  1. Hi @VWJ, when you disconnect from the tanker before you're done refueling, you need to reset the refueling system by pressing the nose wheel steering button. Your aerial refuel status indicator to the right of the HUD below your compass will then state "Ready" when you are good to go again, and the boom will reconnect once you're in position behind the tanker. Try that and let us know how you get on.
  2. Hi All, Whilst using VR is an absolute dream immersion wise, it's a nightmare when that JTAC is reading out coordinates and you need to start noting them down. Has anyone tried a solution with an electronic pad you can write on, to which a software can project the notes in a window in DCS, in principle it would be like writing notes on the kneepad? I have not found such a solution yet, but I came across RMarkable the other day (a pad whcih feels like writing on paper apparently) and it has LiveView functionality so that you can write on the "paper" on project the display on your PC. Might be a good way of doing it, but I bet it is not supported or whatever. Are there any other solutions like that available?
  3. HP's Reverb VR Pro Headset Edit: Scratch that, I’ve read through this thread and found answers! Thank you all!
  4. New VR Pointing Device Miles, thank you for everything you do and have done on this project, it is beyond anything the community expected I’m sure. I personally admire it all, I think it’s just phenomenal what you and Carol have achieved along with the community. On that note; reading through your recent posts about being exhausted etc., it sounds like you’re approaching the wall rather fast? Are you sure you shouldn’t take a couple of weeks or more off and relax for a bit? Don’t let this thing overwhelm you, the community can afford to wait longer for the benefit of your health. I mean, none of us are superheroes! Don’t let expectations of others push you over the edge, seriously.
  5. Hi All, I don’t often update DCS as I like a stable version, so I leave it for a while. However, today I initiated the download about seven hours ago, and I’m telling you, this thing is completely broken! I mean, it never finishes!! Look at this: This is after previous windows where larger updates has taken place, so it seems to be downloading multiple files, yet it just never finish? What is going on?
  6. What difference does it make whether it was communicated in the change log or not? It was communicated here with a thread specifically designated for the testing results of it which itself proves it has been rolled out, so you’ve had the headline you were waiting for. Surely that’s gotta be more clear than another post in an already long thread? And if people read the thread, it explicitly asks for users to test the OB vs the stable version and post their results which in itself confirms they’re expecting to see effects of a rollout which means it must have been rolled out. Further, it’s been more than one post in various threads stating (in one way or another) the change has been rolled out. I agree that if you’re expecting the normal comms procedure to announce this as well, then it was not properly communicated, but who cares! The important thing is it was communicated, not how it was communicated. It seems to have become a thing on this forum to instantaneously criticise ED for anything, rather than to just accept things are the way they are, stop whining about it and be patient and understanding. Even when they are communicating, it is a massive problem cause "they’re not saying it right"... If people need to be spoonfed, a forum is not the place to expect that. We need to seriously look ourselves in the mirror and stop complaining, and rather help where we can in the ways we can. Pull the rope in the same direction as ED, rather than pulling it from the opposite end and make it harder for them. There’s constructive behaviour, and there’s destructive behaviour. You preach about corporations all the god damn time, so you should know how those two behaviours impact a corporation; don’t contribute to the destructive force.
  7. M1: PointCtrl is your friend. See the thread New VR Pointing Device under the Input and Output section, and you’ll have the solution to all your problems using the mouse.
  8. I do not understand how it is not clear to members on the forum yet. It has been officially stated that ED has rolled out the optimisation in the OB, without the desired results for its users. I.e.: It has been rolled out. Whoever says otherwise is incorrect. Hence this thread and the VR Test Results thread.
  9. Unfortunately very true. One day... That video certainly makes my own office seem very depressing. Even putting the disks into the flight computer looks appealing!
  10. Now, that is why having two cursors in DCS, one for each FCU, would be great! That video demonstrates the need bang on. ;)
  11. Sure, but I will not be home until Sunday, so it will have to wait until then unless someone else might be able to help. Until then, page 28 and 29 in the DCS World Manual will provide more information on curvature and deadzone.
  12. Set up some curvature on the axes in the DCS Controls menu. That will also allow you to set a deadzone if you wish. Let me know if you have troubles doing this, and I can help you.

    AMPCD

Do you mean BW specifically, or non-colour non-map AMPCD? For the latter you can click Mode (if I remember correctly) on the left side (OSB 18 I think) and it should change from a moving map to HSI on black background on our Hornet in DCS. For the former, don't think it's implemented. Although I believe someone mentioned something about changing the font colour through a .lua file, not sure if anyone else might recall this?
  14. I violated Forum Rule 1.16, so my previous post got deleted. Apologies for that, mods! Won't happen again. I'll try to repeat what I wrote, in case it may help others in training like myself. Re those who experience a nose pitch up in the pattern: I've been able to refine my lap around the boat quite smooth (now just gotta get better at vertical velocity control when turning base leg). I turn crosswind at 350 knots 800' and deploy speedbrake immediately after initiating the turn. I sustain roughly 1% G through the turn, and deploy full flaps and gears down at the same time - the negative vertical velocity due to the bank helps to offset the pitch you experience as an issue when deploying flaps and gears at 25 knots. It also improves the pattern management; you're almost fully configured when going wings level on downwind, and can focus on the trim to establish yourself on on-speed AoA and control your descent down to 600' whilst at the same time taking a peek at the lady to your left. It just improves the time management in the pattern immensely to configure all but the trim on the first turn so that you can focus on energy management and the angles once you find yourself abeam the ship. It's probably not the 'right' way of doing it, but I'm sure it's not far off.
  15. Well, regardless of such a feature in the future or not; You are still a genious, and I just have to stand behind the rest of community in the praise of PC and the legend behind the wonder. I still keep saying to myself "how on Earth have no VR HMD producer done this yet, rather than those clumsy things they push out". Keep it up, you’re doing some amazing work that is awesome to watch happening!
  16. Yeah sure, as stated in my initial post - not expecting it to be possible, and even if it was, I wouldn't expect Miles to go through that hurdle to make it happen, haha. PointCtrl looks amazing, and I have been a fan and buyer since the first time I saw it, and I keep telling myself everytime I fly that jeeeeez, am I looking forward to getting those and let go of this mouse. :) As the others have said; Can't wait to see videos with it used by others, as well as getting to try it myself once it arrives and I've got hold of some VR gadget. All creds to Miles for this one!
  17. Yep, FCS in the Hornet is the first instance I can think of, but it would be nice to be able to use two hands on the UFC to type quicker, or one on the UFC and the other cycling through OSBs, say for example when setting up profiles in the A-10C. Or configure gears, lights, flaps etc whilst at the same time configuring the radio and TACAN on the approach. Yeah you guessed it, I'm good at using both hands for multitasking. That said, I was expecting this not to be possible due to the regular mouse interface in DCS, but one can only hope of this changing in the future! Thanks anyway Dino, much appreciated that you share your inputs.
  18. I cannot contribute to solving the issue, but I can confirm I see the same issue. I do also have the controls synchronised.
  19. Hi Miles, This is a long shot, and I believe it is not possible as of yet (please correct me if I’m wrong): Would it be possible in the future to add two pointers so as to use both hands simultaneously on two buttons/knobs in cockpit? I.e. let go of the HOTAS and quickly tune two things at once in the cockpit?
  20. Again, thanks everyone for all the feedback and inputs, please do know that I truly appreciate it all, I really do! Can’t wait to improve the skills on this beauty, as much as it is a beast sometimes (especially without headtracking, but that’s a different chapter...).
  21. Hi Legend, Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! Same to you Ace. Sounds like I am for sure doing it wrong re landing weight. Are there any charts available to look at such weight, NATOPS maybe?
  22. Hi Ace, Thanks for your reply! I took off with 44k lbs TOW, did three laps with minimum MAX power and very short distance from the boat, so I would say I did not burn enough to end up under 33k lbs total weight when trying to land. I did not check this (I guess this is one of my procedural errors), so I will check that alter again. Would you recommend to dump fuel to get under 33k?
  23. Hi again, For some reason I can’t reproduce this issue. I will save down the track and upload if I happen to come across the issue again on one of my flights, but for the time being I have nothing for you I’m afraid.
