  1. why am I not getting any replies --- am I on the wrong forum ??

Can`t seem to get much help with the joystick problem for Birds of Prey on the xbox 360 -------- amazing graphics but without a joystick it is virtually useless to me Then I bought on-line a copy of Heroes Over Europe -- has not arrived yet -- on one site it says that it immerses you in well rendered cockpits blah blah --- but i have looked at quite a lot of youtube video`s and screenshots and all of the footage and photo`s are taken outside the aircraft -- so --- do we get into the cockpit or not because if the answer is no I will ship this one back because I bought on what was said on the website about cockpits !!! Anyone got any ideas about the two issues please ? I personally can`t believe how a flightsim can hit the market without a joystick !! ( Birds of Prey ) -- I suppose Heroes Over Eruope supports joysticks regards Paul Woods

  4. in the x box version there is nothing in the set up in the game for setting up and cofiguration of a joystick so I think that I have wasted my money on the saitek joystick and I doubt whether I`ll be playing this game without a joystick no matter how good the graphics are etc I will probably just wait for Storm Of War Battle of Britain for the PC !!! Meanwhile I`ll just watch my sons play Birds Of Prey because for me being a rw pilot it just isn`t worth playing without a joystick Very frustrating !!! Regards Paul Woods
  5. How is it possible to configure the saitek joystick if indeed it is possible at all ??

I have bought the Saitek joystick which is compatible with Xbox 360 ... but there is nothing in the settings menu in the game to set the joystick and so it is impossible to turn left or right ( or port/starboard !! ) or to descend or to climb ----- this to me is like taking a 50 year step backwards ---- flight sims are meant to work with jostick or yolk etc etc I think that the game is utterly fantastic but I find it very very difficult to fly using the Xbox cntroller
  7. it`s loaded onto the laptop and is playable have worked out ( thanks to you guys ) how to use full screen tried using a joystick and am still in the process of working out how to configure ---- probelm being that because the laptop is new it`s using Vista !!! and I have never used vista before so I am on an additional learning curve !!! I really want to burn it onto a DVD and then load onto my PC which is XP and I can find my way around XP but I tried the burn process and found that the 4.7 GB DVD`s are not big enough so off I went to PC World and bought some 8.5 GB DVD`s --- thought I had cracked it when it finished after telling me 15 hours then 4 hours then 2 hours all within minutes -- anyway when it was finally finished after about 45 minutes in total I put the DVD into the PC and it was showing as empty --- 0 !!!! so --- back to the drawing board I`ll crack it eventually !!! I will probably take the laptop to a friendly PC shop around the corner and ask his advice tomorrow --- will keep this site posted i am a tad disppointed because I was expecting to see scenery like the FSX Horizon Generation X photographic style scenery ( unless I`m missing soemthing )--- I know what you`ll all say ---- how can u expect this when what we have here is a replication of a 100000 trillion bilion dollar sophisticated fighting machine --- well if that`s what it`s all about I am sure it will be fine and I`ll just spend my time blasting away --- although what I am really really looking forward to is Oleg Maddox`s Battle Of Britain - Storm Of War

OK I went out and bought a new laptop it`s an Acer with 9300 Nvidia Ge Force card , 3 gig ram , dual core etc etc it`s ok but not the best --- I needed it for work related stuff and thought I`d try and download and run Blackhawk well it worked which means my PC is possibly suspect but it downloads and runs everything else !!! anyway ---- it`s up and running on the laptop HOW DO I GET IT TO RUN FULL SCREEN -- it`s running in a small box on the screen currently I would like to burn it onto a CD or DVD so that I can load it onto my PC where it will be visually much better ----- what disc should I laod it onto and excatly how do I do that please ? if someone can talk me through that process step by step ( REMEMBER I`m a bit thick when it comes to computers ) also --- my thanks to everyone so far for responding to me I did try looking in the online manual to see how to go full screen but couldn`t find anything obvious !! regards Paul Woods

  11. have been absent from the internet for some two weeks now I asked aol to transfer my account to a different phone line in the same house with the same area code when I rang to ask if I could re-connect on the day they had nominated after cutting me off for 3 days I was told " yes Mr Woods , we have a connection now with 01243 ---- " INCORRECT AREA CODE MY AREA CODE IS 01253 and so I had to wait another 13 days !!!!!!!!! and just got reconnected yesterday and so ----- I will resume my attempt to get Blackshark working ---- but --- it`s only maybe 2 or 3 weeks before Tom Clancy`s Hawk is released and so Blackshark may take a back seat incidentally --- why have ED not responded to my e mails asking for a CD when it is released ( and I said I would pay the difference ) they have not actually responded to any of my e mails which were sent directly to themselves
  12. Downloaded again using download manager ----- tried to install and this time when it aborted it was with error 13 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! it`s 3 am and I have waited all night for THIS !!!!!!! what the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. so --- where am I going wrong --- I am trying the download yet again set up id being saved into C:Downloads\Software\setup(1)exe data1.cab is being saved intoC:Downloads\Software\data1.cab I started by ndownloading datacab first then setup both are now downloading and I have ticked launch setup download when completed ????? will report back on whether this works or not regards Paul Woods

Mate, 1. as ZaltysZ said, someone from ED already responded to your problem (see Ulrich above, he is head of the testers team) why have they not responded to my faxes --- I have published in these forums what the problem is and so far it has not been resolved --- all I want form them is a cd copy which I have asked them for and I will pay the difference in price between the download and the cd and they have not replied on this yet 2. To be honest your rant is a bit inconsequent: you want help from ED, but in order to help you people need to get more information from you, so its actually you who needs to get active. Ulrich asked you two simple questions which you didn't bother to answer yet, and which by no means require a PhD in computer science, only basic computer skills. How can you describe my complaint as a rant and how can you say it is inconsequential ---- I HAVE PAID FOR SOMETHING WHICH I HAVE NOT YET RECDEIVED --- I AM A CUSTOMER AND I AM NOT SATISFIED AND I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO VOICE MY COMPLAINT ----- all I want now is the cd version when it is released --- have already lost all of the weeks since downloading and I am now prepared to wait until the CD is available __________________ ~Saturnkind~
  16. You seem to like the idea "customer is always right" and try to put pressure with "I gave up" and "I want my money back". Somehow I think it won't make good results. Most people, which are trying to help you, are not working for ED, they are just community members and are offering help because of ... (I don't know really why, maybe because of kindness). If you have problem, we will try to resolve it, but you will need to cooperate. Be kind and you will be rewarded. :devil: sorry but you have got this totally toally wrong I am not criticising forum members and I am grateful for their help I am putting the pressure on the Blackshark company ---- they are the ones who have not even bothered to reply to my e mails I am definitely going to give up with the download now --- tried downloading yet again and it stopped downloading near the end !!!!!! thats a new one !!!! can`t waste any more time ----- will probably have to write off the money I paid for the download --- but it will cost them in negative publicity --- if they had even sent me one e mail saying that they will look into this I would be happy ---- however i am now extremely angry -- I will start by contacting Barclaycard and I shall explain the situation to them and hopefully they will refund me and then retrieve the money from the company You have stated that you are not good with computers. Well, this fact is important and makes helping you more difficult. Root directory in Windows is the top most directory of disk (i.e. "C:\", "D:\" and etc.); To get the path of file (the directory where it resides) press right mouse button on file and choose properties. The path will be shown after label "Location". thanks for that --- but again ---- why should I now have to take a PHD in computers just to make a game work !!!!!   17. I told the tech support over at Blackshark by e mail yesterday that i have given up on the download and I want a CD copy ( when available )which i don`t mind paying more for otherwise I want my money back NO REPLY !!!!!!!
  18. Code 2 means Data1.cab file is not found and nothing more. Did you download files under the same account you run setup with? What is the path of the folder where both files are located? Could you try to move them to the root directory and run setup from there? __________________ Thanks for that when I had paid I just downloaded both sets of files ie the set up and the Data1.cab as suggested I dragged and dropped each of these into a new folder and tried to run the set up from the bew folder same problem as before questions how do I find the path of the folder where both files are located how do I move them to the root directory why am I not receiving any support whatsoever from the Blackshark company they have not bothered to answer any of my e mails i have a private pilots license / twin rating / night rating / IMC rating and was flying cessnas 152 , 172 , the Rallye 150 , Piper Warrior `s and up to the Archer , Beech Duchess Twin , and the Twin Aztec total time logged approx 800 hours ----- have stopped RW flying until the kids are more grown up and they are not intent on gobbling up all of my spare cash and so FSX with VATSIM keeps me going ( when I have the time !!! ) so I am not exactly thick ---- but when it comes to computers ( I am totally thick in this area ) all I want to do is to use the web , word , excell , skype and all of the other user friendly applications I just don`t have the time to fiddle around manipulating root directories , folders and files etc etc etc every other download I have had ( flight sim connected ones ) just download and run automatically --- I have never had this kind of problem before I think that all Blackshark have don here is to try to make some quick money by releasing as a download to catch the xmas market --- and then what do they do ---- they go on a long holiday without leaving any backup to give technical support I have to salute and congratulate them for the excellent job they have done by building and creating Blackshark and I am sure that if I can get it up and running I will be totally immersed in the learning curve ---- BUT WHAT IS THE POINT IN RELEASING A PRODUCT WHICH SENDS EVERYONE INTO THE FORUMS TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE PRODUCT BASICALLY JUST RUNNING ---- surely we should not HAVE to use the forums just to find out how to make the thing work --- forums are more important when it comes down to sharing the detail of the simulator/game

No I did not try to extract the files manually here is the process purchased Blackshark on my credit card got confirmation downloaded the set up and the Data1.cab file tried to install by using the set up icon started the install process and stopped ( in the same place each time that I tried ) this is when I got the message install aborted - set up was not completed successfully -- then when I looked at the details it said Extract failed with error code 2 ---- so it wasn`t me manually trying to extract anything -- it was the install process then I did a search and found the set up and Data1 files ---- I then dragged them onto the desktop --- then I opened a new folder calling it Blackshark --- then I dragged and dropped the two files into the new folder -- then I tried installing from the set up icon in this new folder and I got exactly the same results ????? sorry guys ------ I think I will definitely give up on the downloaded version and I will just have to wait until the CD version is out and hopefully either get back my money or get them to send me a CD version instead --- although as I have said I would rather buy from RC Simulations because they give excellent technical support for any product which they sell !!! thanks for your post Acedy from a very very frustrated Paul Woods
  20. Well at least I haven't found any information about your problem, except that you weren't able to install and something about an error code 2 ?! Neither what you tried to install (I guess Black Shark anyway), nor what operating system you are using, nor what hardware your computer is running on was beeing told. I assumed that you knew that it was Blackshark because of where it was posted you didn`t ask what operating system -- XP or about hardware --- dual core etc etc 8800 ultra nvidia graphics card 4 gig ram and tons and tons of hard drive I don't even know who RC Simulations is. RC Simulations --- were the biggest flightsim stockist for a very long time and they were the organisers of the earlier big flightsim events which took place in Birmingham when Microsoft used to attend and deliver speeches and presentations about the next incarnation of flightsim etc etc They were there before anyone else and they are still a fantastic company --- they do a lot of work now with the Royal Air Force --- Bob Sidwick the owner is like myself a Private Pilot You PM'd me with no information at all, just complaining that you were not ble to yourself. not ble yourself ????? I am sorry ---- I just thought that you were an expert and that you might unsderstand the code 2 error But my PM box is not for messages where people are complaining about themselves. sorry to have invaded your privacy !! I don`t understand what you mean about where people are complaining about themselves --- i am not complaining about myself --- my complaint is that I have bought a download for Blackshark ---- I have downloaded both sets of files and it will not install because of the code 2 error message --- how on earth can that be a complaint about myself And the last thing I mentioned is that you were trying to extract something. What it is, noone will find out, I guess. the thread is entitled " Blackshark will not install " ---- is it not obvious that I am trying to extract the files during the install process But hey, thanks for visiting us here in the forum :D good forum --- glad I joined --- will visit as aften as I can BUT Blackshark has got me defeated and I definitely want my money back from them and as I say --- I will buy the CD from RC Simulations __________________

I`ve had enough of this I pm`d someone who advised me to put the two files into one folder and it should install ---- just tried it ---- no luck ---- not his fault though I have now decided to ask for my money back and to definitely buy the CD from RC Simulations when it is available -- the advantage of the CD is that the full manual comes with it and I will get proper tech support from RC Simulations

Here are the most common Installer Error Codes which can occur: Code 2 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND Most probably the installer files are not in the same directory or you downloaded just one of them. Code 3 - ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND This error code might be triggered by a long install path or/and national symbols in the install path. Code 13 - ERROR_INVALID_DATA (CAB broken) You need to re-download the file(s). _________________
