  2. Yeah, that pesky "no proper communication" call usually comes from not following proper procedure. I'm not familiar with Banklers but I'm pretty sure if you do not follow procedure from start to finish (proper comms and actually following the LSO) the same results will keep presenting themselves. All the little parts matter, even the AOA indexer lights! Upon ball acquisition, you should be focused on meatball, lineup, AOA! Touch and go's instead of LShift R would be more instrumental in getting you what you want, that's if you are trying to fly the correct pattern and approach.
  3. The Lens or "meatball" is not meant to give the Pilot lineup information, only glideslope. The ICLS needles are nice to have as a reference but really not needed except for CASE II and III. Personally, I use the needles all the time because, why not?! Everything is a checkpoint. ABEAM the LSO platform 1.5 nm, start your turn. As you cross the wake, your RADALT goes off around 490ft, this an indicator of where you are. On a straight-in approach, since that would put you into the CASE II or III block, then of course use the needles until ball acquisition. Just curious though, how do you admit that you are doing your traps wrong but claim that you do not listen to the LSO in the first place? Seems you have to bridge that gap somehow. The LSO is mostly right, (except for the Tomcat) mostly! I find that if the approach is good, he won't say anything! I've never used Banklers as it seemed like a crutch to me.
  4. Not to be that guy but refueling in the Tomcat is not that difficult. Trim it out, set the wings to "bomb" or not and go at it. The Hornet is easier because of the Flight Controls but it's still the same song and dance. And I must admit, while performing AAR in a turn is a bit attention holding, the challenge is where it's at! AAR is basically flying form! I keep seeing these post on AAR and about how difficult it is...makes me wonder. Congratulations on making it work though!

    Hook-up

Are there any plans for the LSO to recognize and distinguish touch and go's from true bolters? Currently, you get a BIW grade for performing a hook up pass as if you missed a wire. Not sure if anyone else has this issue.
  6. Been feeling the same way...just didn't want to rock the boat (no pun intended)!
  7. https://forum.dcs.world/tags/rate of descent too fast/ FYI, the aircraft is supposed to remain dirty on the bolter!
  8. Hello, I use a Win Wing F/A-18 setup. The Super Taurus setup with the stick centered between my legs. From what I've read and what I use is zero curves. The saturation can go all the way to 100. I have played with a little negative curve, but it makes the FM to twitchy or it feels mushy, so I went back to zero. From some of the forum post that I've read, curves are needed mostly for those that have the desk top type of sticks.
  9. Not entirely true. On-speed can be held in the turn, it just has to be managed properly.
  10. From what I understand ED already consults with real Hornet drivers, the SME's! I'm thinking some of the trim problems are the byproduct of bad technique combined with a new way of doing business.
  11. The WOD should be right down the angle. Something is not jibing if you have a crosswind so strong it breaks your gear.
  12. For me, it is almost like when the Tomcat got it's "bounciness." It didn't feel like the magnet effect that I'd felt previously. Seemed like a nice and violent trap. IMHO, good job ED!
  13. Planted one onboard TR after downloading. Got an OK 4 followed by an OK 3. I'm liking it!
  14. Yes please! Love your works.
