  1. I'm wondering if Heatblur is waiting till they get the F-4 Phantom out because the F-14 early would have some very similar weapon loadouts with earlier AIM-9B through J and earlier AIM-7A through M/P.
  2. I know it's a F-4C/D but I would love to see a Michigan ANG version to I can complete my collection of of ANG aircraft from Selfridge and Kellogg Field. I've got the F-16, A-10, F-86, I think I'm only missing a P-51. I'm really like the F-4C 63-7589 because it's credited with a MiG-21 kill in January of 1967 and was "Olds 02" which I believe was Robin Olds wing man.
  3. Here is the link to the download New Zealand "RNZAF" logbook
  4. Well I may have created a RNZAF log book with squadrons and proper rank. I looked up some of the RNZAF medals I hope I got them right. You should also download Logbook Improvements and USN/USMC for DCS World 2.7.10 and later first and then just copy the files I've created into your DCS World OpenBeta folder. I have fixed the New Zealand flag in the newest version as well. I know there are some RNZAF skins out there for the A-10, the A-4, the F-16 (which the disbandment of the RNZAF air combat force in 2001 canceled the deal with General Dynamics and the RNZAF), the C-130 (i believe), the P-51 and the UH-1H. I'm sure there are going to be a few skins of the F-4U Corsair when that comes out as well. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I did the following squadrons: 75 SQN RNZAF (this is the squadron I would recommend for an A-4 pilot) Navigation and Air Electronics Training Squadron RNZAF 41 SQN RNZAF 3 SQN RNZAF 5 SQN RNZAF 6 SQN RNZAF 14 SQN RNZAF 40 SQN RNZAF 41 SQN RNZAF 42 SQN RNZAF Central Flying School RNZAF 25 SQN RNZAF 2 SQN RNZAF 1 SQN RNZAF RNZAF Boy Entrant School Here's what I did for the Medals: New Zealand Distinguished Service Decoration New Zealand Bravery Medal New Zealand Gallantry Medal New Zealand Cross Victoria Cross for New Zealand

  6. I would message Home Fries directly he has done all the work when it comes to modifying the logbook I'm using his USN add-on right now and it's been great. Are you looking for current RNZAF Squadrons or historical because I do have to say they don't have any current fighter squadrons.
  7. Hello all, With the amount of F-4s built and the amount of countries that used an still use it original parts are readily available to modify for a simpit. I think out of all the aircraft in DCS minus some of the older Migs the F-4 would be the easiest to build. I was on eBay and found original F-4 ejection seats for "only" $10K lol and have found complete instrument panels for cheap, depending on when and where you look. Heck if you are so inclined you could probably still get a whole F-4 nose section for scrap value. What does everyone think I've seen a ton of F/A-18 and F-16 simpits, not many F-14 the parts are too hard and expensive to get with the Iranian embargo, but I think the F-4 would be awesome to build, plus if you really wanted to you could build the second seat and have a buddy fly Wizzo.
  8. I believe NAVAIR 01-f14AAA-1A is still classified because of chapters 31 to 36 and for sure chapter 39 of the manual. I believe the navy still uses some of those subsystems.
  9. I was wondering if you had looked at the Brunner CLS-E Force Feedback Joystick. I have the MS Sidewinder FFB 2 and I love it, but if I had the cash I have seriously been looking at the Brunner to run the ViIRPIL VFX "Tomcat" stick. I don't know if anyone has used the CLS-E FFB with DCS World or the Tomcat, but it looks to be a good way to go to get FFB with all the modern comforts of having switchable grips. https://www.brunner-innovation.swiss/product/cls-e-joystick/
  10. I'm with Macka, I would love to beta test your mouse solution. It would be so much better then having controller floating about in the VR cockpit.
  11. Update: Well I did it, I bought an Oculus Rift S last week and I love it. The only problems I have had was with the Asmedia USB 3.0 controller, I should have done a bit more research on it and my wife wanting to play Beat Saber all the time. For the USB 3.0 problem I ended up just buying an Inateck 4 port USB 3.0 PCIe card that was recommended on the Rift forums. I'm still playing with the setting and if anyone has any recommendations to maximize graphic and performance I would love the help. I have not noticed any motion sickness, but my eyes do get tired after a hour or so. So far flying the F-14 Tomcat has been amazing and with Voice Attack and VR it's as real as I will ever get to flying the Tomcat. It makes me want to build a standalone cockpit for the Tomcat so I don't have to use the controllers to use my hands in VR. I also picked up a Leap Motion setup off of eBay today so I am going to start playing with that as well. Maybe I can ditch the controllers and make life a bit easier in game. Specs of my computer as of August 2019: CPU: Xeon E5-1680 V2 8 core running at 4.4GHz (still running water 68 degrees under load now) Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition Memory: 64GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro DD3 2400Mhz GPU: EVGA 1080 Ti Black mild overclocks Storage: Crucial SSD for both boot drive and DCS drive OS: Windows 10
  12. Yeah think off all those Tomcats chopped up at the boneyard and there equipment destroyed just to prevent the Iranians from having spare parts for an aircraft so out dated and heavily modified by the Russians there is no point. I can understand destroying and or removing classified material on the aircraft or anything that would help update their Tomcats, but how many of them are really airworthy. I think the last report was maybe 40 of them or so.
  13. It doesn't look like anyone bought it, it didn't have any bids. $2,500 is a bit high for a starting bid. It's like $500 to $1,000 cool not $2,500. lol Maybe the seller will relist it or the FBI got in touch with them and they took it down. I don't know the legality with the Iran embargo even if it said it was inert and wouldn't be shipped outside the US of A.
  14. I was wondering if anyone was going to pick this ACM panel up off eBay. I saw it the other day if nothing else it is great reference material. If I had the money and had started my cockpit I would have bought it. ACM Panel
  15. I just wanted to add a plus 1 for this. It would be really nice. Thanks guys over at Heatblur you are the best!
  16. Thanks VampireNZ, Larkis, and HokieRob for the feed back it sounds like it is going to make the F-14 even more amazing! I think I am going to get the Rift S when it comes out. My other question is does anyone have any experience with the Leap Motion hand and finger tracker in DCS? Does it work in DCS? It is some really cool tech that I have been following for years, but don't have any first hand experience. For those who don't know the Leap Motion tracks both your hands and all your fingers in 3 dimensional space so you can flip switches and such. Leap Motion
  17. So I've been looking into VR for the immersion factor or getting new monitors in general and then the Oculus Rift S was announced with better screen resolution and not needing lighthouse for room scaling for $400ish and I kind of want it. My questions are what is it like playing DCS World with the F-14 in VR? Is it worth it? Does the air frame look even more amazing in VR vs the 2D that I am using now? What VR head set are you all playing with? Is it better to get the HTC Vibe, Pimax 5K or 8K, Oculus Rift S, or wait? Does anyone play with the Leap Motion hand controller to flip the switches and so on? My computer spec are: Xeon E5-1680 V2 overclocked to 4.2 Ghz at 58 degrees on water Asus Rampage IV Black Edition with 64 GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 at 2400Mhz Crucial SSD for my boot drive and DCS World Drive EVGA 1080 Ti Black with mild overclock Dual Monitors right now both at 1080p 60Hz (so VR can't be any worse then what I'm using now) I am running Windows 7 (Viva the Resistance), but would upgrade in the near future to Windows 10 Pro for VR and the fact that Windows 7 is at end of support from Microsoft in 2020.
  18. I've seen a few of those and it is on the list of things to build/buy for flight simming. My end goal would be to build a 1 to 1 F-14 cockpit with RIO seat. I've been doing a ton or research on it I've watch a few guys build A-10 cockpits and F/A-18 cockpits. The guys over at hornetpits.org have some great resources. My problem is I don't want to cut up my working MSFF2 just yet. I have been looking on ebay and thinking about maybe getting a MSFF1 and take that one apart or a 2nd MSFF2, but they are getting rarer. A buddy of mine had a MSFF1 growing up (late 90's early 2000's) and that think was just as much a beast as the MSFF2 but I don't think it has the in grip IR to detect if your hand is on the grip or not and I know it didn't have a hat switch. I saw the 3D printed Tomcat grip and it's a great start, I've been looking into seeing if I can't get with a museum I know of that has a Tomcat and see if we can't get a good 3D scan of it along with measurement to see if we can't make a really accurate one. I have also seen a few resin ones for sale but they are usually a couple hundred bucks.
  19. I really love my Force Feedback 2, but I wish they came out with a new "force feedback" joystick. I also really want a Tomcat grip, it was such a specialized grip with the weapon selector and the push down for the Phoenix missile.
  20. I am using a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, it is a second run joystick without the red buttons.
  21. Thank you guys over at Heatblur for putting "Force Feedback" in for the F-14 it makes a huge difference. My joystick is no longer a lip noodle while flying and I can really feel the limits of the Tomcat. On a side note Jester is a wimp, he bailed out on my after we got shot up a bit. I lost my radar, radios, HUD, some hydraulic systems fail and the Tomcat shuttered a bit back to base, but I made it back to base without my RIO who bailed out in enemy territory. I felt a little bad about leaving him, but I'm sure a helo came and got him, right?
  22. Awesome guys, I can't wait to get this bird in the air and some hours under my belt. My wife is also sick about hear about Tomcat specs and so on. lol Congratulations for the time and effort you guys put in to what I'm sure will be an amazing aircraft, unlike anything we have seen in DCS before. Thanks for making a dream come true!
