  1. Massive change log for 2.7 - thanks ED! Cannot wait to hop into my F-16 and bust through some clouds.
  2. Yep, same hole pattern. The red area captures the actual base hole pattern for its 4 screws:
  3. If all goes well and there aren't any blocking issues that would prevent that.
  4. From the newsletter: Multi-crew. Second crew member can be another player or “Petrovich” AI (basic AI level during early access phase). So that should be good for us single-player pilots. :)
  5. This is what DCS is really all about - a study sim to get into amazingly detailed modules of aircraft from various eras and learn to fly them (and to learn their sensors, weapon systems, etc along with it).
  6. Correct, either one of those, respectively - considering whether your MCG Ultimate has a twist adapter or not:
  7. Yes, whenever you swap a grip with another, you'll have to also flash the grip's firmware accordingly. When you replace your current grip with a new or different grip, the BlackBox sees this new grip as a malfunctioning previous grip, hence the flashing red light on the BlackBox. To enable the Gunfighter's BlackBox to recognize your new grip, there is a grip-specific firmware which you have to flash first. Once the grip-specific firmware is flashed, you need to reset your Gunfighter's BlackBox configuration to "DEFAULT", so your new grip can start communicating with the Gunfighter's base. Calibrating your Gunfighter w/ the new grip is the final step.
  8. This is my go-to photo that shows this F-15 being stuck as well. You can see that that's a big deal in RL as well. :)
  9. Interesting - thanks for the pointers. The reason why I asked the question was the availability of these training ordnance (screen capture below) in DCS, but it seems as if ED never developed those into functioning training weapons then for campaign makers to work with. I had hoped they did.
  10. When it comes to DCS campaigns that are about training during peace time at NTTR, I always hope for *that one campaign* that allows for simulated weapon releases and kill counts. Maybe I'm the only one, but for some reason shooting down my fellow trainees with their planes falling out of the sky in flames (and mine as well) puts me off as that's not what training is about. I much rather hop into my jet, do the training, shoot and score with simulated missiles and guns, and have both me and my opponent join up again and fly home to land. Is that possible in this campaign? Or do I actually shoot and kill instead? Thanks.

    Sim rig vs. Cat

One of my cats was a cable biter when younger, so there was a real danger that he would chew through thin wires, such as keyboard or mouse wires, and often times I would find bite marks on thicker cables he couldn't bite through. Besides yelling at him when being caught in the act to get him to stop, there wasn't much I could do. Luckily, he grew out of that behavior as he got older and hasn't done that in years. For me, though, I still keep the door to my "gaming room" closed at all times, unless I am in there flying DCS just to avoid any kind of accident that that might occur, including the regurgitated food and thrown up hairballs (the real joys of living with cats). :)
  12. +1 I remember the CNN Desert Storm footage and playing Falcon 3 during that time. I'd love to see this reflected in DCS as well.
  13. Interesting discussion. For me personally, I run two computers: one runs Ubuntu and that's the one I use for important personal and business related stuff, and the other one runs Windows, and the only thing do on that is play DCS and Steam games. There's no personal or business data stored, and I click only on things that pertain to DCS or games I run from Steam. To me, Windows is a gaming OS, and I treat it as such. On the other hand, Ubuntu (or other Linux distros) I trust a lot more and thus use it for personal and business stuff, and occasionally for the "daring click that I wouldn't dare to click on using Windows". As a side note, I also have a router that has some built-in malware/virus/intrusion protection that keeps me straight as well (free of charge, as part of the router, and not some premium service you have to pay for monthly as it seems to become more common place).
  15. I like the new forum refresh as well. It's a lot cleaner and seems to be easier to use overall. It presents itself more pleasantly as well when looking at the forum's main page.
  16. Those work like a charm - just like the old forum. Thanks for those.
  17. I am getting used to the new forum design and features already. Not bad at all. As always, we (as humans) usually struggle with change initially, but then it all works out in the end...
  18. Can we also PLEASE stop this constant advertising of this horrible privacy-violating website that's now plastered all over the place here? Thanks.
  19. I kinda miss the "Today's Posts" button, as well as the far more compact design of the old forum. This vBulletin version seems newer, but it is not as easy to follow the posts/content changes.
  20. Always keep your audience in mind though... ;)
  21. Would be nice if these dates would be given in a format that's easily discernible for folks in the US and Europe alike, with the month abbreviated like so: Stable Version Next update: Planned 9 Oct 2020 or Oct 9, 2020 instead of Next update: Planned 09/10/2020, which I first read as Sept 10, 2020. :music_whistling: Just nitpicking, though. :)
