  1. Flight sim community be like:
  2. I can't disagree with what you say about the community being it's own worst enemy, and the flight sim community has a real knack for it . But I think there's also an element of devs, in the whole of the gaming industry, being quite ameniable to EA as a way of getting income. So there is fault on both sides I suppose. I just get a touch frustrated that the core game doesn't get as much attention as the numerous DLC's being released to fly in it.
  3. The Apache is the only module which peaks my interest at the moment, although I'm delaying any purchase until it drops. After the F16 I'm in the 'once bitten twice shy' camp. I'm also not sure I want to invest more hard earned into a sim which at the moment is basically more a flight simulator than a combat simulator. I appreciate that's a very subjective opinion and people play differently and derive satifaction from different aspects of the sim, but for me, I'm finding it frustrating having a library of hi-fidelity aircraft but not having any meaningful to do with them. Maybe once (if) a dynamic campaign arrives and I feel like I'm part of something bigger and making a difference I'll be more inclined to invest time and money.
  4. I discounted the Oculus 2 pretty much immediately. Any piece of hardware which is reliant on using an insidious and predatory social media account is an instant no no... no matter how good it's other qualities may be. Thanks @dburne could you elaborate on what the shortcomings are when viewing beyond the cockpit? I'm trying to get into helicopter flying (no previous experience) and was thinking the immersion vr gives may possibly make it easier than the Trackir/monitor setup I currently have? Thanks all for your comments
  5. Tried a Rift CV1 several years ago and whilst the immersion was impressive for the most part, the resolution and clarity of instruments was a bit of a dealbreaker for me. I also couldn't get past the grainy image quality. I returned the Rift and thought I'd give it a few years before seeing if the technology had improved. I've read a lot of good stuff about the Reverb G2 and DCS and I'm wondering if now is the time to dip my toe back in again? Could I expect a night and day difference between what I experienced with the Rift CV1 and the G2? My specs are: I7 9700K 32Gb 2600 Ram 2080Ti OC Thanks for any pointers.
  6. Thanks LeCuvier. I've played around a bit with the controls and found a deadzone of 4 and a curve of 20 seems to help a lot. No idea why as my simple brain doesn't understand what curves do. So I'll just accept it as a fact
  7. Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. The file I attached is for the A10C II, I don't have the Mosquito module. Is the lua file edit not possible for other modules? Thanks for the reply Art-J, appreciated.
  8. Is the solution @scoobie provided still the answer? I'm having the same issue with having to chase the trim in pitch. I've checked the file Scoobie referenced but I can't find the relevant line. Just wondering if the file structure has changed since this thread began? I'm on Steam and not the stand alone version. File attached Cheers default.lua
  9. I have the Steam version with only one skin installed which I put in 'Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Liveries' It shows up in the Rearm/Refuel menu, not sure about the mission editor as I've yet to figure out how the damned thing works
  10. Having recently bought the Rift I can say it was the most jaw dropping sense of immersion I've ever experienced, to the point were I forgot I was sitting in a computer chair and started reaching around to try to touch stuff in the cockpit. I now understand the spilt beer comments. I returned it one week later. For me the deal breakers were: Resolution is not quite there yet and the resulting screen door effect, at least for me, was a real hinderance. I just couldn't get past it. Not sure if it's related to wearing glasses but I found it a real pain to constantly have to adjust the headset to realign my eyes to the sweet spot where text became clear(ish). I'm now using TrackIR and finding it a much better solution for someone who is, ability wise, at the novice end of the scale in DCS. Looking forward to what the next gen VR may possibly offer. If it solves the above issues I will definately be dipping my toe again.
