  1. Also there is a 5870 2gb version coming shortly. Not necessarily for the eyefinity aspects of it, but the extra ram might help(other games). Here's a review ref. the six display setup. http://hardocp.com/article/2010/03/24/ati_radeon_5870_2gb_3x2_eyefinity_gaming_experience
  2. You should probably give this a go too. http://hardocp.com/article/2010/03/26/nvidia_fermi_gtx_470_480_sli_review
  3. Maybe they should open up the bandwidth in accordance with post count. :)
  4. In a previous life I used an Australian fold. Here's a link. www.cavhooah.com/Downloads/australian%20fold.doc
  5. Well my experience is that going from an AMD 720 three core at 3.8 ghz to a AMD 965 four core at 3.8 Ghz made a difference in BS. Albeit small, but made a difference. Doesn't really matter(to me)why it made the difference it just did.
  6. All I asked was to provide one piece of proof about PoleCat's statement, that's all. If it's so easy why don't you do it for me and humor me? The time it takes you to respond back you could of easily discovered something in some search engine. You know your MO is textbook democrat, don't argue about the facts just attempt to berate and insult the opposition. You probably voted for POTUS Obama too. How's that change working for you?
  7. Wow now I'm an idiot because I have a different opinion than you? The fact remains is PoleCat made an empirical statement that was total bullshit that someone needed to call him on it. I'm not in the tank for FoxNews but a person has to be able to back up such a statement with facts. Which I remind you that you nor him has done. Although the "admit nothing, deny everything & make counter accusations" works well for you. Now if you would like to apologize for calling me an idiot I'll except your apology, but only for a limited time.
  8. Wow PoleCat has a defender stateside. How cute.
  9. Save the scolding for someone else please. I asked PoleCat a question and he hasn't responded.
  10. Hmmm That's what I thought. :chair:
  11. What has FoxNews lied about recently?
  12. I run crossfire fine. Right click on the CCC in system tray and navigate to>crossfire settings>show crossfire status icon. That will let you know when crossfire is working. Or maybe you have Catalyst AI disabled in the system tray? Set it to standard if it's disabled. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. :)
  13. I crank it up to 16X AF and 4X AA at 1920X1200. FYI CF does nothing for BS. EDIT: It appears I can set AA to 16X in the control panel with no hit in FPS in CF. Can't really tell any difference in image quality though.
  14. I had/have a 4870X2 sitting in my closet that I was using. I run 1920x1200 res
  15. I picked up a 30gb OCZ the other day($129 on newegg dot com w/30MIR). I wanted to put BS on it and ARMA 2. Loading times are faster however did not make any other improvements. I've never had a micro-stuttering issue in BS (that I can tell). What did make an improvement, albeit small(1 fps) was going from a AMD 720BE three core o/c to 3.4ghz to a AMD 965BE 3.4 quadcore. Now the interesting part is when I run the 965 o/c at 4.0ghz. There is a 4-5 increase in FPS, which I suspected. I picked up a 5870 as well, not specifically for BS, but that made zero difference, which I suspected. Going back to the ssd drive, I did quite a bit of research and if you go over to the OCZ forums, there seems to be a lot of maintenance required to keep these ssd drives up to speed. Using TRIM, GC(garbage collection) and firmware updates, which wipes all your data off the drive. I'm sure in time they will get better and the prices will come down. If you're pure geek and like fiddling with hardware you'll find nirvana for sure. As I always like to say YMMV. This is just my personal experience.
  16. FYI, I had a modest increase in FPS (about 1-2 fps) with the Dirt2 hotfix drivers and my XFX 5870. The hotfix claims it's for crossfire only however. Anyway YMMV but I was pleasantly surprised. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU41-Hotfix-to-improve-Dirt2-performance.aspx
  17. I'm using Vista 64 home premium and use suspend (sleep) all the time with no loss in performance in DCS or any other game. I do generally reboot after every 20-25 sleep cycles.
  18. I assume you are talking about a intel core 2 duo. What resolution are you running?
  19. Your cpu is not going to cut it. I had the same cpu as you do and DCS ran like crap. I did a complete upgrade for this game and am happy with how it "runs". That being said I think I had to run it at the lowest possible settings (with the P4 cpu) and it still would not average 30fps. Good luck.
