SpikeGondorff replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the positive feedback! -
I've never seen the bug, but who knows what changes between updates. Spoiler on attacking those Russian jets...

What position is bullseye?
SpikeGondorff replied to d0ppler's topic in F-16C Last Out: Weasels over Syria II Campaign
I'm on mission 9 in Last Out, and the Bullseye has always been Steerpoint 25. Select it as part of the startup, and it's always worked. So far, I think BluFor's Bullseye has always been at Abu al-Duhur airbase, but maybe not all missions. I just checked the mission from your screenshots where the Bullseye is SP #4 (mission 9 in First In). It's same location as SP 25, although the elevation is 0 instead of 25k. You can see in the 2nd part of the mission (after the refuel) the startup script enables the Bullseye on 25. My understanding is that it's part of the Mission Editor process. Wherever the Bullseye is, the ME populates that location as position 25 in the F-16. I haven't messed with the F-16 in the ME, so I could be wrong. But I've always enabled it for Steerpoint 25 on all the missions in Last Out and it's always steered me fine.... -

I think Steerpoint 25 is always the Bullseye. If you go to the BULL page in the DED, you can M-Sel it to enable the Bullseye readouts on the MFDs. -
Operation Ilium, A new mini-campaign for the UH-1H
SpikeGondorff replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Sorry I missed this earlier. I'm blaming the Christmas madness. Glad you enjoyed the campaign and thanks for the kind words! On a separate topic...if anyone sees this and wants to volunteer for a small voice over part in my next campaign (for the F-14), send me a message. I have a couple of medium sized roles (20-30 lines) and a few very small roles (just 1 -5 lines total). -

You're welcome, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Night missions aren't too bad, especially with the F10 map. :) -
A bit late, but if you still need help with this... Create a new Trigger and under the Actions dropdown select X: Cockpit Perform Clickable Action. The Criteria for the Action is: Cockpit Device: 9 Command: 3035 (for the right door) or 3036 (for the left door) Value: 1 I think you can put any positive number in the Value field. It's a Toggle, so if you use the same Action later it will close the doors. Hope that helps!

Operation Ilium, A new mini-campaign for the UH-1H
SpikeGondorff replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Sorry for the problem! There was an issue with a trigger that caused Castor and Pollux to incorrectly be considered dead. I updated the mission with a fix a couple of weeks ago. Did you download the campaign since April 16th? Or was it before then? If you downloaded before April 16th, try to redownload the campaign and fly it with the updated mission. If it was downloaded after that date, I'll have to take another look at the mission. I can take a look tomorrow or the next day. -

Updated the files so that the final mission should no longer fail unexpectedly. Thanks S3ntinell for reporting it! Sorry again for the problem. -

Sorry about the delayed response. I never got an email that a new reply was on this thread. I just re-ran the mission and received the same issue. Looks like a Mission Failed trigger now fires when the group is deactivated instead of actually killed. I think I fixed it, but I want to fly it a few times to be sure. Sorry for the issue, but many thanks for posting about the problem. I'll post again when I've updated and uploaded the mission after some more tests. -

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. The voice actors were awesome, and many thanks to them for their work. You're the first to report issues with the volume of the voices, but there definitely could be others. Some lines were recorded quieter, and I may have just not boosted them up enough. If there is a specific section or person with quiet lines, let me know and I can take a look. Thanks for the recommendation! -
needs update Mission 09–Trigger Bug?
SpikeGondorff replied to weasel1088's topic in F/A-18C Raven One Campaign
Tried it again today on the most recent build (2.9.1.48335) and it worked. I don't know what was different, maybe nothing, but it worked. The joys of infantry in DCS. I'm on MT. Thanks for the help, and for a fun campaign! (2nd time playing through it.) -

SpikeGondorff replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Updated the first mission to fix that trigger. I forgot to add the landing part of the trigger, so when you just flew over them (without landing) it fired. I added the landing part of it... Awesome, glad you finished it and like it! If you have any questions on how the missions work, or ideas on how to make the missions smoother, please let me know. I don't know why they don't have some animated soldiers in the back of the helo. I know it's been requested since the Huey launched. Hopefully they'll get to it, because it would add a lot to the atmosphere. -

Thanks for the report. Probably a backup trigger (in case the game didn't recognize that the group were loaded on the helicopter) that fired incorrectly. I'll take a look when I get some time. And thanks for the update on the 2nd mission. I'm pretty sure I have some grey hairs just from the infantry. -

Thanks for the kind words; glad you're enjoying it so far. And you nailed the inspiration for the jeep shot. -
Good afternoon everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know about a new mini-campaign for the best helicopter in DCS. I'm creating this thread for any feedback, bug reports, etc. because I don't get notified on new Comments in the User Files. The summary: In April of 2022, a Brazilian journalist has been kidnapped near the Ba'ath Dam. You've been hired by a Private Military Company to provide helicopter support and transport to help locate and rescue the journalist. The campaign has full voiceovers with kneeboard pages. It's not meant to be a difficult campaign. As long as you can start up, take off, and land the Huey in FARP-sized landing areas, it will be fine. The difficulty ramps up through the 4 missions, however. If you're interested, here's a link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334386/ Thanks, and fly safe!

needs update Mission 09–Trigger Bug?
SpikeGondorff replied to weasel1088's topic in F/A-18C Raven One Campaign
Just ran into this issue with the 2.9.0.47168 build. Venom said they'd go, and they spawned, but then didn't move. I found them with the ATFLIR and they weren't moving; some were kneeling and others were lying down. It looks like they were reacting to a threat and ignoring any move orders. I've seen the same thing in some of the small missions I create. I attached a Tacview file where one can see Venom spawn and then stop moving. They never fired, or were fired on. I circled for a bit to see if they'd get unstuck, but that never happened. Tacview-20231113-204549-DCS-R1 M09.zip.acmi -
Nevada Instant Action: Aerial Refueling Mission issue
SpikeGondorff replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Check my first response for the keybind. I'd also check your keybind list to be sure it's mapped to the same thing as mine. Sorry, I'm on my phone or I'd give a more in depth reply. -
Nevada Instant Action: Aerial Refueling Mission issue
SpikeGondorff replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
No, the tanker will respond within 5 seconds or so with his altitude and speed. Are you tuned to the correct radio frequency? It should be 225.000. If you selected the F-14A refueling mission, then it's channel 1 on the pilot's radio. If you selected the F-14B mission, you'll have to manually tune it. With Easy Communications turned off, you will need to be on the correct frequency and on the correct radio before using the Communications menu. What frequency are you using? -
Nevada Instant Action: Aerial Refueling Mission issue
SpikeGondorff replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
If you selected F-14B mission, you need to manually tune to 225.000. It looks like neither the pilot nor the RIO have that as a preset frequency. If you select the AAR mission with the F-14A, then the pilot's radio is tuned to 225.000 on channel 1 at mission start. Since you're saying the option is greyed out, I'm assuming you're using Easy Communications, which apparently is not enabled for this mission. If you want to learn the non-easy way to communicate, page 294 in the manual will give you a run down on the pilot's radio. You'll need to map the Mic Button UHF1 (ARC-159) to something on your HOTAS, or use the default keybind of "Right Alt + \" to open up the Communications Menu with the pilot's radio once it's on the correct frequency. The other option is to go into your Settings where Easy Communications is set (under Gameplay), and enable the "Force options for all missions and campaigns" checkbox. That might not be the exact name, but it's something similar. I've never used it, but that should force all your settings onto the AAR mission and enable Easy Communications. -
Greetings all, I've come across a bug in the Mission Editor that deletes the text/subtitle output of the Transmit Message command during the auto backup process. It appears similar to the bug listed in this thread back in December: That bug occurred when manually saving, but this one only occurs when the automatic backup process fires. Apologies if it's already been posted, but I haven't seen it despite searching. The weird thing is that the backup save is fine, but the current mission in the ME after the save is missing all the texts. In other words, if you notice the problem and open the most recent backup, your mission is fine. The first time the auto-backup triggers, the subtitles are replaced with "DictKey_subtitle_###". The 2nd time the auto backup triggers, it wipes the text altogether. I've attached some before and after screenshots of the auto-backup. The first picture is before the backup kicks off. The 2nd pic is after 1 auto-backup. And the third pic is after 2 auto-backups. I'm on the latest version, 2.7.10.19473. I've shut off the automatic backup process altogether because of this, which is a shame, because that process has saved my bacon a few times. Thanks, Spike

SP Campaign: Operation Earnest Will
SpikeGondorff replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
2.7 really messed up a lot of things. I fixed Mission 6 by adding a new trigger for them to stay put until your nose is pointed to between 260-300 degrees. The carrier is headed around 280 degrees, so it should trigger when you pull out and line up for the catapult. I attached the updated mission here because I pulled the campaign from the User Downloads for several reasons (2.7 breaking a lot of stuff being one of them). In the future, if anything weird like this happens with the wingmen or other flights, you should be able to fly the mission normally. Whenever you get to the action, your Results should be 50, which means you can hit the End Mission button. When you continue the campaign, it should load the Continued version of it, usually around the 1st waypoint of the mission. All the wingmen and other flights should be correctly placed. Thanks! Some great pics in this thread; keep them coming! I took some for my desktop's wallpaper rotation. Here's one I liked from one of the new missions I'm creating, with a skin from lee1hy.
