  1. Lower resolutions would need smaller dots and higher resolutions like 3440x1440 and 4K would want bigger dots because of the increased pixel density. My UW is impossible to spot distant targets on sometimes in optimal circumstances like dark object against clouds at 1+ miles. My understanding was the dot size was static between resolutions, I.E. 1 pixel for example.
  2. I flew on a different server and they worked fine just like in single player. I might stick with single player for this module till the bugs get worked out more.
  3. Can't hurt to try but my point was that it doesn't happen offline or in SP missions. Seems to be MP only. Same map sSinai, same rough distance to targets and offline I can follow the same procedure and hit them fine. Online, they miss wildly.
  4. This was the Sinai map. I'm not 100% sure that would be the issue as IIRC the Lima's are supposed to lock on to any target in the area. I watched one splash about 40 feet from a BMP-2 which should have been well within it's search area. I had to constantly have George slave and de-slave to different targets in order for the missile to track a target, even though it tracked the wrong target. If he didn't slave and de-slave and he fired, it would just impact the ground in the area not even close to the area the TADS was looking. Makes me think there's a bug there somewhere with the Lima tracking in multiplayer.
  5. Not sure if this is a known bug, or just me not doing something correctly however I was just on a MP server flying the AH-64D using the Lima Hellfire's and had George engaging targets and the Hellfire's were hitting the wrong targets and also flying out to the target area and flying right into the ground. I practiced in SP as I haven't flown the Apache in over a year and was having no issue's with the Lima's tracking the correct targets using the same procedure. Have George WAS Hellfire's, Have him slave to target area, select the target and verify it in the TADS, Wait for him to lase the target and store the target data and then give him consent to fire. 12 missiles and not a single one ever hit the correct target.
  6. Mode looks like it's in PP or pre-planned mode. I imagine you change it with the Mode pushbutton on the left DDI/MFD. Using the TGP you would want TOO, Target of Opportunity mode, unless your using the TGP to make mark points for PP mode. I don't use LGB's much if at all so I might be wrong.
  7. Hardly ever use the A2G radar unless it's extremely cloudy but I don't see why it wouldn't affect it to some degree. I've honestly never tested it though and I usually use just 1024, not every frame. It's expensive and doesn't really look any better. I think every frame option is for exporting to MFD's or external displays and it comes with a performance hit.
  8. I'm not sure there's a non hacky way to use purely openxr outside of the oculus app and what I read say's it's worse than just using the native app. I would be willing to say something was wrong with my setup if it wasn't just DCS, in VR, that was the issue. DCS outside of VR runs fine or relatively fine. Everything else in VR, fine. DCS in VR and it chugs.
  9. Should be using OpenXR via the oculus app. It's not using SteamVR. 5800X would hardly be a bottleneck it's "one" of the faster CPU's out there. My point was that nothing about my system "should" be considered a bottleneck to the degree that I have experienced. It's rather the software, not the hardware. I think it's self admittedly adhoc implementation in order to provide the ability to use VR but you hear about impending improvements and better API's being implemented and never seeing them come to light. as I said it's been 3 years since the original post and I've not seen that marked of an improvement in the year that I've had a VR headset.
  10. I haven't seen much of a VR improvement in DCS since I bought a Quest 2 roughly about a year ago now. I just went from a 1080 to a 3080 Ti and no offense but I'm getting roughly same performance, perhaps a little better with the same settings. Marianas map must be broken for VR because launching even with just my aircraft on that map is a .5 FPS slideshow. Syria and PG are definitely better however I see roughly the same performance with a 3080 Ti as I did with my 1080. That's not the case if I run out of VR where I literally cannot enable any regular settings to bog the fps down and I use a 3440x1440 UW monitor. Compared to other VR titles where I saw massive improvements DCS runs pretty terribly. PC is no slouch, Ryzen 7 5800X, 64gb DDR4 3200 ram, DCS on raid 0 SSD array. I looked at the original post date from Nineline and at roughly almost 3 years ago, I haven't seen many improvements to be honest.
  11. For every 1 person who thinks $150 is fair there's probably 100 who would say "screw it, not worth it". It's not about not being able to afford it either, It's about what I'm getting and perceived value. I also have to invest time into learning to actually be able to fly it. There's a time and a monetary cost investment. One of the reasons this is such a niche market is due to that. Customer perceived value is even more important, not less. for every 1 customer you lose it's the equivalent of 10-100 maybe even 1,000 from a AAA title for instance. Using myself as an example, I have less and less time to devote to sitting reading a manual and trying to learn how to fly some of the modules. I've gotten older, real life and other hobbies are more or less equally important. It's not that I don't want to. It's not that I can't afford to drop $150. It's that I would never use it enough to justify purchasing it and the perceived value dropped because. I would be more apt to wait for a sale, but by the time it does go on sale and actually hit a price point where I might drop money on it, I don't even think about it really and I'm talking about as the price rises because it makes the sales seem less like a sale really and more dropping down to their original price point. I'm probably more casual than those who build sim pits and spend $1000's on it as a hobby. To those people $150 is nothing because you spent $1000's building a sim pit and the perceived value isn't more or less but the value they place on their money is more or less. It's the basic whale mentality. All I'm trying to say is that the attitude that you would pay anything to get your hands on it isn't shared by most. I'm sure the developers will do what they think is best for the company, but even they are not infallible. I don't think the prices are all that extreme right now anyways but they are slowly approaching it.
  12. That attitude is short sighted because if you just tell your customers, or in this case you tell their customers for them, not to buy it then you don't have any customers or rather very few customers. If 10,000 people are willing to pay $80 but 100,000 are willing to pay $60, what price point actually made you more money. $800k vs $6 mil. Any criticism is valid as long as it's constructive. It's not first world problems, it's just good business to listen to your customer base.
  13. IIRC you both have to select rockets, I know I did it earlier with him with me as pilot and him as CP/G. The other way around I'm not sure of. I had the George UI up, both select rockets with WAS and just line the I up with the LOS reticle. He does the elevation. Didn't have an issue with him deselecting targets. Made a pass and rockets were pretty much dead on to where I was aiming. Also the I beam won't move up and down or I believe side to side, you have to physically move the helicopter and line it up.
  14. Maybe through HOTAS programming you might be able to setup a profile to toggle the button press. I think you have to hold it though, there's no keybind and there's no auto lasing that I know of. I don't mess much with the CP/G seat and I'm still trying to learn this thing so I could be wrong.
  15. I'm assuming most of the FM stuff is correct and I don't have to like it, but I think some of the issues with trim could be addressed with a smart trim reset since about 95% of us don't have FFB or mechanically held hardware. I also wonder if the collective is basically useful in only 10% or so if it's range. I sneeze on it and I'm either climbing or descending 5 degrees.
  16. Prefer the KA-50, more agile, faster, I just find it more fun and more relaxing to fly. Apache feels like it lacks power, it feels like a flying tank, unstable and more work to fly. I don't regret buying any modules as I buy them to learn them and experience them. Obviously some I'm going to enjoy more than others. I think I'm more surprised at how unstable it feels for such a modern airframe than anything. Especially after all the upgrades to it.
  17. It's not difficult, it's the trim system that makes it difficult. I've had situations where trimmed for flight, I go to hover and I spin in circles only to have to trim two to three times full deflection of rudder to counter the spin. It also feels very unstable below 40 knots. the collective is very wonky, and with any weapon loadouts it feels like it just doesn't have enough power for a hover. I can barely get it to hover, and I don't mean stability wise I mean I slowly descend, throughout the collective range. In regards to Hellfire's though the heli has to be stable, as in not wobbling or traveling too fast, or else they tend to go long. The OP's problem though I think is a sync'ing issue.
  18. I don't think it has one TBH. My issue is just how squirrely it feels in a hover and the collective seems to be very weak and erratic. Normal flight is fine. As for the Hellfire's, you have to keep the helo very stable in order for them to hit, throughout the flight of the missile. Even still, I've had them go long for no reason and I have the TADS up on my screen and can see he's keeping it on the target.
  19. I can't speak for multiplayer but using the George AI, I've noticed the Hellfire's going long frequently. I don't know if that's a bug or if it's just my inability to keep this thing in a hover.
  20. Attention to detail is nice, new FLIR tech is nice, great cockpit. Not impressed with flying it at all. Worse than Black Shark and Gazelle, those are the only other heli's I own. Might learn the CP/G aspect of it but unless I'm playing with someone, I find that kinda boring. Prefer the reverse of flying and letting the AI do the gunnery.
  21. GR video's have helped me learn quite a few things since picking DCS back up again. I can definitely tell that he rushes through them, but I think he generally wants to help people and the reason he has so many views is because it's entertaining, Some of his video's I just watched for the entertainment value alone. It's also short and sweet and while I like learning about all the systems and why they do things and the history behind them and interesting anecdotal stories associated with them, Sometimes I just wanna learn how to blow stuff up. Allot of tutorial video's are so long winded that I find I have to skip through to find relevant information. Wags video's are good, But I never watch them to actually learn because between information on what to do there's a 5-10 min long history or information lesson on the why. I can understand the need to learn the why in real life scenario's and training however this is a game. I think that's the concept some people need to learn, as much as you want to picture yourself as a pilot, at the end of the day you're not. Hate to burst your bubble. I've watched Spudknocker and he's somewhat of a middle ground in terms of concise info but I can't say I've watched any of the others and can't really comment on them.
  22. If you're using airlink, or if it's enabled for whatever reason, you have to disable that to use the cable link. After you disable it, when you plug the cable in it should ask whether you want to enable data transfer I think, Either way it's an accept or deny prompt. Click deny. Then it should come up with a popup if you want to enable oculus link or whatever it's called. Click yes.
  23. Not sure if this is a Chrome issue or not but tried to buy multiple campaigns and once the first one was added to the cart any other item I go to in the shop say's it's already in my cart and won't let me add it. Tried logging out and logging back in, clearing my cart and starting over and still seems to be doing it. I know I bought multiple items before in one purchase. Can be an issue as allot of times banks will flag purchases through the shop as potentially fraudulent and if there's more than two or three it will lock the card.
  24. someone in a server told me this but if you load them after you start the plane then they won't work. You have to load them before starting the plane for the stores page to see them. I guess a known bug.
  25. probably combo of radar elevation and bar scan mode being in 1 or 2 depending on how close they are.
