    No similar issues here.

Does it crash outside of DCS?  You could test that by just using the desktop in VR for a while.

    No, just in DCS

Next time it crashes drop your “C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log” file here (don’t restart the game as this only contains your last session) . It may just be a text document named “dcs” if your Windows is hiding file extensions. If there is a crash zip file then drop that here too.

You can additionally run the Windows DxDiag tool, save the report, and drop here. This will contain the last 10 crashes/issues on your system so may help identify cause.

    Will do

Try replacing the cable. I've had crashes and disconnects when mine was on its last legs.

You can try airlink to test if the problems remain. If it keeps crashing, then it's not the cable.

Cable is less than a year old but noted your comment.

I can't do airlink, router too old.

  2. Hi,

This just started happening over the past 3 weeks.  I'll be flying along and then suddenly the Oculus Link (I have via USB connection to PC) drops.  I am left viewing the Oculus home page.  I re-connect and am unable to get back to DCS since it has crashed.

So, I am unsure if this crash was brought on by DCS and Oculus is dropping due to that - or the other way around.

Whenever the crash occurs, it sends off a report.

It doesn't happen all the time.  I flew for a good 2 hours the other night before it dumped.  The next night, it did so 20 minutes in.

No hardware changes made for a very long time.  Quest Pro, Intel i9, 64gb, RTX4090, all recent Windows 11 updates.

    Thanks

  3. Hi,

I have an Oculus Quest Pro and at startup. the Windows application (Meta Quest Link) prompted to update.

That promptly blew up, DCS gets as far as the nvidia splash screen, then the DCS logo - and bam.

Meta Quest Link App Version 68.0.0.433.361 (68.0.0.433.361)

I saw others have issues with this on the Meta forum.

I saw I had OpenXR Toolkit and OpenXR installed on my PC.  I uninstalled those (since Oculus has their own) and still blowing up

  4. I wonder if this is at related to the spinning hourglass icon I continue to see loading into a map or spawning into an aircraft with my Meta Quest Pro?

The patch gave me back hand detection to use on the interactive cockpit jets.  (I need to shut that off, apparently inside the Oculus software?)

I am also sometimes getting so long freezes if I move my head way over, like to setup the systems before takeoff.  I moved my head way to the left in the F-4 to check the left side switches and got a very long, 3 minute long freeze that eventually let go.

I'm also noticing if I hit the F2 view, I am beneath the aircraft, not off to the side as usual.  I am seeing the F10 map move a bit too with headmovement.

I flew for a few hours last night with friends and one had 4 crashes in a row with his Pimax Crystal.

So I am not entirely sure what's affecting my issues - Meta or DCS World?

But - I am back flying.  I noticed my OpenXR FPS counter went away but using the DCS one, I am seeing a pretty solid 90 FPS.

  5. Hi,

I'm not sure if this is in 2D as well as I fly solely VR with the Meta Quest Pro

After the update I cleared out my FXO and Metashaders folders and loaded DCS World.

I went into a multiplayer map and loaded up.  I kept seeing the spinning hourglass and it went away when the game loaded into the Slot list.

Once I got into an airplane and loaded up, I continued to see this spinning icon off and on.

I'm not sure if this is related to the particular map or not, but I've never had that floating hourglass before?

One of the players on VOX indicated it could be an issue with the Super Carrier?  I disabled that module and it did improve some.

But again, the spinning hourglass is new to me.  Is this generated by DCS or Meta Quest Pro?

    - platforms vendors don't care. You can see that Varjo, Microsoft, left. As for Meta they are clearly only interested in wireless (standalone) and glasses, and they haven't really done anything positive for PCVR in forever. Worse: they are currently creating a silo'ed ecosystem with the help of game developers, through something called "OVRPlugin" which basically nullifies all of the benefits and work that the industry has done with OpenXR in the last few years. Most games released so far in 2024 use OVRPlugin instead of OpenXR: this means they cannot run with OpenXR on non-Meta headsets.

Wait, questions @mbucchia - I have a QuestPro and have this issue.  Asides waiting for ED to fix the game, is there a different process I can take to get up and running again?  A little confused about that OVRPlugin mention you made.

  7. I'm hoping for improvements since I can't seem to get Jester to lock up enemy targets close to me (25 miles) but he certainly likes calling out bogeys 80+ miles out.  I can't seem to figure out how to make him prioritize anything close by.  I have to jump into the F10 view a lot to see what's really being locked on...because he won't identify the close ones!

Also, is the Tomcat ECM notoriously weak or am I doing something wrong?  I'm flying Cold War servers and I get the Tomcat is a big radar target, but evasive moves, chaff/flare and ECM don't seem to work most of the time.  (Well, it kills to idiot in the back seat so, there's one positive  🙂  )

  8. Any updates on the Starfighter?

One of my favorites.  I spent an afternoon at the Palm Springs Air Museum where they have an F-14, F-104 and other birds I couldn't arrange to bring home  😃

If you rearmed on the ground you need to set RIGHT HDPT to OFF and then ON again, then wait for TGP to power up.

Hi thanks for chiming in but this happens even in a new jet.  Something has changed in the TPOD start up process and it takes a very long  time now.

  10. Same feeling of disappointment.  As I posted elsewhere, now the Targeting Pod is fubar.  You power it on as part of pre flight ,take off, and you are stuck waiting for 10 minutes for the thing to show Stand By and Not SOI.  Then after a longer wait, you now have this new A/G mode button to finally use the pod.

I don't understand how no one of the testing team spotted that gee, the pod sure takes a long time to work.  Before, the only real delay was for the JDAMs so synch up.

G effects really don't mean much to me.  Some aircraft have a bigger issue with it.  Do a tight turn in a Tomcat and it'll go instant black and never come back (til you go BOOM).

On my wish list would be the F-16 Little Buddy's, to counter the SAMs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/ALE-50_towed_decoy_system )

  11. Not sure if the next hot patch fixes this (DCS currently giving Error 500).

Power on TGP as part of pre-flight.

Get into the air, activate the JDAM 2k Penetrator.

Toggle on TGP and OFF screen.

Only way I seem to get it back is to power the pylon off and on, wait.  Eventually get some soft of Not SOI screen.  Eventually get enough of a menu to select AG and get the TGP to work.
