  1. Thank you for this. I think he actually entered a course in the UFC display (340) and then made that appear in the DDI, how did he do that, please? Thank you.
  2. In his YouTube "Case 1 Recovery" Wags somehow makes the desired course show in the DDI screen and CSEL appears in the OSI display. This helps him work out his position as he passes the carrier before he makes his descent. I have watched that YouTube countless times and I cannot see how the CSEl is set. Even in Chuck's F-18 Hornet Guide there aren't any instructions. Is there a step by step guide on how to do this, please? I have worked out how to use the ILS and TCN but not the CSEL. Thank you.
  3. I have searched the forums and have seen a post which says to set Windowed Mode use either Left or Right Alt + Enter. I have tried this, my screen flickers but nothing else happens. (My right Alt key is labelled Alt Gr). How can I set the screen to Windowed Mode, please? Thank you, Tregarth
  4. Thanks for this, I would never have guessed
  5. I would like to make screen grabs. Is there a way to this, please? Also, as importantly, where is the file stored? Thank you Tregarth
  6. Brun, Thanks for the explanation which I appreciate. However, since I have never even seen a real F-18 whether or not the trim control is digital or analogue seems a bit academic. What I do know is that my analogue control doesn't work which is disappointing. Whilst I am all in favour of realism, paying GBP450 for a HOTAS control set so I can trim the plane digitally seems a bit excessive. For info, I also have Aerofly FS2. That has an F-18 which has an analogue trim control. The plane does not have all the bells and whistles of DCS but at least the basic flying commands work. Regards, Tregarth
  7. Poor Old Spike, thank you for your reply, sorry you have written off one of Mr Trump's aeroplanes, but he has plenty more. I have tried FRAPS; thank you for the answer. I find it odd that both X-Plane and FSX supply a video capture command but DCS expects you to pay money for FRAPS. DCS is becoming a disappointment to me. Knowing what I know now I would not have bought it and would not recommend it to any one else.
  8. Thank you for your reply. I find it strange that all of the other flight sims I have used are compatible with Saitek but DCS is not. DCS seems to expect that customers will spend a fortune on expensive kit because they are incapable of supporting Saitek products. It would seem to me that they should supply a fix so the software is compatible with the hardware. It is not as if there are a vast number of hardware makers which they need to support. I am slowly beginning to regret paying money for a poorly supported product.
  9. Thanks for this. I didn't know FRAPS could be used for outside view recording - I thought it could only be used for interior. Can you "fly" round the F-18 whilst it is landing? That is really something. Thank you, Tregarth
  10. I am becoming quite good at landing the F-18 (at least I crash less frequently). I would like to make a video so I can play it back and admire my skill but cannot see how to do it. I have searched both Chuck's and DCS's manual using terms like record and video with no success. How can I make a video and where is it stored? Thank you, Tregarth
  11. I am trying to trim the Hornet using a Saitek stick. Normally I use the rotary button on the throttle to adjust the trim in other flight sims. But rotary buttons don't seem to work in DCS. Looking at the diagrams of the stick in Chuck's manual all the stick buttons are push activated. Is there a way to make the F-18 recognise rotary buttons, please? Thank you, Tregarth
  12. Following your replies, I quote from the DCS F-18 blurb "Interact with the cockpit by pressing buttons and moving switches. You will feel like part of the aircraft with our Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM)." "Virtual Reality support. Take advantage of the latest VR technologies to immerse yourself in the simulation." No mention there of having to use the keyboard or spend a fortune on a HOTAS. For info: Oculus Rift S UKP 400, DelanClip (head tracking) UKP 40. But the end effect would seem to be the same. I think I have been seriously misled / ripped off. Granted some things are probably easier using a keyboard, but using the spacebar to move on from each stage of the introductory lesson? Having spent UKP 400?
  13. Thank you all for your replies which are disappointing. Yes, I can easily find the spacebar. But if I do that I am not using Virtual Reality. To me VR means not touching the keyboard once the sim has started. It seems to be the same as buying an car with an automatic gearbox and then using a gear shift to change gear. If you have to use the keyboard then why use VR? Head tracking is just as good and considerably cheaper. I am seriously thinking about asking for my money back as this is not what I expected when I bought the sim. Nor is it what was advertised when it claimed to be "VR compatible". Thank you.
  14. Thank you for the speedy reply. I am embarrassed to say I can't find the trigger. In a video it clearly shows the trigger is on the front of the stick. Not on mine. I have squeezed every inch of the stick using all the buttons on the 2 hand controllers and still nothing happens. I have tried to look all over the stick for the trigger but I can't see one. 15. I am trying to use the Hornet start up tutorial with the Oculus Rift S VR headset. There is the opening instruction about starting the Hornet followed by "Press the Spacebar when ready". But I can't see the key board because I am wearing a VR headset. Similarly in the introductory flight tutorial I cannot un-pause the plane from the start screen. I have worked out how to move the stick but the plane is paused. How can I fly the Hornet in VR, please? Thank you, Tregarth
