  1. @noobee Taz1004_Better_Smoke_v18_SP\Config\Effects\ParticleSystem2\shipTrail.lua I'm not sure which parameters need to be adjusted, so make a back up to be safe. Play around with the different parameters until you achieve the desired effect. If you eff it up, resort to back up and try again. Let me know how you do.
  2. Wrong, that's for the movie. The video that @Stratos was asking about was made in DCS. At The end it clearly states all footage captured in game.
  3. Sorry, it goes by too fast for a positive ID. There are some similar valleys about 25 to 30 nm S, SE of Hatay. Best I can do for now.
  4. I spent a couple of hours cruising all of the islands in a helicopter and these trees are everywhere. They are not as plentiful on Guam, probably because the people have cut most of them down for wood. The ones on Tinian are more plentiful as it is far less populated, but just like IRL they are not all the same size. Some of the biggest ones are on the north end if the Tinian island, which is what sparked this whole thread. One that I found on Guam, SE of Antonio Won Pat, in a park at a lower altitude seems smaller from the air, but it is the same as one of the trees on higher ground NE of north Field.
  5. Nothing changed. It's been like that for years. Sometimes you get lucky, most times you don't.
  6. OK, I see we've gotten our signals crossed. I wasn't talking about Captain Joe. I was talking about the other vid by "The Fighter Pilot Podcast" with Vincent "Jell-O" Aiello, Andy "Grand" Mariner, Dave "Chip" Berke and Jim "Jambo" Ray Four former combat pilots and top gun instructors reviewing the movie. These guys know their "stuff". How much "stuff" do you know?
  7. Umm...there is very little CGI in this movie. It's mostly "in camera" footage of real planes doing real maneuvers.
  8. and how many RL F-18's and F-22's have you flown? The guy is a retired top gun instructor. Tube liner is what he does now for a living. Seriously Dude, how many times does it have to be said? "It's a movie, not a documentary."
  9. If you look close, these Banyan trees are all over the map. They are different sizes with the largest ones in north and south Tinian Island. Here is a pic of the area near the power plant SW of North Field. Since they are a lighter shade of green, they are easy to spot.
  10. Very well put. It's called entertainment. Star Wars also ignores the fact that there is no air in space. X-Wings and Tie Fighters constantly doing maneuvers that are impossible without an atmosphere to push against. Explosions in space would also have no sound. What good is an explosion if you can't hear the boom? But we all love it anyway. Star Trek also ignores the fact that there is no such thing as Warp Drive, or transporters, or Di lithium Crystals etc. It's called "Suspension of Disbelief." Sci-Fi and action movies wouldn't exist without it. It's all about the story. As for those who don't like Tom Cruise, I agree. He's a weird person and his religious beliefs are even weirder, but I can separate the art from the artist and respect his talents as an actor, stuntman, RL pilot and his ability to tell a story.
  11. Thanks @SkateZilla, I didn't know that.
  12. Sorry, it wasn't personal. I meant to include the other guy on page 1 who did say P.
  13. I don't think it's a P-51. Looks more like a TF. The P doesn't have a back seat.
  14. Looks to me like a proper bug report is in order.
  15. @Hawkeye60 Thanks for the advice, but on second thought, I would like to keep them the way they are. Is there a way to modify the OH6 liveries for use with the AH6? The AH AI's and wingmen are terrible. They will not follow waypoints, nor tasks, nor will they shoot at anything, nor fly any faster than 42 knots. The OH mod works perfectly so, here's where I am at right now. I would like to fly the AH and use the OH as AI's but would like to use the same liveries on both mods. Any ideas??
  16. Not exactly DCS related, but very entertaining vid as actor Tom Cruise takes Late Late Show host James Corden for a ride in his very own TF-51D and then in a jet that I don't recognize. Anyone???
  17. Right on @AG-51_Razor, The main problem with the Corsair was that it wasn't really good for carrier ops. It becomes unstable at landing speeds and the gear would often break because the plane wanted to fall out of the sky. Most pilots ended up at too fast a speed and the gear couldn't handle the stresses. The long nose made carrier approaches difficult. You couldn't see well enough to line up with the boat. You had to approach from the side and then turn into the boat at the last second. The Navy actually tried beefing up the gear, but then they decided to give it to The Marines for land-based operations. If you remember the "Black Sheep Squadron" TV show, they didn't do carrier ops. They were based on land and used by the Marines.
  18. Wanna share how you did it? Where is the file located? How did you change it?
  19. @Hawkeye60 I like it. Nibbylot's flyable version is nice also, however, since v0.4 the AI and wingmen do not follow waypoints, or tasks, nor do they shoot, nor do they fly any faster than 42 knots. It's nice to have some AI that actually do something; now if we could just make these flyable, that would be cool. You say that the two mods could be combined. How would I go about doing that?
  20. Nobody said that it is an underground base. Only hidden. Maybe in a forested area overgrown by trees. I'm still searching around Tbilisi. TBA
  21. The proper iteration of Marianas WWll would be for it to be already occupied by the Japanese. Then of course we would need the appropriate Japanese assets to go with it. You are correct. My point was that the capture of the Marianas was a key strategic location, putting our bomber fleet in striking range of the Japanese mainland. Many sorties were flown from Tinian before the big bombs, dealing massive damage in Tokyo, Kobe and more. I am proud of my father who served beginning in 1944 at the battles on Saipan and Tinian then on to Iwo Jima. This was his ship. USS McNair - Wikipedia
  22. Also, the F6F Hellcat would be awesome as well. It killed more Zeros than any other plane.
  23. @rkk01 @AG-51_Razor The US capture of The Marianas, especially Tinian, led directly to the end of the war. The Enola Gay took off from Tinian to bomb Hiroshima.
  24. I knew that, but don't they have to at least pay Mag 3 for it? For all we know the mod may be finished, but ED may not have the budget for it yet.
