  1. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=187&min=24&orderby=titleA&show=12#cat Might be more on the site but that's the only one I could find.
  2. I'm not familiar with all of the poles, I've heard of the E, F, and now A-Poles but I have never seen them in a diagram so I have no idea how they are performed except the F-Pole and I learned that one from Ironhands training vids. I've looked through the manual and can't find anything like that except the tactical break-off (F-Pole). If you could direct me to some kind of diagram or reading material on the poles, that would be most helpful.
  3. But I cannot for the life of me find it again. I remember catching a link to a video on Google videos of a full on flight combat class, probably made in the late 80's. I can't remember the name but it was an excellent video going through all of the tactics for engagements and came in at about an hour or so long. All I can remember is the instructor had model planes on sticks and was in a full on flight suit...oh, and he had a mustache, won't soon forget that mustache. Any help greatly appreciated, I already searched Google vids with the typical terms (flight combat training, BFM training, air combat training). This would be a jewel to find again! Cheers for the help!
  4. I rarely break my lock in my engagements, the first missile is just fired from too far out and can be shaken pretty easily. Check the track file to see my engagements, they almost always follow the same method. Didn't know about turning on and off the ECM, usually I just hit it on when the first missile is headed my way and rarely turn it off until I'm headed back to base. I know at close range I have to break the seeker instead of the radar, this is usually when I lose the engagement.
  5. Here's a track of one of the better engagements, gets a bit hectic when we close in on each other. http://rapidshare.com/files/246364892/F-15_v_Mig-29.trk.html
  6. I think I'm confused on the use of the chaff, I do drop chaff when the missile closes in on me but I think I drop it too early. I maintain lock through the entire engagement (or at least try too, sometimes my F-pole throws the lock). I barrel but usually the missile isn't even close to me I just roll to get a bead on the bandit without throwing my visual off. Just flew one up and managed to evade the second missile by F-pulling and rolling out of it, however, this is just hit and miss and doesn't work constantly.
  7. I'm doing 1v1 BVR, F-15 (me) versus a Mig-29 (AI). I'm yet to get into an engagement where I don't have to pull defensive tactics, regardless whether I engage first or they engage first there is just no way for me not to get engaged in BVR especially against the Mig. Almost all of the tactics I use are not last ditch evasive maneuvers. The engagement goes about like this: Starts out at 50km out from each other, me in the F-15 and AI in the Mig-29. I start out by getting the altitude advantage, we both catch lock about the same time in BVR. At about 25-30km out the Mig fires, I don't have launch authorization at this time. As soon as the missile closes into visual range I drop the external fuel tanks, fire one AIM-120 and begin my F-pole to the right. I evade the first missile with ease, my missile is about 5km out from target but it probably won't hit. As soon as I gain in at about 7km from the bandit I fire my second AIM-120, he fires his second R-77...now is where it is hit and miss, I dive to the floor and sometimes the missile flys overhead or it will dive and catch me. Second AIM-120 hits more often than not, but my plane already crashed. I've tried doing another F-pole on the second missile but that gets me hit every time, so with diving I have a better success rate than with doing a F-pole. The second missile is always within visual range.
  8. I've gone through my engagements with Tacview, I'm doing everything right...the missile just will not lose me at all, regardless of what I do. It's really making no sense cause I am doing the same thing I did when I was doing engagements a couple of months ago. That's what is confusing to me.
  9. Absolutely no air to air tactic works at all, I get shot down anyway regardless of how many flippy things I do in the air. F-pole used to work until I started trying to employ the other rather useless tactics (yo-yo, barrel roll, etc.)...and now not even the F-pole can evade the missiles, even with the missile difficult set at 50 (which is what I had it set at until I started trying the other useless tactics, then I changed it to 100, oh yeah, that's fun). So aside from the F-pole being my last visage at evading a missile because I either can't do the other evasion tactics, or they simply do not work...I'm left with fly, shoot, miss, get hit by the missile that flew behind you about a minute ago (according to the planes clock, you know? When you turn back into it?)...not quite sure here, but I think that is impossible.
  10. Good to see continued support for this game, a very rare thing in PC gaming anymore.
  11. Well yea, not your problem. But I know when Gold came out it was plagued with a few different issues that pretty much made the game unplayable. You've reinstalled from Lock On-patched fully-Lock On FC-patched fully-you're starting the game with the Lock On FC shortcut and the game crashes. Any error? Code? Is your joystick set up properly? Everything up to date? Try configuring your joystick through the game if you are doing it with the program provided by Saitek, and vice versa if you are using the game to program it. See where that goes.
  12. Personally I would buy them seperate, Gold had a lot of issues if I recall correctly.
  13. This may sound rude, I don't mean it to be though...are you starting Lock On Flaming Cliffs, or just Lock On? LOMAC won't work on Vista, Flaming Cliffs should (I don't have the Gold version so I don't know if they install seperately like it did with the download version).
