  1. This problem was fixed for me now. Today I launched the game again after yesterdays failed completing process, and it asked to do the update. Then it verified the files and shut down properly. As I had downloaded the update as of yesterday no torrents had to start. The game now display the latest verion. Possibly a way around the problem. Regards/ Porphyr
  2. Hi, I have the same problem. Started update for DCS 2.5.2.19682 Update 7, but the process never complete. If I shut down the updater after a while it seems all was downloaded, but the game display version DCS 2.5.2.19273. Also tried to clean up, repair and then update again from command prompt. Same result. Is there a way to get the update that doesn't use torrent, as this seems to be the problem? Hopefully it can be fixed or someone know a workaround for now. 00462.425 ERROR: Can't cleanup D:\Games\DCS World\_downloads\.torrents: Can't remove directory D:\Games\DCS World\_downloads\.torrents: (145) The directory is not empty. 00462.427 STATUS: Downloading update... 00462.428 INFO : Using HTTP/2 Regards/ Porphyr autoupdate_log.txt
  3. No need to use deactivation or activation if you already have BS on one OS and want to dual boot with Win 7. I got this tip from Wombat. "You may be able to do it without using any activation or deactivation (e.g. totally free). Try using regedit in your XP install to export the key HKCU\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Black Shark to a .reg file. Then, load that file in Windows 7 before you run Black Shark. There is a reasonable chance that it will work. I have not tried with Windows 7, but I have done this between Vista 32 and XP 32, and it works fine. Also, as a suggestion, to increase the chances that that Starforce will not see this as a "new" PC and require reactivation, I suggest making your machine name is the same in both XP and Windows 7." I tried it and it works just fine. Make a reg file and put somewhere where you can access it after booting into win 7. Name the computer the same as in your XP/Vista OS when you install Win 7. Then Install BS as adminstrator, then run the reg key. Start BS and voila, no SF activation. You can still run BS on both the old and the new OS. For me BS runs really good with windows 7
  4. I'm in Sweden and can't see it on youtube either There is a sort of solution to this stupidity. Go through http://www.ctunnel.com/ which will make you a bit more anonymous... Enter http://www.YouTube.com and hit "begin browsing" When at the youtube site, search for Fun with trains 2. Works for me. I can't see it in high quality though... cheers Porphy
  5. I would do that dor sure. BS runs just fine. I haven't really done any proper benchmarking, but the general impression is 10-20 fps gain, faster loadtimes and smoother much playing compared to XP. Win 7 beta is working well over all, just a few small problems encountered, but not more than running the old Xp install. Most things that work with Vista also works with Win 7. Anyway, if you do a dual boot you always have the old OS to do some stuff that might not work yet with the win 7 beta. It's litterary a Win Win situation... :music_whistling:
  6. Yes, the stylish desktop theme in Vista and Windows 7 is called Aero. In windows beta 7, go to control panel> system> advanced system settings > performance settings. Here you can control all the visual things for the desktop. Turn on "adjust for best performance" and then try and see if BS menu diplays correctly. If not, it's probably a graphics driver problem. Try another... cheers Porphyr
  7. Ok, maybe another graphics driver can do the trick? I have a Nvidia 8800GTS running with the beta driver 185.20. Also try do disable the Aero desktop and see if that helps. When I had that problem you describe, Windows 7 notified me that the program wasn't working properly with the Aero desktop. (but now I have no such problems). Hope you figure it out.
  8. I had that problem on my first try, but I didn't install the sim the right way I think. Be sure to run the install exe as administrator + always run the BS exe as administrator as well. After doing this I had no problems with Black Shark under Win 7.
  9. Hi again The affinity script from Jesse worked just fine. BS is now flying compared to the xp install!
  10. Thanks Wombat! The reg thing and computer name change worked perfectly. You just saved me one activation. :) Now I just have to find out why the taskmanager doesn't allow me to change or even check affinity when running BS under Windows 7. cheers Porphyr
  11. Hi I'm running a dual boot setup with XP pro 64bit and Windows 7 Beta 64bit. Black Shark is installed and activated on the XP part. Can I install under Windows 7 as well and use up one activation, and then be able to run the sim from whichever OS I boot from? Or must the XP install be deactivated? cheers Porphy
  12. Nice benchmark TX-EcoDragon. I really want BS to run properly with Windows 7 beta now! Did you use the 64 bit version of windows 7? What is the proper way to install the sim in windows 7? (Did you encounter any of the problems i had?) EDIT: All is fine now, running like a clock with BS and Windows7 cheers Porphyr
  13. Hi I tried Black Shark under Windows 7 Beta 64 bit. I encountered two problems. 1. The launcher menu wouldn't display properly with the Aero desktop running. Disable Aero and it was fine. 2. Second problem was that the program didn't want to store changes done in options. When clicking ok nothing happened and the sim launched only with default settings. I didn't manage to solve that one, but it might be because I'm not used to Vista and the installing game regiments before (running xp pro 64bit). I still think I installed it alright with administrator status, turned Uac down to minimum and even edited the right for BS exe. Still no go. Seemed like something stopped the program to write to the correct config or lua files, although no error reports showed. Anyone have an idea what to do or try? Performance seemed solid, although I could only run it in windowed mode. Loading times were much faster! Fps very stable with the core affinity trick. cheers porphyr
