  1. Kudos to Eagle Dynamics for paying attention to these details. It'll be interesting to land on 24 at Anderson in rough weather. Also, the overall detail in this map is outstanding. Well done.
  2. I have never paid attention to this white diamond, but it appears to be related to the SPI broadcast of your wingman. From what I have observed it will show up briefly if he designates a new SPI location, and then be replaced a few seconds later by the two-tier wedding cake. Still unsure about it though, I haven't found anything about it in the manual either.
  3. Hello there, DCS World leans more towards a sandbox environment, and as such there is no "ladder of success" other than the process of learning to fly and fight in one or more aircraft. I think what you are referring to is the logbook feature, which records your flight hours and other statistics. However the logbook is inconsequential because it doesn't log your multiplayer hours, and doesn't effect your virtual piloting in any meaningful way. You'll be promoted within the logbook as you gain more experience, but again, it's really just for gazing. Nevertheless I do enjoy looking at my singleplayer statistics every now and then.
  4. I appreciate getting community feedback, However you lads should just stick with the facts and model things accurately. No HARMs or Mavericks for those stations.
  5. "Unplayable" is a subjective term. I am running on high settings with older hardware on a 3440x1440 monitor with a reasonably smooth experience. What doesn't work for one person works for the next.
  6. Hi, On my computer the Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\Syria folder is 47.1 gigabytes.
  7. Hey everyone, The X56 is sold. Thank you all for your interest.
  8. Hello there, Yes, it's currently still for sale. However, I am in discussion with one potential buyer. Will update if anything changes. Thanks.
  9. It sounds like you are experiencing a tutorial glitch. If you can learn to land via other means however, that is great. Should be fine to post more questions here.
  10. Hi there, It's been a while, but I ran through the landing mission a couple times to see if it hangs up for me. The first time I set the aircraft as required and immediately after turning off the gunsight gyro it advanced me to the next step. The second time I tried keeping the RPM under 2700, and in this condition it did not advance, as expected. So everything is working normally for me in the latest version of OpenBeta. When it hangs up for you, do you see the yellow control prompts in the cockpit, or do they disappear? If the prompts are still visible chances are your aircraft isn't quite set within parameters. Although if you have the gyro off and the RPM set I can't imagine what the problem could be.
  11. I first laid eyes on DCS while it was running on a friend's computer. For some reason he had decided to leave the Frogfoot on autopilot, and there it was, flying over the hills of Georgia. I've never been much of a gamer, but my interest was piqued. I got into it in 2017. For me DCS was the first taste of flight, and it has sparked a broader interest in aviation. I've always liked military history, but never considered looking into combat flight simulation. And no, before I saw it running, I had never heard of Digital Combat Simulator. Now I only wish I had discovered it three or four years sooner. I've invested heavily and plan to explore the virtual skies for years to come.
  12. Hi Mower, I upgraded to a standard Thrustmaster Warthog. There is a pretty big difference in quality, but nevertheless I thought the X56 was decent. The biggest gripe I had with it was that the ergonomics of the stick were sub-par. I liked the throttle though, with it's many axis and controls. Overall it was a good experience. Also, I think I've priced this kit a little steep so I'm dropping the price to $300 USD + shipping. Thanks.
  13. Thanks. Unfortunately I will have to wait for some reason, but eventually it should work.
  14. So far I have not found out how to do this. Any tips would be appreciated.
  15. I have a similar issue, with the quotation marks having been removed from my nickname, resulting in a long, somewhat messy handle. Not sure what is to be done about it though; I don't want to bother Groove about changing it again.
  16. Hi Lee. I have one of the cheaper 34" ultra-wide monitors on the market, the MSI Optix MAG341CQ: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG341CQ It's a fairly basic VA panel with the 3440x1440 resolution and a refresh rate of 100hz. One thing to note is that it has no internal speakers and the base does not allow for much adjustment. That being said, I love this monitor and have had zero issues with it. I run mostly high settings in DCS with a 1070ti. Frame rates are less than stellar, especially in places like Syria. However 35 - 40fps works for me. If you're looking for a reasonably priced ultra-wide, this might be one to consider.
  17. Here is my perspective on the F-16: When I pre-ordered this plane it was in surprise. I was surprised by how quickly they announced it, considering the lengthy development time it took to get the Hornet into Early Access. I was equally surprised when they released the Falcon last October. I expected little to be complete at launch, and I wasn't too far off on that. ;) The Falcon is my fighter. The only F-series aircraft I own or will ever own in this simulation. And it's my future aircraft. I'm having an excellent time with deep study on the A-10C, and with the A-10C II update out, the attack jet life just gets better. I'm not touching the Falcon until it's complete enough that I can study it with confidence, knowing that major systems won't change from update to update. Until then, I won't expect to use it for anything serious. That being said, I've had a lot of fun with the Viper already and have zero problems with its development cycle so far. As far as I'm concerned, the Hornet boys should get their toys first. I can wait. Again, just my opinion. :joystick:
  18. Hello all, Considering the current joystick shortage, I thought it might benefit someone to put my used X56 up for sale. I've had it for a little under a year and a half, and was my daily driver for about six months before I upgraded. It now sits on my shelf, collecting dust. (Don't worry, I'll wipe it off) The right buyer will be based in North America. I am in southern Manitoba and would prefer a Canadian purchaser. The stick and throttle are in good working condition and will include the original packaging. After browsing Ebay for similar products, I will list it here for $350 USD plus shipping. I am open to offers as long as they are reasonable. To contact me, you can either PM me here on the forums, email me at stalkermitchell@protonmail.com, or hit me up in the Eagle Dynamics Discord server. My Discord name is Stalker#0441. I have attached some images of the unit below. Thanks.
  19. I use the friction adjustment axis as well. Although I have to take my hands off the throttle to reach it, I find that it works fine. Because I fly the A-10 in the sim, most of my controls are mapped 1 to 1, so I don't have spare buttons.
  20. An interview from Wags is always a treat. It's a great opportunity to get a glimpse behind the scenes at Eagle Dynamics and appreciate what actually goes into the making of DCS World. There were some excellent questions asked and answered. Thanks to the guys at the Air Combat Sim Podcast and to Wags for the interview!
  21. Yesterday I bought A-10C II, totally forgetting the fact that I had entered in this contest. Nice screenshots everyone! :joystick:
