  1. Just found this. Few of us have had a bit of fun trying. thread here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/345043-how-high-can-you-get-the-f-16c/
  2. I dont think I can do any better... (He says sobbing in the corner exhausted from trying!!)
  3. Yesesssss!!! I did well! I've beaten it!! Have a guess! Ill get the video up asap.
  4. OOOOOHH Raven! I think you just beat me. I had another go. I got to 71140ft. Might have another go. Was yours with or without the two missiles?
  5. Interesting... I might have another go and without the missiles and see. I wonder if I can get it to 75,000ft?
  6. Came home from a long flight and thought... why not? I was low on fuel. About 1500 Lbs -already doing Mach 1.7. I couldnt really loose the two AIM-120s at the time but went for it anyway. Anyone else had a go?
  7. Thought you (or someone) might say that -and I thought that too.. but if you look closer.. you can see I have come out of that mode. I remember coming out of it as well. (HSD screen is up) It is possible I might have been still.. but I remember switching out of it (forward on the button) and back into it again. If I had come back into it again, then it wouldn't have fired, but it did. I think I am going to see if it happens again. I have a feeling its going to end up being me being an idiot. If I see that it is, I will come back here and say.. "yup' I'm an idiot! ) I dont have dropbox. I will have to look at something..
  8. This is a rare occurrence and doesn't happen often. In the past, when this used to happen to me it would always get me killed. This problem seems to be unique to the F16. (I cant upload a track file as it exceeds the maximum limit. -any suggestions you have for getting the file to you, let me know) The issue is brief but can be seen on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-zoYZqWiM8 at 26:20 Unfortunately, you can't really see the MFD screens. But look closely and you can see that I am out of SJ mode when trying to fire. I am trying to make sense of it myself and I am willing to find I have been an idiot. Happy to know what to do if its not actually finding a fault. I lock the target up with the radar on the left MFD and the right MFD has the Store Jettison page active. This is ok - I am not trying to fire yet because I want to drop the tanks. I realise I am definitely going to need to fire the missile, so I drop the tanks and come out of SJ mode back into AA. I fire. Nothing. The 3 selector switch on the HOTAS (warthog - but the same for the F16 Cougar HOTAS) that is used for "Dogfight" - "NAV" - "AA" is in the middle. Confusingly to a beginner, the "NAV" centre position can also be set to AA or AG as well as pushing forward the switch and going into AA/AG. Having had experience with this before, I react fast and I move the switch forward to AA and then back to centre (which is set to AA as well) and the missile then fires. If I somehow had something setup wrong in the middle switch - then going out of it and coming back to it should return the same result but it doesn't. It suddenly allows me to fire. I should add that I only ever seem to see this when I have refuelled and rearmed. Fresh from start up I never encounter this. If you need the track file, let me know where I can send it to.
  9. Thanks. It is strange because I have had some recent successes. Its like the problem paused for a moment? I just wish it was clear. Ie. - XRam = trktime or something. Latest finding seems to be - fly for less than 1hour and a half and leave the sim each time. I have another problem for you. posting now.
  10. Hmmmm.. so the plot thickens. So. Last night flew on the buddyspike server. As usual that is my go to place. I conducted a little experiment that left me no further forward. I put a timer on my phone for 1hr. Intention was that as soon as I hear the alarm, I would go and land and then exit the server and test the replay file. (without leaving the sim) On all occasions I happened to leave the server before 1hr. So the first flight was around 35mins. Track file good. Second flight around 50 mins. Track file good. Third flight was short. About 25 mins. Track file corrupt. This time, no DCS pop up asking me to send a file. Just a straight to desktop like I was never even in the sim. Like to point out that the condition for each was exactly the same - apart from the length of time I was in the sim. For example, the last flight was on top of me already being in the sim for a little over 85mins if you do the maths. No other windows activities, apps etc. (other than whatever the system likes to do in the background) Flying is fine. FPS is good. NOTE: I will provide the dxdiag if I could just perhaps try a few other things out first which is why I am seeking initial advice first. I am hoping to stumble on the culprit because I really need these track files. What would be nice is if we could have a key press to start recording - a toggle on off. I am surprised DCS doesn't have this feature. Does it?
  11. Ok. So keep them short. 32Gb ram and 21GB of VRAM and 25Gb of free SSD... how long do you think roughly? less than 1Hr?
  12. Hi guys. Before I investigate further - I wanted to ask if anyone else is experiencing issues with track files since the update was issued Friday the 23rd Feb? I've had a failure on the previous DCS Build - 1 from 20 track files that I can recall. But I put that down to the track file being very large. (I had left myself on the server to go do something and came back much later) However, since Friday, I have had 8 failures out of 10. So again, before we get into bug files (dxdiag output) is it a known thing? are there any does and don'ts to get reliable track files? My habits previous to the update remain unchanged and that's why I have a feeling that something has happened. I am trying to put a YouTube video together and need them to work really.
  13. Hi all. Responded to a few threads and thought why not post a new one and make an announcement of sorts. I've just started a YouTube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/@cptmrcalm My thought process was that if I am flying as a hobby - why not record my flights and explain what I am doing. I always fly BuddySpike Server - Persian Gulf modern and was looking for someone who would do flight by flight videos. I couldn't really find any. Not the sort I was looking for. The BuddySpike Server (Persian Gulf Modern) is, as some of you will know, a PVP campaign that usually lasts for a few weeks as one team gets the upper hand before the other starts claiming back territory. I thought, why not record my flights and chat over the top. They aren't really tutorials - although I am thinking of doing some. They are more explaining my actions as I do them. I got encouraged to do it - so thought.. why not? Latest video: They arent your typical fast paced movie style videos. All external views are restricted. I may well look at doing some however, as well as the tutorials in the future maybe. Let me know your thoughts. It's going well so far, but if it gains traction, I will do more.
  14. This is a long video. Done this morning. But there are shorter ones - as well as the 60 second short reals. Let me know your thoughts. If all good, I will do more.
  15. Subscribed! Nice. I will take a look at these. I've just started a channel myself actually. I thought, if I am flying as a hobby - why not record my flights and explain what I am doing.
