  1. I'll give it a try, thanks. The problem is that adjusting one variable demands adjusting several others. Altitude, speed, distance, bank angle, all these are linked and interfere with one another. If the ceiling is low, and for instance if the area is somewhat mountainous then you would need to reduce the altitude, the circle diameter, hence adjust the speed and angle, and be killed because you lost time in regaining line of sight..
  2. Is there a simple method to correctly orbit a target at a set altitude and speed and distance without risking loosing sight of the TPOD? I always struggle with that and always break the Tpod line of sight because the circle is not prefect.... assuming there is no wind which makes things even harder.
  3. Hi I don't know what i do wrong but i can't have DCS logo in the OpenComposite configuration window like you show in 4). Anyone's help would be great thanx
  4. Hi, Ill try to make me understand, but i might be wrong in the end if all this is normal. Say you want to fly with the AutoPilot. You define your heading by pushing the Heading Set Switch (HDG) either side until you reach the desired heading, say 090. When pushing the Heading Set Switch, the Command Heading Marker (page 487 on the FA18 manual) will turn around the compas rose and mark 090 of the HSI. When you press AP, then HSEL on the UFC, the aircraft will turn to 090. What I want to say is that when you are tactical, you use the SA Page rather than the HSI. So from the HSI, you press SA on the TAC page, you get basically all the contents of the HSI, plus tactical stuff like other aircraft etc... but the command Heading Marker is not present around the rose of the SA page. That makes navigation not easy using SA page. But maybe this is normal... in that case i am sorry to bother you!
  5. yes that's what i refer to... this symbol doesn't appear on the SA page, its however functional since the aircraft will follow the actions on the heading switch if EP HSEL is selected
  6. Hi everyone, I don't know if that's normal or if i miss something but the Heading symbol on the the HSI is visible for navigation but doesn't appear on the SA page. So auto navigation is not easy when travelling long distances while displaying the SA page. However acting on the Heading Switch (HDG) when in AP HSEL has effect on the A/C heading...
  7. Thanks , I did test that way, and yes correct names are used. Restarting DCS for every map change is not practical though
  8. Some airfields of the PG map are identified with Caucasus airfiled names on the radio. Ex: Bateen airfiled responds as Kobulati
  9. So that is my case (X99 and 5960X), thanks toutenglisse.
  10. Thank you all, guys for your remarks. I now understand better what is going on. I will give a try to what JimmyWA suggests and come back.
