  1. Hi Lads I am at the beginning of the learning curve :smartass:... For the moment, I can see 3 options how to learn this sim: a) Doing the training missions b) Reading the whole manual first (as suggested somehow in the familiarization lesson) c) Do some flights with the "short" manual and try to learn step by step the basics I tend to lean to c) as the training missions don't help me that much - too fast, to much acronyms, just push this, click that but I don't understand why. Reading the whole book first would break my neck :D How did you actually learned it? I'm curious to know your way of climing the hill! Cheers Merlin
  2. Guys - you really really helped me a lot!! Thanks a lot. I did not consider: a) To "calibrate" the stick prior starting (moving all axis to full extend) b) The T/O Button to be pushed (since I do not start cold&dark) Thanks again - will try this! Cheers! Merlin
  3. No need for sarcasm Nikola - I know what trim is. Maybe I should have mentioned that in my case, the plane was dramatically veering to the right strait from taking of. Also - trimming in FSX is mostly used to control pitch - not that much for roll. But thanks for the comment anyway. Merlin
  4. Yep - it was the trimming :-) Thanks a lot - sorry - I was silly enough to believe I could just hop in and make the first training ride without studying the manual... Well, now one hurdle less
  5. Thanks - but it's strange that this happens when you take the training mission "Take Off" where they do not tell you this. You think it's even then? Because if it is also experienced during this checkride, then there you go. Then it probably the trim!
  6. Hi Guys I use the Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Stick which works well with FSX so far. But with the A10 the plane veers to the right slightly into a downward spiral. What could you recommend? Thanks a lot for your kind reply! Merlin
  7. Thanks for your kind messages! Thanks folks! This is what I can currently report: a) Regarding the mouse-look in the cockpit: Did not found any conflicts in the BS-Configuration (if I recall propperly from the manual, they should appear as "Red Lines" in the configuration. I don't have such red lines and I also can save without getting a message regarding conflicts or so. Thus I assume for the moment that I don't have them. Am I right that this "looking/clicking" around with the mouse should work anyway without binding it to some commands, right? Because maybe I deleted/lost something here... Do you know something about this? b) Regarding the Center-Spring-Issue This is funny. I went several times into the driver panel of the stick and I can see those sliders (they're in German but I assume that we are speaking of the last slider that I shall set to 0% and that I have to uncheck the checkbox right below that slider. Did that - believe it or not. Every time I do this and confirm with OK it will go back to 100% and the checkbox is checked again . I somehow *feel* that this would help, but "it" won't let me do this setting. Have you had this same problem? --> I saw your input regarding the manual blocking of the center spring... Allow me to not do this for the moment - in order applications I might need it and I think that it should not be the way we have to cope with that issue - but hey, maybe it'll be the last resort... BTW: De-Installed the Saitek-Program-Thingie (not the driver, the other software that let's you program on top. Kinda feels dumb to have that on my machine when I don't even manage the bloody basics :P. Any comments on that phenomenon are - as usual - really welcome. P.S.: Got the message - there is no real FF in BS... It's a bit sad - I was so looking forward to get my right hand shaked (what a change :smilewink: hehehe...). I tried with FSX and by sheer luck I took the Ultralight on a dust track and, well..., what a rumble... It is adding to the immersion - sadly not for BS  Cheers, Merlin
  8. Hello This is partly a double-post and I'm sorry for that but there is a reason for that (first post got merged into a main topic which does not really fits to my question, thus I'd like to ask again. I hope someone can help - I'm really lost. Here we go: 1) Mouseview Before changing to another flight stick (Evo Force) I was able to pan around in the cockpit with my mouse. Middle-Mouse-Button was zooming and I was able to click the buttons. Sometimes this did not work but it seems to be a reported bug. But now, I don't have that feature anymore? Can you tell me what I have to do in order to get that useful feature back? 2) Trimming with Saitek Evo Force First: I learned how to trim with my old non-ff stick and it worked well! Now, with the Evo I can't trim anymore. Whatever I do, after releasing the Trim-Button, the helo would pitch up and the stick returns into center position. From what I have seen, the stick should stay (more or less) in the position it was after releasing the trim-button. Mine springs back into neutral position. I have FF = True in the producer.cfg and I have put the Center-Spring-Option to 0% in the Driver. Another Setting in the driver is put to 38%, the rest is on 100%. So I can't trim anymore. Do you know about this and can you help? 3) FF in general Can someone tell me which actions are causing a rumble in BS? My new stick works well in e.g. FSX and also in Driver-Test-Mode the stick is giving good feedback. I have no idea if FF works in BS for me as I never got any feedback. When I roll on the tarmac: No FF When I fly and trim: No FF (and trim doesn't work anyway) When I shoot the cannon: No FF. Do you know which action gives 100% FF so that I can test that? I have seen the FF Setting Button in the control setup screen but don't know exactly if/what I should do there - the manual is (for me) not that clear... @MOD: Please don't merge this post again with the large Trim-Post as no-one will read and it takes a lot of time to type that. Please give that Post a bit time - maybe someone can help  Your answers are - rest assured - very welcome! Cheers Merlin
  9. Hi Sharkster64 Almost of the same age, huh :-)?? Thanks for your kind reply! I went to the game settings and found the 4 lines that represent "Up/Down/Left/Right" and clicked on FF Setting-Button. There is a little pop-up coming with two boxes (one with 100, one with 50) and a little check-box "Invert". I'm translating here from german, so I might be unprecise. Di you mean this? Or did you mean the Axis-Button? This one is present as well but seems to be "dead" all the time. God I'm really lost here :-)) edit: This is a problem because now with that ff-stick I can't trim anymore (with my old non-ff-stick I could perfectly trim - I used to hit "T", then let go the stick quickly and all was OK). I tried the same procedure with my ff-stick but whatever I do - it does not trim and thus when I release the chopper pitches way back up... Thanks for any help! Cheers MerlinCH65
  10. Trimming with FF and other questions Dear Friends I just bought the Saitek Evo Force stick - before I had a non-ff stick. FF works when I test in the gamecontroller settings. So far, so good (I almost knocked my self with the stick while testing :megalol:)... Also I have to say that I am a complete noob when it comes to ff - please be kind when answering my stupid questions: 1) Question How do I trim with a non-ff stick? I know how to do it with non-ff and IT WORKS! I can fly (yipeeayeh ) But when I trim with the new stick, it won't work. After reading up the forums I have set the center-spring to 0% and another setting to 38% (can't remember what) and the rest stays on 100%. When I trim, the stick does not stay where it it should be - it pops back to center and thus the helo pitches up. What am I doing wrong? 2) Question Do I have to do something in order to have ff work? I checked the producer.cfg and there it is set to true. But I don't know which action in the game should give me a "rumble". Yet I have not had any rumble at all ... Also the stick itself is very "whobbly" (can't really explain) while I fly. I feel nothing that is like ff at all when I push the stick forth/back/left/right (should I feel anything here). I also have to say that I haven't changed anything in the game settings regarding ff. I have seen that button in the control setting panel (bottom right FF Settings...) I did not touch that one. I assumed that "it would work by itself". Am I wrong here? Again - I'm very annoyed to ask those stupid questions but alas - I am new in the world of ff... Thank you ever so much for your kind replys! Cheers, Merlin
  11. First of all: Many thanks for your kind answers! It's therefore either Cyborg X or Logi Extreme 3D Pro! I currently have the Logi Wingman Extreme and also a logi Gamepad. Both give me some troubles with the drivers (I think). I always have to re-calibrate my joystick almost everytime I fly FSX or BS or it goes wild (over-sensitive). The gamepad always had a left-tendency nevertheless how I calibrated it. This and the real tiny throttle-lever were pointing for me towards Cyborg X... And Saitek really is a good name, no? (OK, I'm Swiss - I should by Logi I know :-) If anyone has anything to ad in favour of one of the two, please shoot - I'm not buying before Saturday - we still have all options open! Thanks again dear friends, Merlin
  12. Dear Friends I would like to change to a new joystick. Unfortunately I cannot afford an X52 or so, I have to stay a bit lower pricewise speaking. I am currently looking at Saitek Cyborg X. What do you think? Can you recommend? Or have you another idea? We should stay within around 60 - 70 USD if possible. Thanks for your ever so helpful input! Cheers Merlin
  13. Hi Nate! Thanks! That's what I was expecting to hear ;) btw: It's funny how difficult it is to explain such a problem :smartass: I'm currently trying to get the bird into steady hover after approaching. Most of the time the helo is trying to shift right or left - I read a lot of postings about this - funny is that there are many different opinions and for a noob it's quite difficult to pick the correct instruction :megalol: Thanks again! Cheers, Merlin
  14. @slug88 What I mean is: I use the mouse to look around in the cockpit and to click some buttons (in fact I click m.a.n.y buttons ). Normally, I move the mouse and this makes me PAN around in the cockpit and while I pan, I can also click buttons. This behaviour would be just fine for me, if it would stay that way. Unfortunately, it happens very often that my mouse can only move the crosshair around - but it would NOT pan around in the cockpit. The view sort of freezes and I have to hit ESC 2x and everything is back to normal. Cheers Merlin
  15. Thanks Glottis Just tried it out :-) One more button-combo to remind LOL I sure hope they fix that cause it's quite annoying and - at least for me - it happens ever so often... Thanks again! Merlin
  16. Friends, May I ask u one question: Viewing in Cockpit with mouse Since I don't have TrackIR, I am viewing around with the mouse during flight. Unfortunately, the mouse often does not respond - I have to hit ESC twice and everything is back normal. Is it designed to be like this? I don't think so - any ideas? Thx for your kind inputs lads Merlin
  17. I bought it :-)) Friends :D I just bought it today and started with some training missions! Thanks again for all of your kind posts - it actually made me buy it as I'm sure I'll need a good community and here - well - we have one, no? Will d/l the checklist and start learning the buttons. Put the sim on sim-mode (as it was intended to be flown) - what a good flight model!! @Stalker: Never mind - got your message without any probs ;) Thanks again and happy flying... Cheers Merlin
  18. Dear 192nd Erdem Thanks a lot for your statement! That helps a lot! I will then try without it - I might bind the coolie hat for head movement? We'll see... Thanks again! Cheers Merlin
  19. Dear Posters! Thanks a lot already for your first reply's! One thing I would like to check with you: If I don't have TrackIR (it's quite a laydown :-), do you think I could still fly? I fly FSX and other sim's without, but with BS it could be different... Do you all use TrackIR? Does someone uses Freetrack? Cause I do have a webcam and getting some IR LED's should not be such of a deal? What do you think lads? Cheers, Merlin
  20. Dear Friends This is my first post here, so "Hello Everybody" ;) I have an important questions to you - your answer will be decisive regarding the purchase of Black Shark for me :pilotfly: Since this is a very complex simulation, is it true that for beginners there are some help-functions to ease the steep learning curve? I have seen that e.g. the start-up procedure can be "skipped" by pressing 2 buttons or so. It's not that I don't like pressing 51 buttons, but it could become a little bit "annoying" at times. Hence I wondered if it is possible to engage some "automatisms" at the beginnning in order not to have to learn everything from the very beginning... Can you confirm this? Thanks for your kind reply! Cheeers, Merlin
