  1. It is likely a failure to understand how the trim works and bad curves. Out of all the helos the apache is definitely more temperamental and feels a lot like you are definitely trying to balance it on a knifes edge. The default controls are trash. Which was the biggest issue for me. If your curves and saturatations are not right FOR YOU then this thing flies like wet dog poo. Like for ME I turned saturation y down in axis tune, to 80. And set a curve of 10. It now feels responsive with out being squirrely and with out being sluggish again this is what feels right for me. Start a flight get it high in the air and play with the settings until you get something that feels manageable, Also when ever you start and get into the apache, hit right control and enter to bring up the control imput tracker. This module starts with the cyclic and rudders off center regardless of were they physically are(its a bug that wags mentioned in his very first video and true to eagle dynamics fashion it is still there 6 months later...) try to take off like that and outcome is predictable. Work the rudder and cyclic and it should recenter your flight controls in the sim. The other problem is the trim and its settings and poorly understanding how it works. Firstly in options the default trim settings are <profanity>. In default when you push the trim switch up it doubles your stick and rudder inputs. So if you move the cyclic for 5 degrees of bank and hit trim you are going to get 10. Which makes the apache feel like it has a mind of its own. Select the second option. This option is still not ideal but works better. This one however. When you bank or pitch or use the rudders and trim you have to immediately return the stick and rudders to zero. Otherwise you will not have control until you do. Also you lose the same amount of authority in the opposite direction of your trim. If you bank left 40degrees and trim you have lost 40 degrees of travel back to the left. So what you have to do is roll right 20 degrees trim center then then roll right another 20 to get back to center again. Or you end up in a situation where you have rolled and are trying to straighten up and you are hard over right but the apache is still going left. Which is confusing and if you don't realize what's going on it feels like this is very hard to fly and like the apache is fighting you ....which it is. I got the apache on pre-order I have not touched it until j7st two days ago...until I got it sorted out I was regretting my purchase once got it sorted and it clicked. This might be on of the more enjoyable modules to fly.
  2. Are you trying to drop GPS guided bombs or Laser guided ? If you are dropping a GPS guided bomb you have to enter in the target coordinates on the CDU. The GPS guided bombs do not track lasers to the target. Only the GBU 12 is laser guided, The GBU 31 and 38 are GPS guided bombs. at least that is the only thing I can think you are doing wrong? if you are dropping laser guided bombs make sure your laser codes match.
  3. I know I sat there a moment feeling like I should have unlocked an achievement or something lol. I have landed some banged up planes before but she was barely aerodynamically a plane by the time I touched down.
  4. So last night I was flying the mission in Enemy within. The one were you attack the ship...then get into a dog fight L-39s. So I sunk the ship killed the terrorist leader, then get told by Overlord there are bandits inbound. So I put the hawg into air to air mode and started swiveling my head around running threw my head my plan on how I am even going to ACM in this thing ( I have never been in a dog fight in the A-10)....well, I didn't get the chance. right as I looked over my left shoulder I saw a contrail. Then BANG! the plane instantly rolled over onto its back and into a dive. I stood on the right rudder out of instinct which stopped the roll right side up. I only had a moment to notice literally everything was out and I mean everything. I looked over my shoulder again and saw another contrail. I let off the rudder let the Hawg roll onto its back and fall into a steep dive. After a few seconds I was sure I evaded that missile. I stood on the rudder got it out of the dive and kind of expected the mission was over. To my suprize I was still flying but I thought I was about to get killed anyway. there is no way I could fight in this wreck... the one L-39 flew right over me no HUD but I hear my sidewinder buzz with a good tone. so I fired. The missile came off the rail and SLASH. I looked around to see the other L-39 trying to get into a good fire position....when my wing man hits him with his own sidewinder! ..... I some how just won this fight with a severely crippled plane. I looked around and realized I had no navigation no speed or ALT indicators HUD was out even my compass by the HUD was cocked sideways. I had to turn off the HCMS because the pitch ladder was spinning and disorientating me. II looked out, half the left wing was gone and the left engine was peppered with shrapnel damage. the right wing was missing the tip of the wing and the pitot tube, had a giant hole in the wing. It was still flying but if I throttled back at all I got the stall warning and the landing gear handle would flash. I had thought about just punching out and reflying the mission. I looked out and saw the coast....wwaaaaaay over there and thought "hmmm I wonder if I can make it back to kobuleti ". So I limped back. not knowing how high or fast or even what direction I was pointing. I had to visually fly it. I made 5 descending left hand turns to get lined up on the run way and where I felt low enough, I was flying sideways because the rudder was at full right deflection hence the left hand turns and when I dropped the gear I got no lights one way or the other indicating the gear was up or down....no AOA.... I could have F2 to look...but where the fun in that ?!! so I came in fast, I could feel it as I passed over the threshold. touched down and the plane cocked over on its side...only one belly gear deployed...or didn't collapse I didn't know which, sliding along the runway I kept expecting to explode any moment as I went off and into the grass. When I came to a stop. I looked around and thought to my self " WOW....now this is why I play DCS !!!" Like holyshit. I don't know how realistic it was. I know the A10 can take a pounding but I have never taken a missile in any of the other modules and not immediately get introduced to the re fly screen. This is why I can no longer play Ace combat anymore. and why for all my gripes about DCS I keep coming back!
  5. Not saying you are not having problems but I have put nearly 100 hours now into the Tank killer. I haven't had any of those problems. Actually the Module its self has been remarkably bug free. Personally I always found the Mavrick H to be really finicky even in the old A10c. I'v always prefered the D variant for that reason The TGP has a limited number of "rolls" it can make from what I understand. I take that to mean whenever it is ground stabilized to a target and you preform preform a maneuver it can be as simple as the TGP getting masked in a general orbit uses up those rolls eventually locking the sensor in a gimble roll. After 3-4 attack runs. I will quickly put the TGP into standby and back into A-A to reset the gimbals and then re slave it to avoid that error. I don't know how accurate that is but it does keep the frustration of rolling on for another attack and getting "gimble roll" at bay.
  6. As the title says. I am looking for the approach plates for all the air fields in dcs that I can look at while in flight. the knee board charts are just to small for me to read.
  7. The hawg the tomcat and the F5 tiger just make you feel like a legit combat aviator.
  8. I do acknowlege and if I look at message it gives me the 9 line on the MFD. So I am pretty sure I am getting the data. This is only a minor gripe as 7 times out of 10 I still hit the target JTAC wants but ever so often I accidental hit the tank beside the target tank, so I have to re attack which sucks when that last attack leaves you Winchester.
  9. This has been bugging me for a while. But the A-10c when JTAC would "standby data" it would put a red marker on the TAD. I noticed when I first started flying the A-10 II it would also but the marker in the helmet. I noticed it only does this in like mission " Sunset sierra" basically when the Jet is already started so I am assuming I am missing something in the start up or data link or something when I cold start. I get the 9-line as a message...but the HMCS is making me lazy lol.
  10. Are you making sure INS is aligned before taking off? If I remember correctly GPS guided bombs get thier targeting data from the INS in the A-10 if you move before it is done or do a fast alignment it may not be accurate. Also make sure you are dropping from a height that gives the JDAM time to find the target. I find Angels 10 and up works but I shoot for 15 at least and if that fails get the coordinates with the TGP and create a custom mission way point for the drop.
  11. My pc can handle 2. I just ran it at 1.5 to save some frames. I was just worried I was going to have to turn clouds off... I have grown to like the new weather system.
  12. I hadn't had a problem with ssaa before the update today.
  13. .... so dcs updates today. And I find my self in this new hell. What you are seeing is I'm guessing a bug introduced today where if I turn clouds on at all I get this bizarre effect....the picture doesn't do it just as to how irritating it is also can't see the ground once I'm in the air soooooo. Yeah.
  14. WHEW!. for some reason the backup wasn't restoring my settings and campaigns . But I backed up the whole folder when I tried buzzlines fix for the end mission button problem. For some reason. The config and log book from that back up worked.
  15. no. I don't install mods into DCS this thing is already creaky enough....never mind though now all my campange progress has been reset and repasting my input config hasn't restored my controls...... I celebrated a little to early.
