  1. I haven't heard about the '77 and TSQ-96 since way back when I was in the AF and operated/maintained these.
  2. Question: were all the scenes in the trailer in-game? I couldn't tell! (that's a good thing). But I wanted to get confirmation so I could tell my retired air force friend that.
  3. Subject line says it all. I'd like to scout out an area for a mission.
  4. Is there a way via the mission editor to put some kind of marker in the sky for training purposes via the mission editor .... like the yellow circles I have seen in some of the tutorials? I've looked around but could not find.
  5. I'm lov'in this module. I put my VR glasses on, turn on my Buttkicker chair vibrator, and fly treetop level across the countryside. What a great feeling. And the basics in this aircraft are... basic and easy to learn. Muchas gracias. I own a lot of modules and this is my new fav. I know it's early access but I highly recommend the Mosquito.
  6. Of course, that's true. And given enough time, energy, investigation and do overs trying to get something to work that was item #57 in patch #4, most people can figure out the new procedures or changes after some effort. But this is no way to attract new players... or in my case... someone trying to get back into a module after being away from it for a couple of years. If anyone thinks that is the best way to attract and grow the community, let me know.
  7. Wasn't trying to slam Razbam. And they do please me lots. But the point is, it can be highly frustrating when the teaching tools provided by the developer are OBE for extended periods of time. I understand that lots of changes would drive costs up with frequently updated tutorials.. but even a work around is welcomed. For example, Razbam could add some text in the Air-to-Air Missle tutorial description such as "The Magic missle firing procedures have changed substantially. Those shown in this tutorial will no longer work." Note: I made this example up. Would that be so hard to do? At least for the most impactful changes.
  8. I own the M2000, I highly respect Razbam and think they are right up there with Heatblur as far as quality goes. But I do have what I feel is a valid criticism. And that is the tutorials and with M2000 included campaign... they lag behind the changes quite a bit. Updating a module - wonderful. Making changes and then lagging in the tutorial updates can be, sometimes, worse then not updating the module. Just say'n.
  9. Thanks for the feedback. Let me ask a related question. The campaign that comes with the M-2000 was a wonderful tutorial in disguise when I played through it some 3 years ago. It really went out of its way to teach you how to use the M-2000. But even while I was going through it at the time, there were changes to the M-2000 that did not jive with the campaign. Has that been updated?
  10. 3 years ago I flew the M-2000 quite a bit, but haven't done much since. I know there have been lots of changes to the sim. I am thinking about getting back into the M-2000. Question: what is the state of the training vids? Do they reflect the various changes?
  11. I have an idea that has application both for post mission feedback as well as entertainment value. And the idea is this: when the mission is complete, the user may be optionally presented with a video. This could be accomplished by hard wired tie in from DCS, OR, by linking in post mission in the same way that DCS liberator (dynamic campaign manager) does it. This later method would require no changes to DCS itself (like DCS liberator doesn't). What can be done if the option to showed a post mission video were allowed? Well, campaign (and mission) builders who wanted to go all out could create video cut scenes. Many, many, many games employ this. (My heart is still in Wing Commander III and IV...). Secondly, sophisticated post mission vids focusing on what happened in the mission could be triggered, e.g,: "You were shot down by an Aphid. Want to watch a video on how to reduce your chances of getting creamed next time?" What do you think? Again, just to emphasize, it would be nice if this was an option in DCS, just like the option to show an image is now possible. HOWEVER, one could by-pass DCS entirely if there was a program like DCS liberator to read the mission file and react.
  12. I just wanted to report that I experience 2.7 crashes. It doesn't happen on 1st flight. When I go to take off again it crashes. I start DCS again, it flies ok, then when I take off again... you guessed it. I don't have mods, my 1080 nvidia is up to date, 32GB memory, win 10 (up to date). i-9700K intel. I do run VR Valve index. Never experienced this level of instability before 2.7 I'm going to roll back now and wait for things to work themselves clear..
  13. Thanks @Tippis and @Rudel_chw. I got it working, but I don't understand why it's working. I, for sure, fly using OpenBeta. It is noted right in the steam game list, as well as the steam properties for DCS. But the path that works every time for the F/A-18 is: C:\Users\Rick\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard\FA-18C_hornet ...Sans OpenBeta. As long as it works, I'm happy, but I don't understand why it's working...
  14. A couple of years ago I used to be able to add images to a/c kneeboards, now I'm getting back into DCS and just can't figure out what I am doing wrong. The following example is for the f/a-18, but I can't get it to work right on my F-86. I am sure it is something I am doing. Can you point out what I am doing wrong? My user name is Rick, I run Steam, using DCS open beta. Using the F/A-18 as an example, I've placed .jpgs and .pngs in the following directory: C:\Users\Rick\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\FA-18c_hornet I want to add start up checklists etc, so want the images to always for a particular a/c, in this eample the F/A-18. Any help much appreciated! I've spent hours messing around tryin to get it to work. I also did verify file integrity for the DCS software from steam. Help! Please.
  15. I feel we did Deathlight and others, perhaps unspoken, a disservice in this thread. He asked a reasonable question, and IronMike gave a reasonable response. We don't know Deathlight's specific situation but I think we should assume he has his reasons. If anything, this thread taught Deathlight and potentially other's, don't ask a question because sometimes fellow simmers play Whac-A-Mole with you. I don't feel that's who we should be. Deathlight now knows what the reality of the situation is, and can now make decisions on how and if to play based on that reality.
  16. This campaign is the perfect setup for a sequel. I hope I hope I hope...
  17. Thanks!!! And I am off with the F10 feature. Love the campaign, BTW.
  18. I've played the Relic campaign a couple of times last year. Then I took a break from DCS. Now back to it. I can't seem to get "Mission Success" at the end of Mission 2 - the speedboat one. I follow along, get rid of the speed boats, hang around, return with the helos, they send me off with a thanks, I land at Sonchi. And then park. But I don't see the mission success notification. I've done this mission several times in the past with relative ease. I've tried to get past it twice now, and it still wants me to do that same mission. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Any thoughts anyone?
  19. In homage to the 70's superstar Billy Joel: Don't go changing to try and please me You never let me down before, mmm Don't imagine you're too familiar And I don't see you anymore I would not leave you in times of trouble We never could have come this far, mmm I took the good times, I'll take the bad times I'll take you just the way you are
  20. The F-86 is easy to learn and fun to fly. I don't fly it because it's the best/fastest/most lethal in the sky. I fly it because it isn't. But it's a solid piece of aircraft, as the 9000 units produced will attest. A real champion for its time. And it's a looker. I own the majority of the modules. My other favs are the F-14B and M-2000c. But the one I enjoy the most is the F-86.
  21. Thanks for the clarification, 'appreciate it. Even if it's a hit to immersion, until I can see the radar screen better certain compromises are needed. Once the VR that I use (index, but limited by a 1080 card) can show the regular radar screen clearly, I'll happily use that. The VTB really made a difference in eye comfort, plus immersion. Maybe not exactly reality, but immersion as in able to enjoy the game with less eye strain.
  22. Definitely check out the helmet mounted display, I think its called VTB. It is in the key binds. When activated, it puts a large yet not too intrusive copy of the radar in your helmet display area. It makes VR so much easier to use.
