  1. Thanks for the hint, it didn't work though, but meanwhile, I found a solution. So for those with the same problem: Problem: I had DCS World (2.5.6) and DCS World OpenBeta (2.7) installed in their default directories in parallel. When choosing the correct binary for DCS 2.7 in the Tobii Game Hub, it would always jump back to the DCS 2.5.6 directory. Solution: After some search I found a hint coming from a Tobii Dev: The Game Hub chooses the "DCS World" directory if that exists. So I simply renamed "DCS World" to "DCSWorldXYZ" (doesn't matter what you actually name it) and hence, Tobii Game Hub let me correctly choose the binary in "DCS World OpenBeta".
  3. What are the workarounds? Tobii 5 worked perfectly in 2.5.6, but it just won't detect 2.7 for me.
  4. I was so pleased by the Tobii 5 and DCS finally supporting all 6 DOF. But does anyone know how to get it to work with the open beta? Seems like it's always trying to detect the release version. Tried to rename folders, copy or link binaries to trick it, but nothing worked.
  6. I totally missed this whole Bonus System thing :(. Can I still register old products? I can't find any option to do so, but Wags' update still says Cheers, bfeld
  7. Hey Buznee, it's still in development, latest video was in May: Also have a look at the forums, there's a developer's journal: http://www.roguesystemsim.com/VForums/ Cheers, bfeld
  8. Throw money at RogueSystem -- check! :)
  9. The second teaser is online:
  10. Hello, there is an interview with Rogue System's developer Scott Juliano on SimHQ. Kickstarter campain is likely to start in February. For those who don't want to read the whole interview, here are some nice excerpts for simulation enthusiasts: Really looking forward to this sim! Cheers, bfeld
  11. I think you understood him right with your first post. I guess "I can't think of" is meant in the sense of "I don't know any..." so Rogue System might fit quite well! :)
  12. Hello simmers, I was wondering that I couldn't find any thread about Rogue System: http://www.fingerscrossedinteractive.com It's a space simulation project in pre-alpha stage (it was already called DCS:Space by someone, think it was on youtube). Features include: High fidelity Newtonian physics A fully clickable 3D cockpit with TrackIR support Complex interdependent ship systems An intense, story-focused single player experience Dynamically created, physics-based universe (or galaxy arm, as stated on the homepage) Dynamic AI behavior, giving control input to the ship as the player does Advanced communications to carriers, etc for engine start, starting and landing permission ... There are some WIP videos, which cover all the features mentioned above. The programmer is quite active, there's a daily development update in the registered forum section (the information is also gathered in the non-register part). Since there are not many people on the forum and I feel a little lone, asking questions, I thought I should do some advertisement ;). Seems to be very promising, so check out the homepage! Cheers bfeld
  13. I don't know why there is so much distrust concerning the recent developments. I also like the realism that the DCS products brought, but... Nobody will take your high-fidelity models away, there are just more coming. And if one out of five meets the standards set by BS, A10 and P-51D, it's one more. And a lot of others, that others will buy and "play". This is what keeps such a niche product running, you need customers, you need partners, you need dependencies -- well, at least I guess that it works that way ;). That's exactly it, most of the not-so-hard-corers do not write that much and that dedicated in forums. Only because a lot of people say "AFM or nothing" doesn't mean that there is no one looking forward to modern, classified fighters at the cost of a little less accuracy. Finally, these 3rd party developers are no "script-kiddies", but mostly professional developers (another guess ;) ). In the end, without being a fighter pilot, I guess (not again :music_whistling:) that none these pilots gets new aircraft as often as some of you want it. So for the sake of realism, keep up with what you got at the moment ;).
  14. Hi everyone, I haven't been writing that much in this forum lately, but now I just feel the need to give my opinion on the discussion about this upgrade. The last "simulator" I really had was F/A 18 Interceptor on the Amiga. When I read about Black Shark, I bought it, along with TrackIR, HOTAS and pedals. LockOn + FC2 followed as well as A10C + TM Warthog. I just state this, because I have spent a ridiculous amount of money for not even playing that much. And others do the same, buying the TM Warthog at release even though they have a HOTAS, but then complaining about 20$. When I read reviews of other games, stating 25 hours of gameplay, I can just smile. As I wrote on a review, concerning Black Shark and complaints about only one flyable bird (a little overdrawn): One of its systems is more complex than many of the mainstream games. The update with dynamic weather etc. is huge on BS2, compare this to the various FIFA, Codemasters or SimBin titels (which I really like). They are more mainstream and less complex, yet full price titels. I'm happy to be able to support ED, since the genre is quite a niche. Of course they want to earn money, but I don't have the feeling they're trying to cheat their customers. BS1 was a robust full product. If they did a lot of work to make BS2 meet the DCS (A10) standards, let me pay for it. Someone wrote about bad customer service in that regard: Have a look at the forums, I'm always happy to read detailed information about the new weather system, simulator internals, new sound and others that are given by the developers. I do not see this in many other forums. It's mainly the sim genre with similar marketing concepts. I don't know if I am what is called a fanboy nowadays (well, I don't think so), but I'm willing to pay for these upgrades, because I like what I see compared to many other products. Cheers bfeld
  15. Thank you Yo-Yo for the images. When I was reading about the weather engine I was suddenly thinking of exactly these two images, but couldn't find them. Are there any other "debug" screenshots, somehow visualising various engine internals? I'd really like to see more of these. Maybe it's worth a new thread, in case there is a chance to get a little more of these images. I even like images visualising bounding boxes :)
  16. Nice examples, MadTommy, nice engine, ED :). Didn't know the weather is already that dynamic, although I tried a bit.
  17. Hi, I don't know where to buy it in a local store, but I live in Germany and bought mine from Alternate (http://www.alternate.de). They are known to be quite fast. Cheers, Torsten
  18. The last?! What do you mean? NASA page already speaks about future missions: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/index.html Or is it the last Discovery mission?
  19. Dear ED-Team, when you choose the link 'Downloads->Manuals' on the official site (http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com) the menu changes its titles. The link 'Manuals' changes into 'Documentation' but misses a 't' (it reads 'Documentaion' there). Keep up the good work, cheers Torsten
  20. It's stand alone. Best to clean up old betas and install from scratch.
  21. Try to learn german and you'll love to get back to english ;)
  22. I had an X-52 pro and used it for Black Shark, too. Now, I own a TM Warthog. The letter is a lot more precise, and thus, overall, I like it more than the X-52 for the BS. Nevertheless, there are some downsides in my (unbiased ;-) ) opinion: - The original buttons of the Shark can be mapped better to the X-52 since it has more buttons instead of multi-way-hats on the stick - Using a button for triggering, the ones on the stick demand too much force to press, so the "hold-down-method" for trimming is somewhat less comfortable. I sometimes released the button accidentally - I found the throttle of the X-52 better suited for collective control. Hope that helps, cheers, Torsten
  23. Wow, wahnsinn... this is another league. I am proud of my HOTAS Warthog which I built myself in the sense that I attached the stick and put the cables in ;)
  24. Hi dnme, as promised, here is my profile. It works quite good for me. Movement is accelerated with increasing angle but slowed down when reaching important positions (like looking down around 80-90 degrees in game). Nevertheless, it's really dependent of your setup, so here is how I use it: TrackIR 4 with TrackIR 5 software. My TrackIR is located on my 22" monitor, approximately at eyes height. In normal position I'm sitting about 60cm away from my display. Cheers, bfeld profile.zip
