  1. Cool, btw how's that TUAF Sound Pack, I see it listed in that thread but it has some low ratings on LOF.
  2. New LO player here and just wondering if there's any other great mods out there to enhance the graphics. So far I have tree shader 2.0 and the reload terrain. Is there any other must have mods for graphics? thx
  3. I forget what version I'm on, I'll have to check later. But, I should probably rephrase that anyway, it's not so much the way the AI reacts that I have a big problem with, it's the severe lack of squad vs squad battles that I don't like. The game needs that type of action in order to feel realistic IMO.
  4. you can download it here http://petergames.de/ARMA-2.48.0.html or any other German retailer then just download the English conversion off of a torrent site. Perfectly legal.
  5. Yep and that's understandable. I also play combat mission shock force (an amazingly realistic rts) and that game takes a good machine to run despite the small maps and poor graphics. Its all of the advanced ai that takes a lot to process. So I wouldn't expect that type of detail in arma, but they still could have made better use of teams and squads imo, that would have vastly improved the game. Very rarely if ever should I be engaging just one enemy unit in a given area.
  6. Not sure if this has been posted already or not, but if you're in America you don't have to wait. You can purchase the German version then download this conversion patch that'll put everything in English. It's worth it if you're really looking forward to the game.
  7. I just got ArmA 2 yesterday and I really had high hopes for this game, evident by my previous post, but so far I have to say that it’s not a great game, currently at least. I’ll explain what I mean later. But, it's basically ArmA with better graphics, albeit much, much better graphics. What bothers me the most is the AI which is just pretty awful. For example I’m playing a mission where I have to takeout a sniper that has another team pinned down and I didn’t have the greatest of angles on the sniper when I began to engage him so it took me a good 5 or 6 shots before I was finally able to kill him. That entire time I was shooting directly at him yet the sniper never moved an inch or even attempted to fire back at me, he just sat there and let me kill him. The other bad thing about the AI is that they often operate solo instead of as squads or fire teams. Because of that you don’t get truly realistic and immersive firefights very often. It’s more like covering such huge terrain and engaging a random soldier or two as you move along. Which isn’t very intense and because of that you also don’t get to see the enemy using any good squad based tactics and makes the game feel too much like a DM. Your own AI can get pretty goofy at times as well, falling out of buildings and silly stuff like that. The voice acting and comms are still bad too. The thing is though, the game really has so much potential, it just seems as if the missions don’t do the game any justice at all. With realistic conflicts, engagements, squad tactics present the game would really be a 10/10. But, right now it’s just not as realistic as it was cracked up to be, but I’m holding onto it hoping that some good mods and user created missions come out… We’ll see.. Or maybe the campaign and scenario mission get a lot better as you go along?? Hopefully someone further into the game can drop some good news in that regard.
  8. The only vast difference between the two Apache's is the radar/sensor system isn't it? & Unfortunately I'm still having some issues with IDing targets I guess. I'm engaging targets who appear to be on the move to the area in which I'm defending, however I'm being penalized after the game for friendly fire. The crazy thing about it is that I always look through the AAR and the only targets it reports me hitting are the M1A2s, which is exactly what I was engaging with the guided missles only. So, I don't understand where the FF is coming from especially when there's only reports of me hitting the enemy in the AAR.
  9. That's odd because the same thing is happening to me as well. Except mine will start moving in one direction only and no matter what I do I can't get it to stop. I don't have any buttons conflicting, I'm using the hat on my joystick, but I didn't clear the commands on the keyboard for it, which shouldn't matter right. I never use the keyboard to control the direction of it, and no other keys are mapped to control the shkval.
  10. Right, so from what I understand I can only ID targets that I spot visually and save into the computer? This seems like such a huge disadvantage especially on a game because with the graphics sometimes it's hard to spot different things in urban areas. Also, do you have any tips to tell friend from foe? Sorry for the newb questions, but I'm obviously not familiar with Russian equipment and this is my first helicopter sim. Which is still great, I love it, but I also hope they eventually add the Longbow now just to change the pace with more up to date technology, plus co-op as a gunner/pilot would be a lot of fun. But, then they would need a voip system too. But, anyway thanks guys I see I have a lot of practicing to do now. Any tips related to spotting/input is appreciated.
  11. I still can't see how to detect targets and have them displayed on my nav, aside from preprogrammed targets. I think I went through all the combat tutorials and don't recall any mention of this.
  12. How do I work this? I have my nav system and ground targets on, but I'm not being fed new targeting info on my map.
  13. The ka-50 doesn't have a target acquisation system?
  14. Can someone tell me what to do in order to have my radar automatically acquire targets once in range? As of now I only know how to input target data that's received from my wingman.. Thanks
  15. I'll probably buy both, but I know I can count on ArmA being the more realistic of the two. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but TG has a great preview up: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactical-gamer-news-items/139458-tactical-gamer-review-armed-assault-2-london-20-05-09-a.html
  16. I think right now a lot of people are still learning the game, so they haven't gone online yet. Also, I think it's very unfortunate that BS does not have VOIP, that really brings down the MP experience a lot IMO. VOIP is a must for any simulation/tactical based game.
  17. Running everything maxed out without any hitches, but for whatever reason my graphics don't seem as crisp as the graphics I've seen in various youtube vids. Here's my specs Q6600 @ 3.5 GHz linked with DDR3 Ram (2GB) 8800 GTS (G92) EVGA 790i Ultra 64 bit Vista Oh, actually I just noticed that my resolution doesn't go up to 19, there's no option for that. Is that due to my videocard?
  18. Ill buy the FFB new when I can, I try to stay away from buying used hardware. So, for now how's this one instead http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009OY9U/ref=s9_subs_gw_s0_p23_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=19N4106GRJVTJBTEBMV3&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846
  19. Can anyone recommend a good stick that's around $30-40, or is a stick that cheap even going to be worth buying? Right now I'm using a game pad, which worked fine for Falcon 4.0 and FSX, but of course on DCS it's just not cutting it. So, are there any worthwhile sticks for that price? thx
