  1. The registry setting didn't help in my case. However, in another thread, which I can't find right now, someone mentioned uncheckboxing and recheckboxing the 100% cores from affinity option in Task Manager for DCS.exe. I can't believe that did it, but if I do that it has worked every time to remove the menu stuttering and it works fine for that session until I restart DCS again. Good find from soneone!
  2. I had downloaded ParkControl, but it said core parking was already disabled, so I assumed that was checked. However, the registry key provided in the link you posted was not set as recommended. That may be a thing, I'll test it again next week when I get a chance. DCS is even less stable with HT enabled, my buddy uses AMD (5800X3D) and he has to have SMT disabled to even start the game at all. If I start and close DCS over and over for about 10-20min, maybe trying to reboot the computer between, sometimes it will come up and work for a period of time. Totally insane way to have to run an app/game! ED has chosen not to update ST with any bug fixes/stuttering fixes (like bullet impact textures stutter issue) so even though ST sometimes works when MT does not, then you get all the issues that have only been applied to MT. You just trade one set of issues for others. This game requires dedicated practice to remain skilled at flying; landing, taking off, formation flying, IFR, situational awareness, plane specific controls, etc. When we can't play/practice we degrade, and we have to start over. VR just barely works on a good day, so these failures are super frustrating for anyone who wants to remain dedicated and skilled in the product. I wish they would test the huge impactful stuff in some kind of Alpha state and not in Beta, where likely the majority of clients are using the product out of necessity. Appreciate the help! Thanks guys!
  3. With the last update I am unable to use DCS anymore, everything is a slideshow, even the main menu. Did all the hundreds of tshooting steps with no effect. I have a 13900k and 4090. This product is so frustrating, I spend more than half my time tshooting and dealing with issues than actually using the product. My buddy and I have stopped buying modules and are moving away from using DCS due to the hassle. What a major bummer. What's happening at ED? Have they totally lost it? Sure seems like it. -sad-
  4. I've got a question. From what I've read you need to run SteamVR to get tracking and OpenXR support. However, from what I have experienced and read on the forums, DCS Multi Thread does not work with SteamVR+OpenXR? So then won't you be stuck using single thread? ...and I'd assume ED will do away with single thread after some time, rendering the HMD unusable for DCS?
  5. Looks like the old bug came back in the last update. All the trains have gone smokeless again.
  6. Same problem for me and my buddy on two totally different systems. When in muiltiplayer it causes desync with the server from the client side as well.
  7. I came from 2080ti + 8700k@5Ghz --> 3090 + 8700k@5Ghz/13900k --> 4090 + 13900k. It was a small change from 2080ti to 3090 and big (double+ previous upgrade) change from 3090 to 4090. The 8700k@5Ghz to 13900k was good for 10-15% improvement in 1% lows, but not much on the high end of fps. I feel the 4090 on 8700k@5Ghz would have been ok, just leaving a little on the low end on the table. BTW, I have 64GB RAM as well. Even on this highest end setup I still have to run reduced 70% supersampling on the G2 to get decent smoothness, and still have to put up with stutters/shimmers here and there at that. What I'm saying is even if you go big it's not enough to overcome the shortcomings of this game. Framerate is still an issue to contend with throwing everything at it HW wise. That said, the 4090 was the best bang for the buck investment in my system. (god it sounds crazy to say that about a 4090! Fantastic card) I don't have any experience with the 9900KF, perhaps you can extrapolate from my 8700K@5Ghz experience...
  8. Thanks for the tip, I'm giving it a shot(I tried it in the past for hopes of performance improvement, but it did nothing at that time). So far so good, no crashes or hangs in F10, but the issue is pretty random so it will take a while to confirm. This issue they're having is hugely impactful, I had to pull power to my unit yesterday to recover and then my hardware got fouled up somehow and I had to completely disassemble my whole system and put it back together to get it to work again. What the heck is in this multithread executable! jeez! I really hope they can figure this stuff out, I'm missing playing DCS and being forced to look at other VR games for entertainment.
  9. I have the same hardware setup and the same issue. Random freeze loading at main menu. Pretty much have to pull the power off my case to get my computer back when it happens. Crazy.
  10. Yup, I'm on 13900k. I also find it random, but pretty prevalent. It took me about 6-7 tries of starting DCS to get it to work. A couple of times I literally had to unplug my computer to get it to restart. ctrl-alt-del didn't even respond. When I was able to open task manager once I just saw one core pegged at 100% and all other cores locked at 0%.
  11. I have the same issues since last update. Game is running but VR headset is black for quite a while, then kind of studders to life eventually. If I go to F10 map the whole game stops dead and if I'm running standalone server, it seems to hang that too... or my client disconnects and then tries to recover making everything in the mission haywire. Going to the F10 map seems to be the sure way to make the problem appear.
  12. This is by far the best module I've bought in a long time. Great flight model, spectacular performance in VR, not many bugs, for me anyway; all on EA release! It's clear someone put lots of time and thought into this module and really gave it some love, it shows. They also had the skills to do a good job. Now if we could just get the even a fraction of that quality out of ED on the core game (especially) and their modules. I get 10x better framerate with this module than the F-16 !?!? Crazy. I can actually fly downtown Dubai without getting sick in VR. My mind is blown, hats off, major respect.
  13. Great tips guys, thanks. I've tried everything mentioned, but I'm going back and double checking. I did find that I had forgotten to disable full screen optimizations for the new MT shortcut I created. But I played it back and forth with that setting and could not tell the difference. Now for the weird part. My usual flying buddy and I have been using DCS for the past 4 years. In that time we've come up with this saying "It's a bad (or good) DCS day". Basically it seems each time we play the game seems to behave differently. Not just in subtle ways, but some days it will perform terribly and others great. I had stopped using MT a while back when the performance stopped being good. Now randomly with no changes it's working fast again, at least as fast as ST with the benefit of some fixes that have only been applied to the MT version, like the bullet hole stuttering fix. I don't know how long it will perform well, but we'll see. Does anyone else have this kind of experience with DCS, where it seems to randomly change behavior and performance from day to day?
  14. MT has massive stuttering making it feel like 10-20fps (even though the counters show 80-90fps and 7-10ms, it's totally wrong) and causing nausea. I'm on a 13900k and 4090, so it's not my system. I run very low settings. 70% understampled and med or less settings all else. No one has come up with any suggestions that have led to a solution or explanation. I have a clean install with no mods. ST also works great, no stutters, very smooth, same settings. SteamVR also allows you to run SteamVR apps with DCS running at the same time, that's huge! I cannot get Steam VR to run DCS with OpenXR, it just crashes loading.
  15. How you describe stutters is more of what I'm getting, but its very prevalent. In the right scene it's pretty much all the time. The really backwards thing about it is that all the counters say 7-10ms and 80-90fps, yet the screen is nauseating with jumpiness. Stutters vs bad frame rate, kind of the same thing experience wise, i.e. unplayable, in my case anyway. The experience is so much better using ST and steam VR its not even a consideration to use MT. I've heard a lot of people rave about MT being so much better, yet in my case it's just terrible, which makes me think something is not right with my setup. I'm totally stumped as to what that is.
  16. I'm in an HP G2. Single thread is using SteamVR and works perfectly. Maybe I should try OpenXR in ST and see if it's OXR that's the issue... hmmm.. I'll try that! Yea, for a short while I had MT working decently (for about a week), then it just stopped being good with no changes on my part. I cleared shaders/etc no change. It's been unplayable since. I can relate a bit to the threads indicating strong aircraft pitch changes or head movement revealing the slow frames.... especially with horizon lines in view. I can't get MT to run with SteamVR, it just doesn't work, won't start.
  17. I'm on a 13900k and 4090, so I would have thought the MT update would be beneficial. However, I've not been able to experience any consistent benefit at all, quite the opposite actually. I've done a lot of the standard tshooting steps and follow every thread here to try new things people are working on with their issues. A few things helped a little bit, but not enough to be playable. What I experience is both the in game performance counters and the OpenXR performance counters report great specs 7-10MS, 80-90 fps really consistent. However, the reality of actually looking through the headset is what looks like 10-30 fps a lot of the time, even causing nausea. If I switch to ST, keeping all settings the same, the performance is great in comparison, like 2-3 times better looking actually in the headset. What's really odd is that the fps counters are WORSE in ST but the actual experience is way better, actually playable. It's almost as of the performance counters are just faked for MT or something, at least the actual experience is what it leads you to believe. How do I move forward here? I've posted logs and settings previously with no response. Is there a process I can run through to get this resolved?
  18. MT sure is a rollercoaster. For the first few weeks I couldn't get it to load, then once I did it was super bad performance and visuals. Somehow that cleared up after a week or two, and then the other day it just went back to crap again with no changes on my part! WTH?!?!
  19. What are you using to show that? I'd definitely like to capture frame time as the FPS are showing like 75-80 but I'm seeing what looks like about 10-20, the numbers are completely disconnected from the experience.
  20. I have only experienced worse performance with MT up to this point. This last update just fixed a small part of it. I believe it was the bullet impact marks fix that did it. In a few places in some missions, I now don't get any stuttering at all whereas in the past it was terrible. This fixed both MT and ST, and I had the issue before MT was released also. Just want to confirm finally something made an improvement to the game. Keep up the good work! There's still a way to go unfortunately. Smoke and/or fire scenes still plague us with huge stuttering at times. PS. I'm using VR
  21. I went back to all the track files for a mission that produces the issue and tried to play them back but they just end after 10 seconds, whereas the missions are about 1.5hrs. I'd either have to live stream it or literally put a gopro looking at my monitor due to the playback bug which doesn't allow playback, LOL. They are 52MB each, what a waste of disk space. The conditions in my mission are having an F-5 with full fuel, or close to it, two sidewinders on the wingtips. Chase down a fully loaded TU-22 and shoot it with guns, as he maneuvers or turns sharply, if you're in the wake turbulence the wings will rip off.
  22. I get this too. If I fly behind a TU-22 and he makes any kind of quick turn or movement my wings go bye-bye. Even with hands off the stick. Is that realistic?
  23. In the past we didn't have this issue. Is there now a dead zone defined in the throttle movement that's supposed to be there? The airbrake also randomly doesn't work, so I think there's a bigger issue with the module.
  24. London and Paris look stunning, overall great work. I was surprised the FPS were as good as they were. That said, these huge cities with thousands of objects does nothing for VR users. Other than a casual high/slow flyby you'd never be able to play a sortie there due to framerate limits even at lowest settings. FPS is also down in the smaller towns I had missions in, love/hate on this one for VR. Definitely no love for VR users in this game. Unfortunately, the update, while it looks awesome, reduced performance for VR even more. I will now have to play this map less.
