  1. I've been away from DCS for a few months, and when I tried to use the LITENING pod on the F-18 none of my controls are working anymore. As I write this, I'm literally flying the plane with A/P on and going through each of these controls below: The Pod is on, I have the screen up and everything, I can see things out of it, that much is working. The HUD had a diamond with a dot in the middle that I wasn't able to clear, but it went away after rage-smashing some buttons. The camera on the pod was locked, seemingly on this point, but I managed to free it once and now it's stuck again. The proper screen is selected with the SCS. Using the cage button clears the screen and shows only a large, screen-wide crosshair. All other information like the text on the edges of the screen goes away when I cage it. Using the TDC doesn't move the camera, but instead causes the reticle to alternate quickly between a diamond and a crosshair. I cannot re-center the camera with the cage button (as mentioned) and I cannot move the camera at all. Externally, it appears the camera is looking at the pod itself and isn't pointing outside of the plane. Also worth noting is a timer on the HUD that I cannot figure out how it got there, but the HUD flashes LST whenever I press the cage button. What on earth have I done, or haven't done? This thing worked the last time I tried it and now none of the controls are working. UPDATE: I decided to give up on that plane and get a new one. The second plane had a working pod until I pressed the Designate button. Pressing that has locked up the pod and I cannot undesignate the target, and with the target designated the pod is working as described above.
  2. I purchased the F-14 yesterday and have seen some lengthy load times, however they seem to be much better in Single-player than in Multi-player. Specs: CPU : Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz GPU : Radeon RX 470 MEM : 16 GB DDR4 3000MHz Seagate 2TB hard drive (not solid-state) As mentioned, Multi-player loading times are significantly longer than Single-player loading times, but the way the plane loads is also different. Loading into Single-player, the plane simply drops into the world after the loading screen and is ready to go. In Multi-player, however, the plane first loads the cockpit as a gray model, then very slowly adds textures to the cockpit. The last thing to load is the reflections on the gauges and screens, usually a few minutes after the plane loads into the world.
  3. Hi everyone! I've run into a recurring issue when landing the F-16 where the HUD will drop considerably when slowing to landing speed. Here's an example: The image above is one of the more reasonable situations, however I have run into a few landings where the velocity circle and the bracket drop completely off the HUD as I'm reducing speed and setting the AoA. Coming from the F-18, it's very possible that I have some deep seeded habits that shouldn't be used in this plane when setting the plane up for proper AoA, but I'm basically doing the same thing as usual: Reduce speed to 250, lower the landing gear, extend the flaps, trim for nose-up attitude. In most landings, the velocity circle is completely off the HUD (circle with X in it) as I cross the runway threshold but the AoA is correct just before it drops off the HUD. My friends who are flying the 16 have VR, and they say they just lift their head up to see the HUD data. In my situation without VR, my only option is to raise the seat significantly over the normal position. I saw Wags' video and noticed that his velocity circle and bracket were low, but just like with VR he's moved his head forward to see what's on the HUD. Is there a way to correct this for those of us without head-moving stuff or are we just kinda out to lunch with this?
  4. Also having a black screen issue. I installed the Open Beta overnight and it worked just fine this morning. I downloaded the modules and it's now showing an eternal black screen after the DCS Splash logo. Attached a log file below dcs.zip
  5. Hey all, Bought the F-18 during the sale and have struggled mightily with the carrier style landing due to a lone issue where the plane noses up heavily on gear deploy below 250kts. While I've had a bunch of experience with airfield landings, the Carrier-style pattern and landing procedure is a struggle. Following the tutorial mission instructions, I'm going to full flaps at 250kts and then dropping the gear as the plane slows below that speed. The problem is that the plane will nose-up sharply once the gear is dropped and my sink rate will go from around -600 to +1300 almost instantaneously, so I'm suddenly a lot higher than pattern altitude, low on speed, and struggling to get the nose back down. In this situation while the airspeed is dropping my instinct is to feed it throttle to keep it from stalling, which would increase my climb rate, but that would throw me off even further! Needless to say, this starts a series of up-and-down movements for the rest of the pattern. I've watched both Matt Wagner's and Jabbers' videos on the Case 1 landing pattern and neither of them have this happen when they lower the landing gear. I have noticed that my elevator trim moves to nose-up once the gear is down and locked, leading me to believe that this is the culprit but I have no way to see their controls in the videos to know if their trim is changing as well. Since this problem always throws the plane upward it completely hoses everything done prior to that, and because of it I've been unable to hit the carrier deck since I'm having to calm the plane down. Is this normal behavior or have I done something wrong? I simply cannot figure out how to keep the plane from having this massive pitch change since full stick-forward isn't enough to correct the nose-up attitude. Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone, I was trying to go through the Unguided Rockets training mission tonight and was unable to get the A/G gun to work. I followed the steps the narrator explained to get "hot gun" mode, the "RDY" message was on the DDI next to GUN, but the gun simply would not fire. Without changing any settings I went back to the Air-to-Ground gun tutorial and it worked as expected, and also worked in the CCIP Bombing mission listed below the Rockets mission. It's very possible that I made a small error that would keep the gun from firing, but I've checked all that I know of and could not get it to work.
