  1. This is going back a bit, but have any of you guys played Wings of Prey? Because it has the best scenery I have ever seen, and would be perfect for DCS :)
  2. (cough) A-20 Razorback :D Looks like Sukhoi's design team have been playing an awful lot of Endwar and HAWX recently hahaha
  3. And by the way, there are plans to fit the Typhoon with thrust vectoring, and IIRC one has already flown with AESA :) Raptor, en guarde!!!!! if that's how you spell it :P
  4. I mean no offense by this but some people do not have the time! It's a bit snobbish for want of a better world assuming that everyone has a) the ability and b) the patience to read through all the manuals. For the record, I hate the competitiveness between all the consoles/PCs, it is immature, stupid and even though I can sympathise with you because I know noobs can be annoying, I think that you should try and help them learn the basics etc... anyway rant over
  5. Eddie amazing shots! :O where do you get all these?
  6. An interesting read is Sea harrier over the falklands by Sharkey Ward. It mentions first person some of the engagements listed above, and my view of it was that although the F15 could shoot down the Harrier on paper, the pilots did not have the correct tactics against well flown thrust vectoring aircraft. And in addition to above, the SHAR would not have made a bad interceptor. Although the book is biased it presents a fairly convincing side to the Tornado F3 / SHAR argument as the UK's QRA fighter. The main point was that the Tor could not go supersonic over land due to noise constraints and the harrier due to the simple systems has a much better turnaraound and scramble times EDIT: actually, looking at that list, Nigel ward aka Sharkey wrote the book
  7. Harrier!!! No one has and probably no one will succesfully attempt it! but it would be perfect!!! And btw I know about jet thunder ;) I reckon it's going to fail though :/
  8. then I conclude that it is non existant :P darn I was sure that was right
  9. yes I have to say that the article did not mention problems with manouvering - presumably the mounted MG makes everything easier
  10. after 20 minutes scouring the floor of my room I have to conclude that I have lost the article :) But IIRC it was one of the meditteranean nations, like greece or italy who were using possibly super pumas or other similar medium transport helicopter as a low/slow interceptor, the idea being fly up next to the target and blow it up with the door mounted guns. It sounds a little implausible, I'll admit, but I'm absoulutely certain I saw it. EDIT: found a similar thing http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/25/dc.airspace.alert/
  11. yes okay stop pulling apart my argument haha :P But I'm sure they use helis to intercept light aircraft - saw it in 'Combat Aircraft Weekly', not neccesarily in counter narco ops though. And anyway my point was that light helicopters are a lot more versatile and also a lot more fun to fly
  12. well the way i see it, your light helicopter, whatever it may be, can be used for counter narcotics, ie chasing other planes, shooting vehicles then there's troop insertion ( and admittedly one of the conditions of doing this well would be no shooting at all), counter rebel operations ( which can involve what you said ) and also I don't know if you've read Phoenix squadron by roland smith but I picture scenarios like that - small overseas territories being reinforced by light attack helis to operate strike missions, and if it comes to invasion then armed recon, war fighting generally like shooting APCs etc
