  1. Hi all While flying today had a thought. Is DCS getting to the point where users are needing to brute force with hardware to get it to run at a decent level? I see people with high end CPUs and 4090s still having issues, and in VR I'd imagine this to be even worse for some. It seems that following every update we are having to adjust, turn down settings, fiddle with VR software tricks and outside programs to keep the FPS as it once was. Its odd that in 2023 the performance still isnt matching what the hardware is capable of providing. I know MT is now on the horizon and people are reporting much better results, but with the resulting bugs and issues in its wake. Are the modules possibly getting "too" high fidelity, at the overall cost of performance to your simming? Dont get me wrong, love DCS and spend hours in it, but surely by now, the (very) expensive hardware that people have now been getting should be able to run this sim at a reasonable levvel, especially in VR which has become so prevalent in gaming these days? Curious on your thoughts?
  2. I find I`m now flying more and more in VR so the FC3 modules are great for me as they dont require fiddling with the mouse in VR which i find a real pain and takes me out of the immersion or trying to squint into MFDs. Using my Warthog HOTAS and two button boxes on my rig means i dont ever have to reach for the mouse at all now. The A10-A is still one of my favourite modules, considering i also own the A10-C.
  3. Hi all This is probably an easy answer but just wanted to check. I primarily use the Huey in MP(which has its own quirks in SRS in how it uses it) and have bound my triggers on my Warthog as the primary comms switches as per the real helo. However if i use another plane the trigger obviously is used for shooting so I assume if i create a SRS profile for each of the modules i use with specific controls and switch between them this would allow me to use the Huey trigger as the PTT within SRS without causing an open mic etc?
  4. Hi all Decided after trying out general Multiplayer for a while, it ultimately felt like I was simply doing what i was doing in single player within a multiplayer environment but with less fancy scripting of user made missions, and it seemed to be a bit of a free for all. It was very cool seeing loads of others online doing there own thing but felt I was missing out on what makes DCS great. So thought about dabbling in the world of virtual squadrons where you could fly with others with a focus. However on browsing some of the posts, I`m guessing most of them out there need 3 months of paper based training exams followed by a fully qualified check list flight while doing AAR at nightitme in a thunderstorm before even I even get considered? Was looking for something a little less "intense" and more along the lines of some co-ordinated missions with like minded pilots. I also love the idea of getting together and practicing on various modules that I may not have a lot of seat time in alongside others to get my skills up. Is there such a thing out there? Im UK based and primarily fly the Harrier, the Huey (Im not seeing any dedicated Huey squadrons that involve logistics/troop deployment as part of a larger multi group?), the Hog (A & C) and the Hornet.....Actually just realised mostly H's... (I do have most of the other modules too)
  5. Thats exactly the issue i am seeing. I thought it might have been a faulty switch on my Warthog throttle but no, to get COMM1 (FWD) I need to go AFT for COMM2 then FWD to get the COMM1 menu up. I even tested it on all other modules i own just in case and had no issues - the Throttle switch worked as intended. Just semes to be a weird Harrier issue. Even tried remapping the COMM1 switch in controls and its the same. To get COMM1 I need to go to COMM2 then back to COMM1. At least it looks like its been addressed and will be updated in next OB build?
  6. Sadly the Apache isnt available as part of the trial currently
  7. Try Bartek`s Caucasus Redone textures, they have a partial snowless winter one
  8. Did you release the parking brake lever, just behind the throttle?
  9. Have you seen how bad clusterbombs lag, just think how bad it would be with HEI rounds like that....
  10. Yeh its been noted in VR forum too. Think its a feature rather than bug to be honest.
  11. I`ll give it another go, I was using OvGME which is set to the correct folder but maybe i need to manually do it this time around to make sure
  12. Prob the reason, i never use the mod so it`ll have been an older version. Same with the UH-60
  13. Thanks, tried it but wouldnt authorize it when loading into DCS
  14. Thanks Flappie for taking a look. After doing a test and looking at sound log i noticed that i still had A-29, UH-60, T45 and A4 mods still installed. Taking them out restored sound to CA, so tried them one at a time, and it appears that its the UH-60 and A-4 mods that are causing the silence. The other two dont affect it.
  15. Would be handy to have even a rudimentary save feature as CA missions can take a long time to complete, even the smaller ones. Be nice to be able to take time in each mission and then come back to it.
  16. NOT OK For me Bradley`s, LAV-25, M113, M2A1 are silent. All Russian Tanks, BMPs & Shilkas, BTRs, Tunguska dont work as well. All without engines, all other sounds are fine, guns, turret whine etc Seems hit and miss, played around with a random bunch in ME
  17. Seems that only some vehicles are affected for myself. Wheeled vehicles seem ok like HUMVEEs, trucks etc, along with SP artillery. Its the tracked tanks like Abrahams and Bradleys and Russian stuff that dont have engine sounds?
  18. Yeh looks like it was briefly down - its back up and can log in ok now
  19. Ok im obviously doing something totally wrong and missing a step here, but im having an issue with radios in both A10s. At Nellis, cold and dark Batteries on etc,( do you need the APU on, APU GEN on for radios to work? if not they are on anyway) INTER Panel all volumes are up and selected VHF AM set to Man and TR Set freq of 132.550 Transmit on VHF AM swtich on throttle to request start up I hear just "Hawg" briefly then nothing else, despite the subtitle text giving the usual at the top of screen What the heck am i missing to get this working? Easy Comms off as usual. SRS isnt running in background. I also cant hear Squelch when selected which is odd? Also when starting in Instant all ready running mission it all works as intended and i can hear everything on each radio if i tune it in correctly. Im clearly rusty in the Hog.....
  20. Thought something had changed a while back but only noticed it recently. So i can bind those 2 Warthog swtiches to something else as i wont really need them
  21. Probably an obvious reason, but I seem to remember years ago the AC GEN, Boost Pumps and Eng Fuel Flow switches were always in the off position and I had to flick them when starting up. Now these are always in the On positions (making the ENG FUEL FLOW switches on my TMWH throttle a bit redundant?) Same for both A10C and A10C II
  22. Not sure if it affects anyone else but im not hearing any engine sounds now in any vehicle inside or out. The gun firing sounds are fine, turrent whine, explosions etc, just no engines?
  23. I think its trying to simulate the bloom effect of looking at a brighter light from a darkened area, and the way the pupils react after being wide open for the dark area - in this example the cockpit.
  24. Im guessing its something to do with people who are only trialling a module and dont actually own it yet it, but are allowed to use it in those multiplayer servers? It doesnt affect you joining as far as I`ve experienced?
