  1. Thanks all who've replied to help me above. I have had a little progress today. Funnily enough I ended up taking my curves right down, and have had a few successful plug-ins and even got a full bag, though the S3 in a turn still eludes me I'll keep on it. Still very annoying given how little time I have for hobbies to have to "waste" so much effort just to get me back to near where I was before, instead of learning a new system or AC. No pleasing some people is there lol!
  2. I've invested many hours/days trying to re-learn AAR in this module after the update and I'm going to give up soon. Maybe it was mickey mouse before but it was still a challenge to master and after a while I could do it with my eyes closed. Just can't get it now, tried every curve setting (TM Warthog) but always get PIO and overcorrecting even using only thumb and forefinger at top of stick. No improvement whatsoever. I'm in awe of you guys who can just nail it now after 10 minutes of retraining on the new model. Shame as aar was one of my favourite DCS pastimes.
  3. I've just updated DCS, but for some reason it will no longer open DCS with VR ON (open XR, WMR) anymore - just opens it in screen mode. I can only run it in VR from the desktop icon. I did note sometimes before thje update the first time I would try to run VR from the updater it would open flatscreen, then the second attempt would work. Now it never plays. Any ideas? Thanks
  4. EDIT: That was it. I use F-Secure and although I'd already whitelisted the DCS.exe in the Bin folder (having been running it from the Bin-MT folder for months) I had to whitelist the DCS.exe in that folder as well for this update. Strange, but at least it runs now so thanks
  5. At no point does it look like anything opens. Tried Repair, then Clean (deleting all extra files) Log attached dcs.log
  6. I just did the update too, and now have same issue, DCS will not start. No error given.
  7. Thank god for that! I thought I was going insane. At least I know it's not me. Do you also know why, having requested wingmen to attack groups 1 and 2 but they fail to take out all 3 units in each group it is impossible to ask them to repeat the attack? Well, you can ask, but it says not possible. I'll have another look at mission 3 and get back to you. Thanks for looking into it.
  8. I'm about to call it a day on this campaign now. Must have tried mission 3 30 times (reported the odd behaviour but Eagle86 can't reproduce it) and now I'm declaring this mission unwinnable. Tried exactly what MrYeti describes above, as well as trying to take them out myself (not enough time with Laser bombs sequentialy and IR mavs will ALWAYS have you shot down by a SAMby the time you get a lock. Any combination of me ordering my wingmen together or separately to attack the sabotage groups will leave something not destroyed, and once I have ordered them once to attack one group or another any further attempt tells me they are unable to complete the task, then in a ridiculously short time period surviving unit miraculously is able to spawn next to it and "plant charges on the bridge" even though TGP shows no target near the bridge, which 30 seconds later becomes bridge blown game over. Arghhhh!

Glad I found this thread, I’ve invested days trying to get IR mavs to work reliably and predictably, but as the op says, on handover from Tpod, the (admittedly tiny) Ir signature of the target will be there under an open Mav targeting cross with no lock. SS fwd to designate IRMV then TDC down will cause the mav to fly off and lock onto something literally miles away in any direction, and the tiniest of attempted movement of the TDC will cause such a huge movement of the Mav targeting box it’s nigh on impossible to control. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and I’ll get a lock at ridiculously short range but by then I’m dead from a stinger or the rather deadly accurate fire from a BMP! I honestly cannot believe this weapon system is functioning as designed, although to be fair my AI wingmen can lock & rifle at far greater ranges than me!

Current OpenBeta (after skipping takeoff as it is the only way to get my wingmen off the Tarawa) this has happened 3 times in a row now, WP1 I destroy the APC, then when instructed to engage the infantry on the ground, making sure I have waited for all the instructions to finish, I instruct Wingman 1 to attack the infantry via the F10 menu (I want to save my Jdams for the armoured targets at the other WPs), he destroys them successfully and I get the above error.
  11. Thanks for that. Unfortunately my issue is reading the screen in-cockpit. Unfortunately I'm yet to find a solution. My workaround is the only mode where I can see anything is FLIR with BHOT. Everything else is just a dark screen even after playing with the new brightness/contrast defaults
  12. Oh I wasn't aware of that, thanks I will have a look. I did a repair yesterday to fix a separate problem with no comms menu!
  13. Not sure when it happened as I've been away from DCS for a few years. Day mode, the BRT settings are turned up to max, the legends on the screen get bright but there is so little contrast on the actual screens they are almost pitch black (green) and you can't see anything - eg can just about make out a ship when close enough. Any ideas?
  14. Sorry for the total noob question (anybody?) but having just installed the latest version I cannot for the life of me see where I tell it where my build path is? It has to be obvious but i can't see it. Any pointer appreciated!
  15. After the rescue, the in game prompts you to tune marshal &spacebar to RTB. Tried the updated freq on the kneeboard (put 144.00 in M) but nothing happened on either box. Tried the originals and still no joy. Tried using DCS in-game ATC but no response either. Also Mother's TCN though giving a range and steerpoint on HUD shows nothing on the HSI. Fortunately was able to gash it on with no comms but shame to end a nice easy mission like that!
  16. How fantastic that I accidentally stumbled onto this thread (via the YT vid you referenced with the emoji!) , as I'd never heard of this OpenXR before. Followed the instructions to the letter.. well, I haven't got around to downloading the toolkit yet in the final stage as I did what I was told and checked everything worked. Instructions were perfect except couldn't find the Direct3D dll file thing anywhere which soaked up a fair bit of time before I realised it didn't matter, but once I ran it up WOW loading time much faster, way less juttering, butter smooth in game etc. 2080ti Ryzen 7 3800 64gb Reverb G1. Thanks for putting this together!

  18. Please, and this is what normally makes me give up on these types of things, can we have more specific objectives? So far I'm still trying to finish mission 1. All it needs are some satellite photos or better descriptions, for example "airfield entrance"... it took me ages to find where that was just by eventually stumbling on a tank in my TGP not by being able to logically work out where to look. Secondly, these "garages" are doing my head in! Please, can you tell me where/what they are? I have tried flattening various buildings, and once even got a "hanger 1 destroyed" message (hanger, not garage) so some help would be really appreciated. If this is the gentle starter mission I'm in trouble if the objectives are similar. (Note, although I could ask wingy to take out one of the tanks, I can't ask him to take out a garage... that might have shown me what I was looking for? Thanks for any help

  23. I’m about to upgrade cpu so I will need to go through this process, can anyone tell me how to do the deactivation? When I search most of the results are from many years ago so want to make sure I’ve got the latest info. Anyone able to help? Thanks in advance

  25. Yes definitely, plus it also sometimes seems to "partially" lose tracking while in game; I can look around and up and down but cannot move my head/body forward/back or left/right. When this happens and I go to Oculus home I find the touch controllers are effectively glued to the surface. I don't think it is hardware, as I have had it on previous firmware versions, which have then been fixed but introduced others, like not detecting my displayport connection unless I remove and replace it etc. I hope they stabilise this soon, as for my setup at least it's not dependable for long periods of playtime.
