, as I probably won't! lol) Would be possible to get an idea from someone that really knows all of this? @NineLine? @BIGNEWY? Help please.
  12. Same for me, Caucasus 60fps+ Persian Gulf 50fps+ Normandy 50-55fps+ Marianas 20-35fps+ ...it only goes above 35 if I'm quite high in the sky or well away from the islands. On the other hand, it was launched today! ... I'm sure they'll improve the performance. One thing I noticed is that, although my framerate was low, my frame time wasn't. It feels like a "stable low FPS" and it's really weird, don't know if that was the case for you too? It gets noticeable when I move my head around to look, then I can see the "choppiness" happening, but if I just look straight forward, I can't actually notice that much.
  13. @Flappie Sorry, it's been a while. I've "fixed" the problem by making a full reset on my Windows 10 installation and reinstalling DCS back on the same drive, then verifying all the files afterwards. The problem has disappeared. Thanks.
  14. I have the same problem. Close DCS, then it stays green on my Library list. But this only happens if the game becomes "unstable" for some reason, like when playing in a server for a while, then GPU RAM skyrocket to more than 6Gb, then everything after that becomes "slow", when you move around menus inside DCS. Upon closing, then it stays running in the background.
  15. Hi there, The ModelViewer2 is showing me errors with clouds, Christen Eagle II and USS Nimitz??? It was ok when I was using a few months ago. I don't have any mods installed and I'm running DCS OP 2.7.1 totally "vanilla". I have verified the files already, and nothing was "missing". I also cleared NVIDIA's cache and fxo/Metashaders2 folders, tried to run ModelViewer2 again, and the same error message (log file) occurs. Log file attached below. Thanks. model_viewer2.log
