  1. Hi all Anyone here flying the Mirage F1 using Quest 2? It's most likely a setting or settings I need to tweak on my system, but the cockpit overall and instruments are generally very shimmery/sparkly, in particular the ADI (artificial horizon) and the covering for the control panel (especially on the upper left) look almost like glitterballs. Not only does it make many of the instruments and dials difficult to read, it's very uncomfortable for the eyes. I have all the flyable modules in my collection, and this is the only aircraft I'm seeing this really exaggerated effect in, and it's present in the F1CE, EE and BE. External views are perfect. It's all fine in 2d using TrackIR. I have access to both standalone Beta and Stable with normal or MT versions (so no DCS Steam install). I'm currently using standalone Open Beta MT with 2.9 update. FXO and Metashaders2 folders emptied after update + last hotfix installed. I also use Viacom Pro/VoiceAttack (not that that should make a difference?) I'm using Quest 2 with cable via USB3 hub (all updates installed). It's set to 72hz with default 1.0x 4128x2096 resolution setting. I also have Oculus Tool Tray installed and OpenXR tool kit. I've got 32gb RAM, Nvidia 3090ti (latest drivers), 1000w PSU with Win10 home premium fully updated with DCS on an SSD and windows on an NVME. On 2D with TrackIR I can run maxed out on all maps (except for Sinai and Syria when things get very busy I notice a drop in performance). In-game settings for a balanced smooth and clear performance in VR are: SYSTEM Res 1920x1080 (desktop Res is 3440x1440) 1 screen 1024 every frame MSAA 4x Upscaling off Sharpening 0.51 Textures high Terrain textures high Shadows flat only Shadows blur both off SSS off Visible range high Civ traffic off Clouds ultra Water medium SSAO off SSLR off Lens effect dirt+flare Heat blur off Motion blur off Depth of field off Clutter 0 Forest Vis 50% Forest detail 0.3 Scenery detail 0.4 Preload 100000 Chimney smoke 0 Gamma 1.7 Ext FoV 78 LoD 1 Anisotropic 16x Terrain object shadow off Cockpit global illumination off Font scale 1 Scale GUI 1 Rain droplets on VSync off Full screen off Cursor to game window on VR Pixel density 1.2 Force IPD unchecked (value in box states 63.5) Bloom effect off MSAA mask 0.42 HMD mask off VR mirror Use DCS resolution on Eye source right eye. My Nvidia control panel has a profile for DCS, but everything is set to default/global setting except: Power management mode - pref max performance VR pre rendered frames - 1 The basic setup was done using the latest tutorial by Laubox as it covered both 2.9 and Quest 2, and all in all this is the clearest and smoothest I've had it all running: https://youtu.be/C799qSimMd4?si=7j0o-reiAMjPXPjN Any suggestions as to where to look at settings to tweak? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice! Cheers Rob

  3. Hi all, Just trying to get my head around setting up Voiceattack with VIACOM plugins. I'm getting this message on starting up: Unable to cast object of type '.' to type 'NAudio.CoreAudioApi.Interfaces.MMDeviceEnumeratorComObject'. Any clues as to what this is referring to? Currently using Win10 fully updated Voiceattack v1.10.3 running as admin VIACOMPro with licence for chatter, AIRIO, RealATC, Kneeboard, v2.5.27.3 DCS stable v2.7.16.28157 Thanks for any info or suggestions! Rob
  4. Finally got a rig that can give DCS the performance it deserves, so I can fall in love with the F-14... it's taken a couple of months practice with one flying night per week, but it's all slowly falling into place getting her back onboard the boat Now I need to learn to kill things, learn to set up Viacom and talk sweet nothings to Jester (without forgetting how to land on the boat!) Addicted. Period.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm looking to actually start playing DCS again after several years out (my current rig just wont even load the main menu), and as its 10yrs old I dont think there's much more I can do to help it. I've been looking around the net and i'm hovering around Wired2Fire and their rigs. The one i'm interested in is the X3000 (basic specs follow below). I'm not very knowledgable on modern hardware, so what I'd like to ask you is, is this setup worth the investment as an off the shelf item, or would you recommend some tweaking/upgrading of components? My aim here is to come away with something that I won't need to upgrade for many years, but will happily run DCS in all its glory. I also want to move into a triple screen setup. It also needs to handle Rise of Flight, FSX:Steam and IL-2 1946 and a few FPS. CPU : Intel Core i5 7600K Quad Core Socket 1151 (4.2GHz, 6MB Cache, Overclockable) CPU Cooler : Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120 CPU Water Cooler Graphics Card 1 : nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Card Memory : 16GB Corsair DDR4 2666MHz C16 Dual Channel Memory Kit (2 x 8GB) Motherboard : Asus Prime Z270-P Motherboard System Drive : Samsung 250GB 850 Evo Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid-State Drive Optical Drive : DVD-RW 22x Power Supply : FSP Non-modular 500W Power Supply (Bronze 80 Plus Certified) Sound Card : Onboard HD 7.1 Audio Operating System : Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-bit) £1,293.98 (inc vat) On the above I have changed the case to all allow installation of a CD drive as I have far too many items on disc and dont want to spend extra on replacing them with download versions. I can stretch up to £1600ish if the return on performance and longevity can be made. With that in mind, what are your thoughts on the following?: Case: 1 x Corsair Carbide Series Spec03 White LED Case CPU:1 x Intel Core i7 7700K Quad Core Socket 1151 (4.5GHz, 8MB Cache, Hyperthreading, Overclockable) CPU Cooler: 1 x Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120 CPU Water Cooler CPU Thermal Paste: 1 x Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste Overclocking: 1 x Wired2Fire Overclocking (non-standard cooler required) Tuning and Optimisation: 1 x Wired2Fire Tuning (BIOS, Driver and OS Tweaks) Graphics Card 1: 1 x nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Card Memory: 1 x 16GB Corsair DDR4 3000MHz C15 Dual Channel Memory Kit (2 x 8GB) Motherboard: 1 x Asus ROG Strix Z270F Gaming Motherboard System Drive: 1 x Samsung 250GB 850 Evo Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid-State Drive Storage Drive 1: 1 x Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200 64MB Cache SATA III Hard Disk Drive RAID Option: 1 x No RAID Optical Drive: 1 x DVD-RW 22x Power Supply: 1 x FSP Hydro G 750W Gold Modular Power Supply Cable Management: 1 x Wired2Fire Cable Management Case Fan Upgrades: 2 x Corsair ML120 Pro Case Fan Sound Card: 1 x Onboard HD 7.1 Audio Keyboard: 1 x Standard USB 2.0 Keyboard Mouse: 1 x Standard Optical Mouse Network Adapters: 1 x Standard Wireless 802.11n (300Mbps) USB Adapter Operating System: 1 x Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-bit) For that I'm looking at £1649.00 (includes vat) Are there items in the above that when combined don't make sense (expense for no performance gain)? Lastly, do you have have any recommendations as to where you would purchase a rig from (bear in mind i'm in the UK)? Like I say I'm not up on all the tech stuff nowadays, but do enjoy and miss my gaming sessions - the last time I flew DCS (I was an off-line flyer) they'd just announced the Huey was going to be released! Thank you in advance for any advice you can give on this, as at the moment I do feel rather clueless as to what direction to take here. Cheers, Rob
  6. Crunch, thanks for the reply Sir! Been searching for useful info in various forums to help on this. Interesting to see about the connection speed as the *client*. We had been making this as the connection for both machines, so thats something else to test & check :joystick: Checked the link for Alcrity and have d/loaded. Will try this too! Already custom tweaked the graphic settings on both machines, but will certainly give the scenes a knock-back to *low* on my PC (think they're already set as that on the XP machine, but will have to check next time its fired up). Not quite sure about the modem/router suggestion (networking and the like is still a bit of a brainacher to me). The kit I've got is a *Livebox*, an all-in-one job with 2 ethernet cable sockets. No#1 goes from my PC to the Livebox, while No#2 is taken with the cable from my XP machine. I have no idea how or even if its possible to bypass the router. $15 for FC is a good deal. Think there'll be some arm twisting going on next time I see Chris! Very interested in giving LAN another go after seeing you say it would be faster for sure. Do you use LAN yourself at all Crunch? If so, got any tips and things to look out for in getting it all set up in LockOn? Thanks very much for your help so far! Best regards Rob CPS_Bomber
  7. Hello Everyone! My first post here, so pleasure to meet you all  A friend and I are getting into formation aerboatics using LockOn (we're still using the original LockOn patched to v1.02 rather than Flaming Cliffs as my friend does not have this yet...). We've been trying to record tracks of our flights so examine our performance, but the playback of the tracks is not of the best quality  So I'm wondering if any of you can give us a few tips on how to improve things in multiplayer? OK, we can connect to each other over the internet OK (we've tried setting up a LAN connection at my place, but just can't get my two PC's to see each other - even though we have no problems with the IL-2 series, Strike Fighters, Flight Simulator etc). Using Internet connection either of us can host or be client. When we fly, we seem to suffer from very jerky and over exaggerated movements when taxiing and braking on the ground both when making the flight and when reviewing the recorded track... if I look at my friend he lurches forward many meters (sometimes as much as twice his own aircraft length) and then springs backwards a few times the same distance behind his parking spot before coming to rest when using wheel brakes, even though from in his cockpit looking at me its all nice and smooth. The reverse happens when he looks at me from his cockpit. When we're up in the air, things aren't so bad when we're making the flight, but when we look at the recorded track after the flight, it looks awful. With just me making the track recording, my friends aircraft is jumping around all over the place when we replay. His smoke trails are pulsing too - not smooth flowing like my own. Also, his control surfaces don't move, but the canopy, speedbrake and landing gear seems to animate OK... But when he records the track, it's the other way around. My aircraft if having a fit with pulsing smoke and very little control animations, while his is smooth as silk! We have tried testing all the available connection speeds offered in the multiplayer setup screens, but none seem to give stable results. Eventually when we get our routine completed we'd like to make a proper film of it, but this just won't happen with the track results we're getting at the moment! When we fly off-line and make a track, the recording is fine. Some tech stuff for you: My main PC is - Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8500GT with a total video RAM of 1267MB, Windows Vista 32bit with full updates applied, Dx10. Saitek X52Pro, Saitek ProPedals, Saitek Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit. All controllers are Saitek SST software programmed. The second PC (which works over the internet through the same router with ethernet cable but refuses to connect via LAN just for LockOn) is - Intel Pentium4 @2.66GHz, 2.5GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce FX5200 with 128MB RAM, Windows XP 32bit with full updates applied, Dx9c. Saitek X45 using Saitek SST software. Internet - Broadband, 100Mbps. Orange Livebox dsl modem/router is an Inventel DV4210-WU, wired connection to the internet, not wireless. Second PC is wired to the router via ethernet cable. Avast antivirus installed on both machines. Windows firewall used. TCP/UDP ports added to firewall/router for LockOn. As a comparison, we can use IL-2 1946 trouble free. We can connect to each other with the above PC's via internet or LAN, either directly via IP or through Hyperlobby. All tracks recorded are fine too, no lag during play even when large numbers of aircraft are present and custom skins are used. We can also use Ventrillo comms on both machines too if we join in with other games over Hyperlobby. Thankyou all very much for your time in reading this, and thankyou too in advance for any information & tips you may be able to pass on our way! Happy flying & clear skies to you all Rob CPS_Bomber
