    RPG vs. Helos

I think that he was probably referring to the recent developments in drone technology/AI. Eventually you could have large UAV helicopter drones carrying the same firing solutions and perform a similar job than combat helicopters without having to risk pilot's lives and spend the money to train them. This said, you can potentially jam drones, not a pilot's brain so we will see.
  2. Ideally, I would say any map that has been the theater of conflicts between airforces since the cold war until recently (historical), or maps of regions where it is not unreasonable to believe that there could be a conflict in the future( what if scenarios). So considering we already have Egypt/Israel/Syria, I would say Vietnam, Iraq, Korea, India/Pakistan, South Africa/Namibia, Yugoslavia, Turkey/Greece, Armenia/Azerbaidjan, South China sea/Taiwan. I may have forgotten some. However it is just my opinion but I would favour the ones that would meet the following criteria : 1) the map that would make use of the most of existing and confirmed aircrafts in development for DCS. 2) a map with elevation (mountains, hills) for "gameplay" reasons (more interesting, gives more chances to less capable aircrafts) instead of "another desert map" with lots of flat terrain 3) preferaby landscapes that look more different/exotic compared to what we already have. So for me I think that Vietnam would be my pick all things considered. Not sure how smooth the performances would be with so many trees, but if this difficulty can be overcome, I think it would be a great addition in my view, especially since I find cold war aircrafts more interesting to fly in general.

    RPG vs. Helos

I agree with you, however there is a system called BKO President-S that is designed to give more protection against manpads threats. Future evolutions of such a system could perhaps prolong the use of helicopters as frontline gunship units.

    A new love

Not that it will add anything to the discussion or that I have any hope for it since the devs said no, but I am also of the opinion that a Mirage 2000-5 would have been a fantastic addition. To me it meant I would actually fly the Mirage again... Just my feedback/opinion as a buyer since that is the purpose of a forum. I own the current module, it is no doubt pleasant to fly but I never use it anymore because once you complete the offline campaign, it is close to being my last choice online since it is too old for all the modern servers due to carrying only 4 missiles/2 fox1, whilst too new for cold war servers where it is usually not flyable and not particularly useful for air-to-ground either compared to alternatives. I just fly it if I really want a challenge, usually sneaking in the mountains though I get more satisfaction doing that with even older a/c (ie: mig21 ) but that's just me. From my point of view, it would definitely add value since it would suddenly become a lot more popular. Isn't the point of adding value to make it more in demand and more used? Would become more interesting to play offline too due to being more competitive against the existing modules which opens the possibility for more scenarios. With most modules in DCS, we often get some of the more capable versions instead of the early/worst ones. If ED would have released F/A18A from pre-1987 or F16A, no doubt that many people would request a more sophisticated version with the better radar and fox3s.
  5. I doubt it because the devs have expressed in the past that they would love to make a HF Mig-29 and some preliminary work was probably done on it. I didn't see an official statement stating that they would never do it, did you ? Maybe there is still some hope for an exported version ? Personally, I will support the company by buying some maps (and perhaps 1-2 more existing modules I lack) but I am not interested in more modern blue side modules anymore, so I have high expectations for the Mig-23. Hopefully by then (next year early access ?), prospects for a HF 29 will be brighter. I would buy new cold war planes like Drakken, Kfir, or Panavia Tornado but I regret like you that almost all announced future projects are blue side planes. However if it is legal reasons blocking the devs, there is not much we can do. They probably do prioritize pleasing the western audience for commercial reasons (like a certain other sim who went for other theatres instead of finishing the one they were supposed to fully represent) but on the other hand, the Mig-29 would certainly sell very well, maybe not as much as the F15 SE or F16 but would still make decent sales figures in my opinion.
  6. Mig23 and the Mirage F1 is guaranteed buy for me. Hopefully we will able to fly the Mig23 in 2022, cannot wait. We really need more Soviet aircrafts high fidelity, my wet dream is Mig31 (OMG if only.. even a Mig25 would be so awesome) and Mig29 high fidelity but i'll settle for a Mig23 on the short term , best of luck in your work
  7. Indeed you are right, it is very likely that it is linked to this (server was probably in late afternoon, i dont remember exactly) and perhaps also due to lag on that particular server i was on because lately i gave it another try and i didn't have this issue
  8. Well we still have the issue on the Georgia at War server. It seems like the HAWK Sam system when deployed by a helicopter ( CTLD ) do not really work for some reasons. Maybe it is a server issue? but it would be nice to know for sure what exactly is the cause.
  9. That is for me really a fantastic news to learn that you are still working on the Mig21, I really hope that we will see an update of it, I would pay for that like i paid for the A10CII or the BlackShark update. Please make it happen, this module is really special in many ways and thank you for sharing this info.
  10. Same issue but with Mi8 as i only flew that so far, since this new patch now i crashed three times in a row after some time in GAW. I was almost never crashing before. I did all the usual stuff, delete fxo, metashaders and reset the shaders in AMD control panel, but something is very wrong for me with this patch on open beta, i need to go back to stable.
  11. I have the same issue with Petrovic being blind, cannot find targets even though i can see them myself very obviously within range parameters, it is really random, sometimes he sees them if i am dangerously high, but if i am below 500meters i have serious problems, lately i could not lock anything so i made a test flew on purpose to commit suicide on it and he couldnt see the target until the last moment as i crashed into it online, his aiming cross on the hud was always right on the target but he refused to see it. Right now it means i cannot fly the Hind online until i figure out if it is my mistake ( maybe i damaged the gyros? but i made sure i didnt so not sure) or if something needs to be adjusted by the devs, offline it seems to work ok for the most part.
  12. I do not own WWI modules in DCS but based on my very old experience on another simulator in the early-mid 2000s ( Cheers Oleg! ), isn't the K-4 supposed to have not so good elevator authority beyond 550-600 km/h and a slow roll at high speed like most 109s? If true, then it should give some allied planes like a Mustang or a P-47 an advantage if they make sure to have enough altitude and never fall below 350mph? MW50 is limited to a few minutes right?
  13. Would be an instant buy for me, glad to read that they are still working on it.
  14. Honestly, it will not be nice to say but I would agree with Snappy. Out of all the modules I have, it is probably the one I use the least by far ( and basically almost never use now) due to its limited capabilities and no updates or variants. The module itself is decent, don't get me wrong, it is a really nice aircraft to fly, you get great pilot sensations as it is not FBW. It is definitely a good module to have and if you value this plane emotionally, you will not be disappointed, it is a piece of history. However I do not think that it is a better starting point than any other module or that it would teach you anything better. To me it does not compare favourably to several other modules which have received more consistent attention. As some people explained, Air to ground is basically WWII style and thus a lot more challenging than CCIP/CCRP on more modern jets, your loadout choice is very limited for both A2G and A2A and the aircraft is underpowered, it is not really popular online except on specific servers that restrict the planeset so once you're done with the sp campaign, it has less potential IMO if you only own this module. Some modules are a bit complex like the A-10 or the F-18 if you really want to master them, that is true but they are also worth the time and efforts in my opinion. But there are also modules like the Viggen , Mirage or the Tomcat which are a bit easier to get started with. The Harrier is also really interesting. If you have to own only one module for now, i think that the F5 is not the one that offers the most in "gameplay" terms.
  15. Thank you for your reply, indeed i managed to find the tacview trackfile from when it happened, unfortunately it is 10mb ( GAW server) so i couldnt link it here but what i gathered from it is that right before i spinned, i was in excess of 520 knots in a turning dive and the aircraft ailerons were perhaps excessively trimmed as to compensate after the ordnance release. I could not manage to get out of the spin, but i think that going forward i will be a lot more careful right after release to check speed and AOA before trimming ailerons in a heavy handed way ( especially at night which is when it happened to me) Many thanks as well for your really excellent videos that i have learnt a lot from, particularly with the Harrier
  16. Did not manage to reproduce the issue today, i suppose that it is because i may have over trimmed the aircraft prior to release of the outer bombs. I will keep using Mk81s 250lb bombs on the outer pylons with asymetric loadouts to see what can trigger this but i suppose it is likely to be excessive trimming as i compensate right after releasing jdams or a maverick. 70+ views no replies, i guess either my question was very silly or else nobody ever had the spinning issue with the Harrier.
  17. Hello, I had the issue twice today for the first time entering spins and losing control after releasing bombs from the outer pylons closest to wing tips where sidewinders are usually sitting. I had an asymetrical load with the ecm pod in the center line and tgp under the wing, and 1 ir mav left when i entered a spin just after releasing those bombs and making a turn away from the target. I would just like to ask first of all if i am alone to experience it and if there is a way to prevent it please or a way to recover during the spin. When i do not carry those 250lb bombs or rockeyes and just have sidearms, sidewinders or nothing on these pylons, i never had the spin before. Thank you for your help.
  18. Thank you Wisky, replacing them will be the way to do it then, it makes perfect sense though if you had 8 TOOs 10 minutes before but only 3 new targets to replace, you will still have 5 "wrong" TOOs to cycle through if you are not careful but it is really a minor inconvenience.
  19. My apologies, everything works correctly as it was an error on my part as i did not use the IR cool switch apparently because when I prepare the IR Mavericks on the ground and activate it, they get ready on time so let me take back my previous post, I have no issues with weapon selection.
  20. I would be interested as well to know if it is possible to delete target points or mark points. As it is what i try to do is to use markpoints if i have too many TOO or TOOs from a previous and distant target zone (which makes cycling between targets less practical as you approach for a multiple jdam release pass). If we can delete old targets TOOs to make it cleaner and faster to cycle between the new targets TOO or if it is possible to replace the old targets TOO with the new targets, it would be useful.
  21. I had the issue twice online, my IR Mav refused to be ready, normally you wait 60 seconds and you can uncage them, but here i couldnt find a way to get them ready, they remained in standby forever. I think that it is possible that it is because i re-armed on the carrier after a sortie the second time, i dont think i had the chocks on and engine off when it loaded the IR MAvs. The loadout was 2 IR Mavs, 2 Jdams, lightning, ecm and gun pod, 2 sidearms. When the carrier is turning, sometimes the ground chief tells " hey what are you doing?" even though you are stationary, so perhaps this could mess up the weapon loading? Or else i may be unaware of a crucial step to get them ready? I select AG mode, master arm on, box the IR Mav in the stores menu, click the tone option in the lower left above the STBY or RDY status then I start the stopwatch waiting for 60 seconds before i can uncage.
  22. I have the same issue, using AMD RX5700 with latest drivers. I actually have another unrelated problem though it happens since we got the new clouds : I almost cannot see anything in the TGP/TPod , like no ground targets at all using modules that have it ( A10cII, Harrier, F18 ) , unless there are no clouds above the terrain. This second issue is far more serious because the black sprites are rare and only last maybe 2 or max 3 seconds for me whereas the second issue prevents me to use these modules online for ground attack unless i know the targets coordinates. Thank you for considering this, i did not know where to post the second issue despite searching for it but i rarely post unless i have a problem and this is quite a problem. All the best.
  23. Still, even if the 2000c was not comparable to a Mirage 2000D for A2G (with cruise missiles Scalp, Apache, Laser targeting pod, capable of carrying all conventional bombs in the arsenal etc), from what I know it still had an air-to-ground radar mode which shows that perhaps it was not only just an interceptor in the mind of the designers. I would really like to see this ground radar function implemented in DCS at some point. Though to be fair, if Razbam would consider time better spent to make another Mirage version sold separately, like for a 2000-5 or 2000D, I would love that even more.
  24. The loadout I talked about does not carry any Magic or S530D.. ;) 8 Beluga or Snake eyes + 2 Rocket pods + either a fuel tank or 2 GBU or 1 more Beluga/Mk82 on the center pylon. BTW I did not analyze anything :) I just said that compared to a dedicated A2G aircraft like the Viggen, the Mirage can carry more ordnance for A2G to sum it up in one sentence as even if the Viggen can carry many bombs if not more with a specific loadout, it cannot release them in pairs (which allows to strike at more different targets in different locations) The Viggen is indeed much better at what it has been designed to do (deep strikes), more accurate in delivery, clearly better range, guided missiles, higher survivability for doing tricky A2G missions since it can fly very low for a long time despite not having integrated chaffs/flares. I wasn't arguing that really, I was just saying that the Mirage is far from being incapable in that department ( as is usually stated in forums) and in the context of this game (lets face it, it is huge simplification of reality), the Mirage can consistently achieve more ground kills per sortie potentially (with a dedicated A2G loadout) which can make it "superior" in a different way, particularly when attacking areas that were cleared of SAMs beforehand and contain many soft targets that you can freely attack once you destroyed the hard targets with bombs. By the way, isn't the Mirage supposed to have an air-to-ground radar mode as well? somehow it is not the sim yet :)
