  1. I think my first flight sim was Falcon. 1987 or 88 ish. Janes became popular and was damn good. MS FS. Just wasn't my thing. DCS BS. Only crap. Since then DCS has been on top. For those upset about some of the modules you need to read the fine print. Early Access. I am somewhat on your side with just how many of them are still Early Access but DCS is still BY FAR the best Combat flight sim you can play today. As far as the SuperCarrier goes. I am fine with it will be released when ready. Although it looks like it will be released with readyish but that doesn't mean you have to buy it. I am. DCS is the longest games series I have ever played. I don't see that changing. Between software and hardware it is one hell of an investment but it's been worth every penny. Time to go practice being a sea dart to get ready.
  2. I enjoyed this mission a ton. It's one of my get in, get dirty get out missions. I like the AA coming out of the trees here and there.. Def hard to nail some of those. Trucks are pretty ez to track. More then once my missile went through the ship not hitting it when clearly it should have. Mostly from way out though. I'd like to see the ship moving out. Add some time sensitive aspect. Maybe moving out into overwhelming sea or air defense so you can't just catch up and take it out. The tower behind the hills on the way out begs for some sort of "Barons home attack" or something. Add some AA, trucks maybe a get away helicopter chase to take him out.. Some stinger man pads would add to the fun as well. JUST NO RADAR driven missiles. I love poppin flares and having near misses. First time into the mission. CRAP AA fire dive dive, crap.. Power lines.. Ahh Rescue I need a pick up.............. LOL
  3. Good god that music sucked for flying.. Nice mission though once the music is gone.
  4. Damn I missed this dam mission again!!! Can anyone post it up again?
  5. Ok.. It's time to post the mission somehow..LOL I agree.. He made it for public release and look at all of us know asking for it.. Someone host it for a while and I will do the same.
  6. 1. To low... I think it's about 4m from the ground they can turn off.. 2. Damage from being shot or pushing the heli to far out of the envelope. Few others I can't find in my book right now
  7. Rough Auto rotation landing but I made it.. Came to a stop upright after a long busted gear skid then I hear something coming down the runway.. Humm Look right.. Look left.. Crap Crap Crap.. Eject... Plane came to a stop right as it hit my heli....
  8. This has happened to me a handful of times. Once when I was on auto pilot. The heli went on through all the route points till for some reason lost total control and flipped about into the ground. It's a harsh boom and your looking at the outside of your heli though..
  9. I am pretty sure you can use http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=AddDownload#adddownload to upload a mission. I have IM'd Ronht a few times with no success.
  10. Does anyone have a training mission setup to run system failures? After a few amazing landing pulled off with the finesse of a brick falling out of the sky I could use some auto rotation practice and system shut down procedures. I'd like to see a basic over airfield training and some failure over hilly terrain IE like in the Dam missions floating around.. I have not got around to making my own missions yet.
  11. Anyone have this mission? I'd like to play it....
  12. A black KA-50 was the feature flight player in a movie called "Black Shark" and the name stuck. At least that's what it says on pg 1-9 of the manual. :-)
  13. Anyone have this mission? Can you upload it somewhere so we can have a run at it.. I like the dam map area and the other dam map keeps kicking the @#$% out of me..lol
  14. KABUL – A Tornado fighter jet crashed inside NATO's largest base in southern Afghanistan on Monday in the second major crash on the base in two days, officials said. The jet crashed inside Kandahar Airfield during takeoff at 7:20 a.m. Afghanistan time (0250 GMT), said Capt. Ruben Hoornveld, a spokesman for the NATO-led force. The two-member crew ejected and were being treated at the base hospital. There was no indication that insurgent activity caused the crash, he said, but officials could not immediately say why the plane went down. The jet caught fire and emergency personnel responded. The crash of the Tornado is the third aircraft to go down in Afghanistan in three days. A U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet crashed early Saturday in central Afghanistan, killing two crew members. U.S. officials say insurgent fire did not bring down the plane. Last week, Taliban militants downed an Mi-6 transport helicopter in southern Afghanistan, killing six Ukrainian civilians on board and an Afghan child on the ground. 15. Sounds like an awesome mission but the file I see to DL is a cannonEOS120DMG file.. Is the mission still up for peps to fly?
  16. Im in the CA National Guard and even with our state funds problems we do not miss a single Maintenance check and even more so in combat.. My unit was in Iraq and never lost a helicopter because of missing regular maintenance. We are now upgrading our Black hawks for our deployment to Afghanistan and even a smudge in the maintenance log is getting a call back from our TIs asking for clarification on the suspect task. They must have been close to the ground or shot down to not be able to eject or if they did eject something else went wrong.. Aircraft can be replaced but the talent the pilots gain over years of training is something we never get back not to mention the men themselves...
  17. Lets see here... Name check... Call sign check... Nation... I live in the US so I will put US. Some time later... WOW.. Friendly A-G is really high.. Humm.
  18. Got my Gogamer copy today! Guess I have some reading to do. Very nice. I act like the Russian tags. I may even try to go and reverse the tags in game once I get everything down to dive a bit deeper into flying a Russian machine.
  19. Unfortunately this is my 2nd pilot as my first was listed as US so all the ground kills I got, u guessed it showed as FF kills.. Nice touch ED! Ya got us yanks on that one.....LOL I run without labels so the 2 FF kills are big time opps..
  20. Recon Recon Recon.. Most of the time you have a wingman.. I don't know who this guy is next to me but damn that guy can fly...Most of the time.. He seems to be able to get out of a lot of sticky situations if you control him via radio. You can get a good feel of where sams will be when approaching a battle field. Send you wing man on recon scouts and get good intel. Plan your new route from that info. Who says you have to stick to the ingress route anyways? But if you find odd shaped objects whizzing by your cockpit you should 1. Stop staring at your shkval so close buddy there are bad guys shooting at you. 2. Pop flares. You never know it could help 3. Tell the autopilot/hover/everything to go away just try not to push it to much your the helicopter tears itself apart but hey you may be exploding do to rapid atom displacement in a few seconds anyway so screw the safteys! 4. Drop like a rock and find cover. Many a hillsides have become my surrogate shielding system. Be nice if we could use the trees as cover as most hills in the game are long sloped so it can be hard to get behind them but thats all apart of the recon and changing up the flight route a bit. The main thing is move here move there move back here again. Pop up shoot/hit target dive down, move over, find new target repeat. Hovering for long periods of time zoomed in to your zhkval screen and watching your shots all the way in is a sure way to meet up with ground via the ejection seat.
  21. I remember the first time I turned the game on and looked around the cockpit. I spent about 5 min reading the labels and a laugh escaped my mouth and I said out loud I have no idea what to do next.. After a few producers notes and the training missions I was ready to go into battle.. A short time later my helicopter lay in ruins not far from my airbase. She tore herself apart at to high a speed and to sharp a turn.. I spent about 5 min looking at my wreckage and a laugh escaped my mouth and I said out loud I have no idea what to do next. I don't think I fired a weapon at an enemy for a week as I learned how to fly this thing. Now almost done with the oil campaign I find myself laughing when a few sams fly by my cockpit, my wingman catches a tank shell and some lady is saying something about an engine being on fire. It's not until I land and take off my headphones that I realise my back is a bit sore from being so ridged and I am sweating like crazy.. This game is a ton of fun but gets "smaller" as you put time in and things like start up become 2nd nature.
  22. Humm.. Seems GOgamer is playing a little fast and lose with the ships in 24hrs. Thus far my manual has not shipped but merely the usps states "Electronic Shipping Info Received" on June 30th.. I hope the info just needs a bit of updating. Anyone can use a computer to place an electronic "bookmark" shipping tag. Real 24hr shipping is what makes a good company.
  23. Ordered my copy ohh 2 days ago.. Gogamer says they shipped it today. SWEET. Lets see how long it takes.
  24. If under heavy attack in a hover I will flick it off which makes for a wild ride getaway. Wild for the pilot(and fun) even more so for whatever is tracking me. I use VAC and say "autopilot all) to turn on all 4 holds once I am out of trouble or about to get in some trouble if I push the flight envelope to hard.
