  1. You are aware you can use both at the same time, right? I do it, just have a separate key bind for VOIP and SRS.
  2. Do you hold down the trigger to fire the laser while your bombing? Turning the laser on doesn't mean it's firing the Laser. You should have a flashing L in the TGP if the target is being lased. If it's a solid L it means you are not firing the laser, hence no laser guidance to the bomb.
  3. You have to go into the DED and turn the DL off and back on, sometimes it takes multiple times, but it does fix it and get's it going. It was driving me crazy. I found this video to be helpful. @Lord Vader I believe this is what he might be talking about but not sure. The same issue happens to me as well, on a cold start, though I always use strd heading. alignment. But even following the correct procedures I have to do what is done in the video to get the DL to actually show up in the HSD
  4. No problem. It happens to the best of us. To answer your question as to why I'm on here a lot. Wife is out of town for cousins wedding and I'm on disability, so I can't really go out and enjoy myself like the good old days. Can no longer work due to perminate back injury. So, when she's gone, I just game, work on my YouTube channel, and check out forums.
  5. No, I am not associated with DCS, nor do I have any direct connection to anyone. I know my statements seem like the same. I just feel that too many people seem to ignore what the situation is because they don't want to read anything that BIGNEWY says. People that have no clarity or understanding, much less patients seem that the only thing to do is at times literally telling ED that they are doing horrible because they can't get what they want when they want it, I understand if the work arounds don't work for some and not everyone would want to drop $20 for Virtual Desktop. I get people are frustrated, though IMO that's no excuse to come on and degrade people who are working hard to fix it in the quickest manner possible. I'm beginning to see why @slughead suggested the thread be closed. Don't worry I'm done posting about it, though I don't seem why you feel it necessary to insult my social life and standing. I am happily married with a family and plenty of friends, which honestly is no one's business. I have been virtually positive about the entire thing while helping those that ask how to get the workarounds, directing them to the page, including fixes I found to get it going from VR to 2D without having to start the game, and providing positive feedback to try and get people to understand why there isn't a hotfix. I don't have to be connected to ED in order to say any of this. If you want, I'll go back and delete every single one of my posts. Have a wonderful day.
  6. Yeah, I actually looked that up just before your post and switched it.
  7. I always make sure to uncheck that *Update when powering off* option before I turn the headset off, otherwise yeah, even if you have auto updates in the app and headset turned off. The damn thing will still update itself. I just decided to use Virtual Desktop moving forward. Runs faster and smoother than link ever did anyways and doesn't matter what version you have. Works perfectly fine with DCS. Even though you also need steamVR since it uses that as the openxr runtime I guess but overall, much better IMO.
  8. Meant Bignewy. I'm going to be the bigger adult and not respond to your childish comments. If you really don't know the reason, I suggest you go back and read the a few pages back where BIGNEWY states several times what the reason for the delay is as myself have stated as well. End of discussion. Have a good day.
  9. I'm stating the reason as to why the patch hasn't been released. That you are incorrect in that it's "management" When BIGNEWBY has already stated that they are releasing the fix for oculus with the primary update and stating the reason why it has been delayed as opposed to your assumption that the devs have everything done and are just sitting on it rather than releasing it. They've already stated that they are not releasing a hotfix because it's part of the primary patch. Which has been stated multiple times. So I don't understand the reason why people keep asking why it hasn't been released. They need to make sure everything works. Don't understand why that's so hard to understand. What if they release the fix? Like a hotfix, than the patch comes out and that hotfix breaks something else in the primary patch code, in turn breaking the game. Then guess what you have to wait all over again for a hotfix for that hotfix, then everyone will be back on here complaining again and crying "Oh they should of make sure it worked with everything before releasing it" It's common sense. To the point of my statement to go look up how to code, I feel it's right on the point because i was being serious. If people want to know why it takes so long when they don't have any idea on the process as to how hard it is, even to do a simple "Patch" than they should go look up how to code to see how hard of a task that is to get a better understanding as to why it takes so long, therefor answering their question. I'm sorry that it seems you are taking everything I say completely out of context. Also, I know most of us always seem to just jump to the very last page when it comes to these things, myself included sometimes, however it would be on their best interest to be more diligent and at the very least go back about 5 pages or so because the answer has already been stated multiple times, as well as 3 known working workarounds. Because they are releasing the fix for Oculus with the primary patch. I'm stating the reason for the delay as previously stated on this thread. Everyone seems to think that the devs are just sitting on it not doing anything and are just twiddiling their thumbs delaying the release for no reason. The F16 INS as well as another reason is why the patch was delayed that fixes the VR bug. I'm not stating this thread has anything to do with the F16 INS. I'm stating the reason for the delay.
  10. No sir you are wrong. There was an issue with the F16 INS feature as well as another issue, that they are still currently working on. So no the coders have not "Done their jobs weeks ago" as you claim because they are still actively working on it. So you're presumption that "management" is delaying the patch just because is incorrect. also I'm not sure for others but the --force_disable_VR command never worked for me. If it works for him than cool.
  11. Go look up how to code and that will answer your question.
  12. Nothing to do with your system. the update that meta pushed out broke DCS for VR. There for the time being are 3 known workarounds. on page 16 you can find a work around, and roll back to V63 if your on V64, just turn off PTC and turn off all automatic updates, restart the software & headset and it should roll back to V63, Follow the instructions exactly on the work around. Folders have to be copied over not moved out and replaced. 2nd option is to run the exe through steamVR. Just go to your librabry, add non-steam game and select either the multi-threateded exe or the single thread exe. Make sure you have use VR selected and that steam is your openXR runtime enviorment. Than just launch SteamVR through the quest link. 3rd option and honestly well worth it IMO is to just use Virtual Desktop. It's $20 on Oculus store, but well worth it. If you have at least a 5G router preferably with wifi6 I've used all 3 options, the work around works pretty good in the Oculus link, SteamVR is not the best option as it requires finer tunning in terms of graphics and Virtual Desktop. Which is what I'm using from now on. I just have my headset connected wirelessly and use the Oculus charger with a 10ft 10Gig USB-C cable connected to the headset and it keeps it charged 100% at all times while in game. Played 4 hours yesterday and it didn't drop at all. Graphics are much better in Virtual Desktop as well and overall runs much smoother and doesn't require the use of Oculus link. Unless it's specifically required, I don't think I will ever use the Oculus link at all anymore. The ETA for the patch is the 10th of this month. Would of been released sooner but they found additional things that needed to be fixed with the main patch regarding the F16 INS and something else. This is what people don't understand when it comes to coding that you can't just rush something or change one little line of code and expect everything to just work. here is a fix for DCS not running at all if you just want to play it in standard 2D and use a webcam with opentrack + aitrack. No LED or anything special required as aitrack is facial tracking software that works extremely well. 1. Download Notepad++ if you don't have it already. 2. Delete any DCS shortcuts you have on the desktop as these won't work now. 3. Go to your saved games folder: C:/Users/*Your username*/Saved Games/DCS/Config 4. Find the file called Options.lua or just Options if you don't have file extensions on. 5. Open that with Notepad++ 6. Once in do a search (Ctrl + F) for VR 7. look for the option tagged "Enable" It should say true you want to change it to false by typing in false. 8. go to file and save. 9. Create new desktop shortcuts from your main DCS directory if using MT it will be C:\DCS World\bin-mt\DCS.exe For ST it will be C:\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe or whatever corresponding drive you installed the game to. C is just the default. Game will now launch without VR and go to standard 2D. Do not change the VR back on once you're in the game. If you want to re-enable VR, just do the exact same thing with the options and change it back to true if you want to try the oculus/steam/VD fix. Though obviously this option would be for if none of those worked. the only other way would be to just delete the DCS folder in the saved games, along with the desktop shortcuts This would require you to re-set everything up, controls, graphics, etc... upon relaunching the game from the main install folder.
  13. Stayed charged at 100% the entire time had it plugged into wall, res set to ultra, brightness 100% max, spent 4 hours in and didn't drop down at all.
  14. Ah yeah, that would do it. I made the same mistake initially but didn't get the Java error. It just wouldn't start up for me at all. So, I reinstalled it, copied the original out as a backup, copied the new folders in and replaced and it worked. Though right now, I switched from oculus link to Virtual Desktop. Works right out of the box since it uses SteamVR as an interface, but game runs smooth as butter and actually looks better IMO. It's $20 bucks on the oculus store, no work around needed or anything, it just works. Doesn't matter what version of Oculus you have. My system: Ryzen 9 5900X @4.8 all core 64 GB DDR 3200 7800XT 16GB
  15. Nice, glad to hear it! Cheers mate! What was the issue with Java that wasn't causing it to work? Did you not have it installed or something? Just curious.
  16. Okay, Ill tinker around with it. It's not really an issue when I'm in the pit, not even in F2 or any other view, just the flyby view, so it's not really a big deal from what I've noticed so far. True, I have a pretty good size battery bank for my phone, was thinking about mounting it, though not too keen on having the extra weight, I have the quest pro which in itself isn't exactly that light, at least not as comparable to the quest 2 or 3. Plus, I'd still have to have a cable going from the battery to the headset which would require me to go buy a shorter one, so not really wanting to spend extra money on something when I'm going to have to plug it in anyways. The way I have the cord routed to the wall it's not in the way of anything so i still get full rotation on the headset without the cord getting in the way. I apricate the suggestion though.
  17. Thank you for that. Yeah, I noticed that after only an hour of flying it went from 100% down to 31%. So definitely going to plug it into the wall while running Virtual Desktop. Overall, I like it. However, I am noticing one drawback and that I'm getting ghosting. Not in everything, and more so imparticular in flyby view in F3. I have a 10ft USB-C 10Gig cable so more than enough length to connect the oculus plug from the wall to my VR. I don't even use the controllers, so no need to worry about them being charged.
  18. Yeah, I actually bought it and got it working, really impressed. Definitely notice a huge difference. I get anywhere from 890Mbps-1Gb from my router for wifi6, so the headset has plenty of bandwidth. Haven't tested it in multiplayer yet, but single player running smooth as butter at 90FPS with MSAA X2 and everything set to High in game, except water, terrain, and shadows. Hell, I can even have SSAO and SSLR on as well. So, if it goes good in MP, then I'll just use that going forward. I was wondering maybe I could connect it to the PC or an Outlet with the USB-C still just to keep it charging while it's in use. Idc if it's wired or wireless, just want good performance.
  19. No worries, I wrote a lengthily fix for him to do as well and the exact page # where he can find the link to get the folders for oculus.
  20. It's a bug that has been going on since February when Meta released an update it broke DCS. Has nothing at all to do with your system. ED has already fixed it internally and is going to come with the next patch when they release it this month, the Estimated date is the 10th. There are currently 3 known work arounds to play in the meantime. Please referee to page 16 of the thread listed from Rob10 for the actual oculus link fix. The 2nd is to add either the MT or ST launcher to your steam launcher and run it through steamVR via the oculus link. To do this simply go to your steam library, at the bottom select add game, select non-steam game, locate the executable for DCS that you want to add, which I stated above. Make sure that you select VR mode. The third option is to run it through Virtual Desktop. For the Oculus fix it is recommended that you uninstall the oculus app and reinstall it, also make sure all automatic updates are turned off, both in the app on the pc as well as the headset and make sure you are not in the "Public Test Channel" in the app, IE Early beta releases. Also make sure you have update when powered off on headset disabled. If this is enabled the headset will still update regardless of what settings, you changed. This can be done by holding down the power button to turn the headset off and unselecting it when the power off menu appears. You should have V63 of the Oculus app on both PC and headset. Make sure you back up the three folders before you copy in the new ones from the thread so that way when the patch comes out, you can drop them in to revert back to original. Also, here is a fix for DCS not running at all as the issue was happening to me and I couldn't figure out why if you just want to play it in standard 2D and use a webcam with opentrack + aitrack. No LED or anything special required as aitrack is facial tracking software that works extremely well. 1. Download Notepad++ if you don't have it already. 2. Delete any DCS shortcuts you have on the desktop as these won't work now. 3. Go to your saved games folder: C:/Users/*Your username*/Saved Games/DCS/Config 4. 21. Don't understand why I was quoted on this but okay. I myself don't use the steam workaround. I use the oculus fix on page 16 of that thread. Nvm, I see what you did there. Smart
  22. You need to add the actual executable from the stand-alone version to your steam library. Just click add game at the bottom of your game list on steam and navigate to the MT version or ST version, which ever you want to use. Make sure you select Use VR. Than just launch SteamVR as normal and luanch it through that. Oh also, make sure if you use openXR toolkit, make sure you have DCS disabled for it and if you have OpenComposite, just delete it. Otherwise, you will get about 5fps in the game.
  23. I have the headset connected directly to the computer. Don't have wifi on my PC. I have USB-C 10Gig cable Don't have Wifi on my PC. I connect my headset via USB-C 10Gig cable
  24. Okay cool thanks, don't see what Wifi has to do with anything as both my router and switch are rated for 1Gig. My computer is in my bedroom and my switch, router and modem are in a small closet rack with lines running through the house. Kind of like how you would see in a small business setup. The wifi is only used for my printer, phones, and tablet. Everything else is connected to the switch. Fully agree, and that's what I pointed out earlier. If people going to come on and act the way they have been, then they going to leave the admins no choice but to close this thread and all others like it. Then nobody will have a say in anything. When I get my Taxes in, first thing I'm going to buy is Helldivers 2. FOR DEMOCRACY! Yeah, kind of broke at the moment lolz.
  25. Question regarding VD. My computer is connected to a switch which is connected to the router, both via 1Gig Cat6 ethernet cable, both switch and router are Gigabit. Would that work for VD? Thinking of giving it a go. For me the Oculus app works with the workaround but if it's better in performance would love to give it a try, especially since I heard you can do augmented reality with it as well. Hard to see my Thrustmaster MFD's in VR, have to literally feel for them lol.
