  1. has anyone tried running Steam OS or anyother version of Linux on their PC to play DCS in VR?
  2. I'm sorry if someone has shouted this out before. I have been following a YouTuber named FIXEDIT, this guy or group of guys and gals is recreating Tom Clancy's book Red Storm Rising audio book to life using DCS and Cold Waters. These few videos FIXEDIT has created are brilliant and need to be shouted out, if you have the time check them out, I don't have the talent or time to help them, but if you do ask FIXEDIT if you could help out, jesus they are good videos. I hope FIXEDIT does the entire book, they could use Arma 3 for the ground scenes, but regardless I want to see what else they can come up with, hopefully with help from this community, if you can't help give the channel a watch, thumbs up and a SUB, thanks.
  3. During the silicon shortage, I got a white Gigabyte 3080 non TI, in my black PC. I just bought a black 6950, am I making a mistake? I fly in VR, thanks.
  4. I just bought a RX 6950 to replace my 3080 non TI. Am I making a mistake? Just to give some context,I fly in VR, I needed a GPU during the silicon shortage, had to buy a complete system from an integrator called Lyte Gaming PC(Stay away from them, they are just as shady as Newegg). After BS'ing for months and trying to get me to pay $1k more for a 3080Ti, at the same time I was polite and understanding and in no way demanding, they sent a white Gigabyte RTX 3080 10 Gig in a black PC, AND sent the wrong type size quantity and speed memory, not once but twice, nor did they send any of the upgrades they promised. I have hated it since I got it, a F'ing white GPU in a all black PC, I can finally afford to replace it but GPU prices have spiked again, I would rather have a 4090, 4080 or 3090Ti, I am terrified of used GPU's of getting screwed by buying a bricked GPU or one from a F'ing miner. If this 6950 is equal too or a little better than my 3080, I'll be happy with it, but I don't know, can someone help me with this. Thanks. PS. I tore that <profanity>ty Lyte PC apart and used the CPU, memory and GPU to build my PC. My current specs are Ryzen 7 3800X, 64 Gig of DDR-3600, X570, 3080 and a 750 watt ps( got a new 850watt on the way), whether I keep or return the 6950 I will be replacing the CPU with a Ryzen 7/9 5000, I'm leaning toward the Ryzen 7 5800X3D because of the cache size, could use so advice on that too. Thanks.
  5. I had a experience...At the beginning of the silicon shortage, during the BIG Winter Storm that hit the Southern US over a year ago. When the power was restored my PC would not boot. I am poor, the most PC I could buy was a "Open Box" Cyber Power PC from Newegg, I had bought from them before, had no complaints but did not research if the company had changed. What I got was a completely disassembled PC with all the components shoved into the case without padding, the GPU and big CPU air cooler were stacked ontop of the motherboard and the Ryzen CPU was in a regular Ziplock bag...at least 1/3 of the pins were crushed, the motherboard had obvious damage, the GPU mount was bent and the best part...the M.2 HD was gone...stolen by whomever bought it "new" and returned it. I could physically prove that I did not have time to take it apart with my UPS account and the time I called Newegg's Customer Service, just enough time for someone to open the box and look. I tried telling the Rep that I bought a complete PC but everything in the box was trashed, DESTROYED, her response "is there damage too the shipping box?", the questions she was asking was leading to trying to blame UPS so they would not be at fault....again trying to tell the Rep what was wrong, they wanted me to upload pics to some website, I forgot which one, that required an account to do so. I had to demand to send them in an email, while I was taking the pics, she hung up...I was not taking my time, she hung up because I stopped speaking for the amount of time it takes a person to pick up their phone and open the camera app. When I called them back, less than 10 minutes to take pics and send them in an email, their response was, we will take a look and let you know. While talking to this new Rep I asked why/how could this happen...she repeatedly said all returns are inspected so this "...could not happen". A few days later, they authorized a return...not a refund, just ship it back and they will "Inspect it". 4 Weeks later they authorized my refund...again I have a UPS account, Newegg received it in 4 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During this time I was looking at Newegg returns and seeing the countless stories that were very similar to mine, where people were sold know damaged or broken parts components and PC's and refused to refund the customer because Newegg would use the smallest excuse to deny a refund, the video of Steve at GamersNexus is an good example...AND they would not send the product back to the customer....they would keep your money and keep the trashed product they sold you to probably resell it and scam someone else. I did get my money back, luckily, I honestly believe my UPS account is the only reason, the fact there was not enough time for a human to disassemble a PC between the time it was delivered and the time I was speaking to a Newegg Rep, but the punch line is during the 4 weeks they took to decide I saw several PC's just on Amazon that I could afford that were equal too or better PC's. By the time I got my money the silicon shortage was in full swing and only scalpers had GPU's so I had to wait another 9 months. DO NOT BUY FROM NEWEGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They tried to blame anyone but themselves CS Reps do not listen THEY LIE I will be goddamned if I ever buy from them again. I hope they go bankrupt
  6. Yea, I turned it around so I wouldn't have to look at it as soon as I put it together. I asked the same question on DCS Facebook groups, you wouldn't believe the idiots who have responded and gotten into arguments.....It would be a straight swap, this guy is looking for a white GPU and I want a black one, I have never owned a Radeon Card, I've had nothing but Nvidia, just looking at GPU rankings and the Clock speeds and total Vram seems like the 6900 is a better card. I wasn't looking to buy a new GPU so I haven't paid any attention to how they preform in the real world.
  7. I have a Gigabyte 3080 OC (non Ti) in white, I hate it color my PC is black, I posted on FB market place asking if someone would be willing to swap. I guy just contacted me with a AsRock 6900XT in black looking for a white GPU. Should I swap with him? We are meeting at the Best Buy Geek Squad Counter, I'm bring my entire PC to show my and test his GPU
  8. I recently got a prebuilt to get a GPU, It came with a MSI b550 motherboard(it's stored and if your interested I'll dig it out to get the exact model), I didn't use it, its a small atx. My old motherboard a Gigabyte x470 AORUS Gaming 5 WIFI. My old processor is a Ryzen 5 2600, non X, or its not overclockable. I'm selling my old 1080, so I've recently tested them, everything works. My GPU is on FB marketplace.
  9. Every so often I try and google new stick, throttles and control panels. What I see is the same article that has been floating around for 10 plus years, listing Thrustmaster, Saitek, etc or a bunch of resellers and companies making setups for general aviation. Does any one know of any other flight sim hardware manufacturers? I know about Thrustmaster( obviously), VKB, Virpil and Winwing. Thanks.
  10. should have made and offer, another guy asked and passed, I offered $150 + shipping, I just wanted it gone.
  11. SOLD Would anyone be interested in a Rift S? I got a Valve Index and don't need it anymore, I would include my Oculus account too, I can't remember the entire list of games and apps I have but I have Arizona Sunshine with DLC and Virtual Desktop. It would come in the OEM box, and the box that was used to ship it to me, I always keep my boxes. If anyone is interested let me know, I just want to git rid of this thing. If you are and want some pics, just ask and I'll be glad too, thanks
  12. Dude! I have had an even worse experience. I have had a lot of luck and saved money by buying "open box" items, my 1080 is giving me problems at exactly the wrong time to buy a graphics card, so I found a "open box" IBuyPower prebuilt at Newegg. I have a UPS account so I can track all delivers to and from me, I get the package from Newegg in a pristine box, I open the box and see a completely disassembled PC, no foam, no anti static bags, absolutely nothing to protect the PC parts from bouncing around banging into each other. The parts were trashed, packed into the PC case in this order, RTX graphics card and CPU cooler ontop of the motherboard, underneath the mother board was the Ryzen CPU....in a F'ing kitchen ziplock bag. Any person and I do mean any person could see these parts were broken, the big RTX card was bent it did not have anything to protect it or its PCI slot, the mother board, put into a normal plastic bag, had enough force applied to grind and tear that bag, so I'll let you guess what it did to the micro traces or caps and resistors on the board, the Ryzen CPU in its ziplock had 1/3rd of its pin crushed, not bent, crushed, will break off if you try to straighten, the power supply had been unscrewed, the case was scratched and bent, and to top it all off the M.2 hard drive was missing. UPS dropped it off around 1230, I was speaking to a Newegg rep at 1245, at first they wanted to know about the shipping box, the rep was trying anything they could to blame UPS for the damage, I told them the box was pristine,...trying to blame UPS for a completely disassembled PC????...the rep then wanted me to make an account to some image site to upload pics of the damage....I have a F'ing email address and no I will not make an account, while I was trying to upload the pics and send them the rep disconnected... I finally got another rep, uploaded the pics, it was then they only authorized a return, not a refund, a "we will inspect it and let you know". I tried letting them know that I could prove with my UPS account that less than 20 minutes passed between the delivery and the time I started speaking with a customer service rep, so that there was no way I could have disassembled and destroyed and entice PC. In desperation I sent an email to IBuyPower, it took them 2 months to respond. Again with my UPS account I could see that my return was accepted by Newegg, a week went by before they sent me an email stating they were inspecting it, it took about another week for them to authorize a refund and 5-7 business days later I got my refund. I tried so hard to get Newegg to explain what happened, every rep told me that "ALL" returns are inspected before they are resold, I told them you are either lying or trying to screw someone, which is it? It took over a month to get my money back, in that time I saw a couple of prebuilts with 3080s sell out, a PC I could have bought if Newegg had given me my money. Btw, when IBuyPower did respond, 2 months later, they gave canned answers of "we're sorry, so you got a refund, everything is fine, you're a valued customer, how can we help". I didn't want a new PC, mine broke, I needed a part, a part that is almost impossible to get. Newegg and IBuyPower never acknowledged that they screwed a customer over, Newegg never said "sorry, we screwed up" it seems like they tried to blame anyone else, IBuyPower did not care that Newegg was trashing their brand. I told both companies I don't have alot of money, because they held my money I missed several chances to buy the part I needed. I will never give Newegg or IBuyPower a dime, I will trash them every chance I get. I can upload the pics and screens shots to back up everything I have said.
  13. It depends on the price, I hadn't planned on selling it. I was hoping to connect the throttle to it but use the 2 joystick axis for a rudder input, but make me an offer. You do understand that both joystick axis brackets are broken? The board in the base works, and no I am keeping the pots its just the base with a working PCB. I've stripped everything off, the rubber boot, boot retaining ring, poteniometers spares for the throttle.
  14. What would happen to a TM Cougar base if I wired the 2 joystick axis to the pots in the toe brake assembly of some TM TFRP pedals? Does anyone have any info about Hoffman Simped Pedals, I have the version without toe brakes, it has a split connector with a game port and 1 that plugs directly to the Cougar base. I recently bought a broken, complete TM Cougar it also came with these Hoffman Simped pedals. I have never heard of them before, but people have told me that they are a really good set of pedals. I don't know which model I have, but they are the version without toe brakes, it has a connector to plug into the Cougar stick base and a game port plug that splits off from it. Does it have to have both connector plugged in to work? Or does the split connectors just give you the options to use it with or without a Cougar? Again I have this broken Cougar base, the board inside works just fine, the internal brackets for the stick are broken. I really like these pedals, my only complaint about them is the lack of toe brakes. Since I have his Cougar base that has 2 analog axis that are not usable to wire them to act as toe brakes? I also have some TM TFRP pedals that I never use, just mocking things up I disassembled the TFRP pedals, drilled a small hole in the left and right toe brakes and was able to mount them to the Simped pedals. The Simped pedals only have a single M4 screw to mount the foot pedals, so I might have to make another to keep the TFRP toe brake assembly from rotating, but it looks like it would work. Would it destroy the board in the Cougar base? Would the software recognize them? Thanks
  15. The second complete Cougar arrived today. The sticks internal brackets are broken, but the electronics work perfectly. I haven't tested the grip yet, but with the brackets shattered inside the base, it didn't harm the board, I connected the throttle to the base, everything but the thumb stick worked. So far the only other issues I've found are the RNG, ELEV pots center detentes are a little hare to feel. I hoped it wasn't broken, but I feared it was completely trashed. Only one side of the base's internal brackets are broken, it could be replaced. It's a hell of alot better than I hoped. UPDATE: I hooked the throttle up with just my TUSBA R2, EVERYTHING WORKS. Just needs to be re calibrated. THE ONLY THING WRONG with this Cougar is the internal bracket in the stick base.
  16. Yes, BUT there are other people asking about parts, and I need parts for my own throttle. It sold as "Broken, for parts/Untested". If you look at my original post, I'm asking if anyone has any spare parts for my Cougar throttle that they are willing to trade for. According to USPS it will arrive Thursday or Friday, I'm hoping that it is repairable, but I won't know till then. So check back in a few days. The Cougar base and grip will be sold or parted out, I already have a Warthog, and I would be willing to sell the Warthog base, I've got a Virpil WrBrd.
  17. I just wanted to add, yes I need one. I checked Viper Gear to see how much they cost, with the exchange rate and shipping it would around $55-$60, I didn't cost much more than that for this broken Cougar and pedals and I didn't pay for it, it was a gift. So I didn't lie when I said I couldn't afford to buy one, I really appreciate you looking, do you want to sell it or trade for one of the parts I have?
  18. Thanks for that Nopileus , again I never heard of them. Were they good quality pedals? Would they be something worth hanging on to? I had planned to just using them for parts. When they arrive they will be my 3rd set of pedals, so I wasn't planning on keeping them.
  19. Yes, but what part do you need? A guy named ' f4jok ' has already contacted me wanted the thumbstick. I bought a complete, in the box "sold as broken/untested" Cougar on its way. I have no idea what the condition is, I got the impression that the person selling it knew or cared nothing about. Even if I can't repair it, I will have alot more spare parts.
  20. Can you give me more info about them. I googled them, I can't find a website just a few blogs talking about them. I tried the companies name "Hoffman Electronics", if that is the correct company, but I can't find them either.
  21. I might have more parts to sell or trade. I submitted a low offer to a guy on Ebay selling a "Broken, in the box thrustmaster Cougar and some Simpad Pedals. He accepted, someone has already made me an offer so I could get a new pot or replacement sensor for the throttle. I would still be willing to do that, I would love to have a new Hall/magnetic sensor instead of a pot for my throttle. F4jok has first chance for any of the parts, but if anyone else needs something PM me. I think the internal brackets for the joystick are broken, but the paint look good, no signs of wear. If any of the parts are good I hope I will be parting most of it out. Then only parts I want are the throttle and stick pots and the pad that applies tension to the throttle, everything else can go. When I get it I'll update, but I'm posting the Ebay pics here. Has anyone ever heard of "Simped Pedals"? Also I have a Virpil base so I don't need my Warthog base, if any one needs one it is for sell to, it is brand new, I've never plugged it into my PC, I just bought it while it was on sale on Amazon for the Grip and Throttle.
